Poetry. Illustrated with photographs by Naomi Yang. AFTERIMAGE is the testimonial of a survivor's son. A hybrid work—part treatise, part memoir, part lyric—the text thinks through a problem prompted by confusions between the author's imagination and his father's "Do we only tell each other's stories? Ask others to tell our own? Can we tell our own? Or is that what stories are for—to tell someone else's, and allow another to tell yours?"
Damon Krukowski is a writer and musician. Author of The New Analog: Listening and Reconnecting in a Digital World, he has taught writing and sound (and writing about sound) at Harvard University. He was in the indie rock band Galaxie 500 and is currently one half of the folk-rock duo Damon & Naomi. He lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Has the dream-like logic and near prose-poetry of the earlier collection but seems more thematically robust. Flows like a travelogue or diary through many things (Cage, Chris Marker, the Surrealists, World War II).
