When her dreams of becoming a ballerina were quashed by early-onset klutziness, Diana Duncan took up the safer vocation of writing. Her first thrilling masterpiece—written in orange crayon—was titled “Perky the Kitten,” and became an instant bestseller with her grandparents.
Her childhood growing up as a military brat gave her ability to leap into a conversation with anyone, anywhere, anytime…and she always discovers a new friend in the process. This gift of gab perfectly equipped her for a career that involves making stuff up.
Di is famous for using seven words when one will do. She wields smart-assery like a samurai sword, and will be the first to volunteer in a catastrophe. Of course, she was probably the one who caused the catastrophe.
She’s fiercely loyal to her friends and family…but in the event of the upcoming zombie apocalypse, she won’t hesitate to use them as human shields.
She loves her job as an author, and claims writing is the most fun she’s ever had while wearing her sock monkey pajamas. She also enjoys gardening, cooking, and adopting abandoned curbside furniture to refurbish into treasures.
Bulletproof Bride was wacky crazy fun, with jokes about Bond and all sorts of things.
Tessa works at the bank and is planning her wedding to man who seems suitable, they both want the same things in life but preparations keep going wrong and her best friend tells her maybe it is fate, but Tessa wants a secure life, the one she didn't have because of her famous hedonistic mother. Also she has body issues since her mother and brother pushed her aside and is determined not to let passion rule her life. She walks into the vault and is kidnapped by the most gentlest kidnapper but Tessa gets angry and even and escapes.
Her kidnapper as she later finds out after someone tries to threaten her with a gun is undercover FBI agent Gabe Colton, who is working on fraud checks. He makes her move in with her.
Points in the books favor 1. The humor, they even joke in bed and the innuendos. 2. Saying that Gabe is gay and then him trying to act all fluttery in front of the fiancee. 3. Tessa telling Gabe not to kiss her since she is engaged and it would be unfair. 4. She herself coming to the realization that she was settling because of her fears. 5. The way Tessa doesn't let Gabe's secretiveness put her off and needles him. 6. Oh and a hero who is human and gets scared emotionally and Tess saving the day many times.
I enjoyed the book for the most part maybe because it didn't take itself that seriously.
I have read every book Ms. Duncan has written. This one smacked my funny bone and plucked at my heart strings. I recommend this book if you want to laugh yourself silly and gasp at the adventure the Gabe and Tessa had into. Now waiting impatiently for her next book!
I find that I really love Diana Duncan novels. This book was interesting because it seemed like multiple stories in one novel. Tessa is the woman who is getting married in a week. She plays by the rules and she's trying to figure out if working at the bank is best for her future. She likes the work and she's good at it. Oh and she probably shouldn't be marrying her fiance.
Gabe is a secret agent who has a bit of a devil may care attitude but he gets the job done. No complications but plenty of fun. They meet when he is robbing the bank where Tessa works. What's hilarious about the whole scenario is that she just calmly follows along. She terrified but must keep others safe. He thinks that his kidnapping will keep her safe. Both are wrong.
What I really enjoyed about this novel is that Tessa and Gabe seem very well matched. She is calm, collected and quick on the mark when they are being pursued and she is observant enough to realize when people are trying to play her. Gabe on the other hand seems to only let down his guard with her and break all of his own career rules. These two are super fun together and I enjoyed every page!
Heroine works at a bank and gets kidnapped by a bank robber—who really isn’t a bank robber at all, but an undercover gov’t agent working a money laundering case. She’s seen something she shouldn’t have and her life is in danger. She escapes from him a few times, he rescues her from assassins a time or two and eventually they work together to solve the crime while falling in love. She’s engaged, but fiancé is really in love with someone else, so that’s okay. Things work out all round, and they solve the crime too.
