Un libro a caso, una scommessa con me stesso se riuscivo a iniziarlo. Mi è capitato questo che lentamente ho apprezzato. Un libro storico, spionaggio. L’autore ha conque anni quando viene eretto il Muro a Berlino. A diciotto si è arruolato come cadetto ufficiale nell'esercito della Germania Ovest presso Hannover e, tra il 1977 e il 1989, ha condotto ventitrè missioni dell'Elitekommando Ost, il corpo speciale tedesco in azione dietro le linee nemiche dell'ex Germania Est. In questo libro T. S. racconta le operazioni del corpo speciale, addestrato negli Stati Uniti e segretamente istruito sia dagli eserciti ufficiali sia dai servizi segreti americani e tedeschi, il cui scopo era destabilizzare il governo della Germania orientale e portare oltra la linea di confine i disertori di importanza strategica.

Chi è appassionato di spionaggio non può lasciarsi sfuggire questo libro che descrive in maniera puntuale e frenetica le gesta del capo di un commando fantasma, un ex agente che rivela eroismi e delitti della guerra segreta contro il comunismo, tra il '77 e il '99. Un libro che scorre come un romanzo d'azione ma che è la ricostruzione di vere operazioni compiute da questo autore contro il blocco sovietico negli anni della guerra fredda. Appassionante.

Elite commando, set up in West Germany to carry out operations in the DDR.
It was exciting, but as with Andy McNab's books on SAS, I found the language barren. A pity, I think - an interesting book that could have been even more so with some additional editorial work.
