El fresno: 4,5
Pyol: 3
La tarde de una niña: 5
La nieve y las flores: 3,5
Me llamo Aru: 4
La esfera de cristal: 4

Nunca me cansaré de ver las ilustraciones de la autora y las historias recopiladas en el tomo son hermosas y captan la atención desde la primera página. Lo único que lamento es no poder leer la continuación de estas historias en su serie regular.

Prototaip Rama-Rama, sebuah buku koleksi komik dari Korea Selatan yg mengumpulkan 6 komik pendek yg kebanyakannya bergenre fantasi + slice of life. Pembinaan plot kebanyakan komik dalam buku ni lemah, susah sikit nak faham jalan ceritanya. Tapi lukisan gaya manhwa yg digunakan cantik betul. Selain itu, pelukis juga nampaknya banyak memaparkan budaya Korea dalam lukisannya. Komik yg paling best rasanya yg bertajuk Byul (Bintang), sebuah komik bergenre slice of life...

Honestly, I just picked this up because it was a cheap bargain. I was thoroughly confused throughout the entire story, the plot wasn’t clear to me so perhaps I read it wrong. Might need to re-read.

This was another book that I got because the cover looked cool. This manga contains several short stories revolving around a girl who was born from the sky. Supposedly this is a preview of a manga series that is going to be published with these characters.

The illustrations are top notch and beautiful. The writing itself is very mature for a manga; meaning there is a lot of philosophy, deep thinking, and beautiful writing. The characters are extremely well-developed, especially for a mango. I was amazed at how much you learn about the characters and care about them by the end of the manga. This is more of a drama type of manga, although there are some action scenes, they are limited.

Definitely better than I was expecting. The story is engaging, the illustration beautiful. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for the start of the manga series.

Korean manwha with each chapter being a type of precursor for the eventual comic. The style is pretty but can come across as a little bit flat with the eyes having no real emotion just like anime. The names can be a little bit difficult to follow as well. The way Tokyopop arranged the speech bubbles is herky-jerky, where there’s a lot of space and sometimes they get caught in the binding. The writing very much resembles a novel, “I just remember the fragrance of thyme tickling my nose and the shade of the ash tree being cool.”

Ash Tree: A little girl (So-Ryu) gets captured by her father’s political enemies and they blind her. She has a philosophical conversation with her kidnapper who is quite nice to her but she can see into the future that he will die when her father comes to rescue her.

Star crossed: An escort mission turns into a secret love affair.

A child’s afternoon: A little girl and a little boy make unlikely friends until he drops a vase on her head.

Snow to the flower: Those two children are grown up now and he feels bad about what he did.

I am ah-ru: Guess this little girl’s name. A story about traveling and remembering parents.

Glass ball: Still on the two children and the vase. Another mission isn’t what you expect as a small girl is fully capable of defending herself.

Edit. He visto que hay otros seis tomos, pero solo los he encontrado en francés. Por si sirve de alguna ayuda.

Probably would’ve enjoyed this a lot more if it had been more clear. Everything blended together way too easy and I couldn’t keep the characters names straight. It caused me to think that the characters were all the same instead of separate stories (aka the major part of my frustration/confusion.)
I will say the artwork is very pretty though.

Honestly when I was reading this, I can’t even understand anything. The words seems to sort of jumbled up? Plus the last 3 short stories seems to be related to each other but until the end, I can’t even seem to grasp the plot? The drawing makes every characters look the same to me. The drawing is so-so plus the storyline is basically confusing.

This was really interesting. I'm not sure if I'm interested enough to seek more, as I felt the characters were a bit boring. The idea was interesting, and the character designs were cool. I'm on the fence, really.

A setting with a nice touch of originality, which however shows the problem most short stories have: irregular introduction and little development. The first two stories aren't directly linked to the main protagonists of the others, and although the first one is decently presented and it's possible to extract some symbolism from it, the second is completely average in both premise and conclusion.

The third, which initiates the rest of the stories, has an interesting premise but the narration between chapters is messy and characterisation very weak, since the manhwa does not provide any reasons for feelings or consequent actions. Dialogues are often very out-of-time, although that might be due to the translation. On the other hand, even if the designs are pretty the art looks very awkward at times. Its curiosities and attempts to be original made it entertaining, but this volume is not success. What is, however, is its beautiful cover illustration. With certainty what inclined me to me buy it.

Some thoughts upon reading the licensed edition, having previously stumbled my way through the original Korean: The art is still gorgeous, the story still bittersweet. Although we have hints of larger conflicts in this world of traditional homes, airships, and swords, Kim's main concerns are with relationships that can't be spoken for one reason or another, such as duty and cluelessness. Note to unwarned readers: this is a collection of side stories to the subsequent series Nabi, which is not yet licensed in the US. Do not come to this book expecting the beginning of a longer series, or a single overarching narrative.

I picked this up as a cheapy bargain book and I wasn't expecting much for the $3 or $4 I paid, and unfortunately, I really didn't get much. Reviews said this book is the precursor to a series, and it introduces the characters in what's to follow. Some of the stories were interesting, but I felt like the artwork was really lacking something (a pulse maybe?) and the two just didn't blend well together. Many of the characters also looked so much alike it was easy to get lost while reading in regards to who was doing or said what.

It just wasn't that good and I'll probably be re-homing it soon enough.
