I read this for the summer reading program at my library. I was interested to see if I could really learn how to decorate cakes by reading a book. I'm not so sure, the designs don't look or sound so easy. I did enjoy some of the tips and the recipes sound good.

Very easy to follow, but most of what it tells you comes straight from the back of tubes of icing, and backs of cake mixes. However, the brief section on fondant and recipes/handling methods/materials for making fondant was worth the read. Otherwise, this is best for someone creating their very first cake from scratch. More experienced bakers will most likely tend to speed read to find some helpful tips, but not very many.

Just an all around excellent book for those of us who don't have much of a clue about cake decorating. Best chocolate mousse cake filling recipe ever!
