By a RC priest. Thought it would be interesting. Title is deceiving: not much history, and not much reflection on the historical development of what went into the AC. Reads more like an intentionally humorous devotional. A few good observations, mostly dull though. It's like chicken soup for the soul meets historical theology. Thinks Mary is super cool. Definitely not something to add to your must reads for 2018.
Not quite what you expect from the title. Think more musing of an entertaining man than actual theology. Fr Longenecker is interesting and starts the whole book with the premise that religion is not only boring but sterilized and thus needs to be turned on its head. Then he takes each phrase in the creed and expostulates in this upside down way to make it alive and dangerous and religious not sterile. If you want a theological breakdown of the meaning you only find it here after turning your own self upside down.
