An autobiographical account of extreme resiliency, as Dr. Lisa Ramirez recounts her early childhood experiences facing brutal instances of neglect andd abuse at the hands of those that should have offered love, comfort, and protection. She shares her journey to find meaning in suffering and purpose by choice.
A very plain and simple reading, but very moving. It is incredible that Ramirez has been able to forgive what has happened to her. She was especially tactful in describing her sexual abuse, avoiding details where unnecessary, but still managing to convey the horror she endured in her childhood. What is particularly moving to me is her refusal to blame any personal failure on anyone else. She took the hand that was dealt her and ran with it. She overcame her obstacles and recognizes her ability to help others overcome similar trials by the same means. This book was leant to me by a co-worker who is very close friends with Ramirez. I'm not sure if this book is available for sale just yet.
