That Touch of Love
Sometimes, life is complicated when it should be simple. When beautifully curvy 5’2’ Dahlia with dark curls and dark eyes and her parents moved to Virginia Dale, a smaller, rural community near Grand Lake, the high school co-ed had never expected that within minutes of arriving at a party she would meet two handsome, older students—best friends—Ranger Slade and his best friend Dean who would shape her future, bringing both laughter and tears.
And, if life were simple, Ranger, who technically met Dolly first, would have claimed her as his girlfriend and they would have become another happily-ever-after tale of love and happiness. But life chooses the long road, the more complicated road, to happiness.
So, meeting Dolly first doesn’t guarantee Ranger the prize of Dolly’s love—not when his best friend Dean acts first securing the newcomer’s attention and agreement to attend the prom with him. And now, over a decade after that first meeting, the lives of Dolly, Dean and Ranger are still twined together, but now, more filled with sorrows than happiness as the promises of their young, teenage attractions have been filled with the unexpected shadows and sorrows that come when the good die young.
No one tells the tale of that look, touch and feeling of love as well as Alexis Winter. And, no family demonstrates the positive impact of that look, touch and feeling of love more than the Slade family of Colorado. Now, the next generation is stepping up, influenced by the strong men and loving women of their family and ready to take the reins of operating the brewery and ranch, carrying the family name into the next generation. Now, the 3rd generation family brewery has spread from being a regional distillery to a national entity, offering its original whiskey, and now, offering beers and seltzers. And with the younger generation at the helm, other changes are coming as the next generation of Slade men begin the challenge of replicating the Colorado ranching operations of the family at a second site in Texas.
It is not necessary to have read any of the previous novels involving the Slade family—but after reading one Slade’s tale of life’s challenges and love’s rewards, why not read the others? And, as Winters again invites her reading audience into the world of the Slade family of Grand Lake and the smaller community of Virginia Dale, Colorado she teases the reader’s heart and imagination offering a bevy of handsome and beautiful family members in possession of fortunes and definitely in need of a wives or husbands.
I purchased a copy of this romance with Kindle and am already anticipating the next tale of the Slade family. I hope there will be future tales of love featuring the Slade cousins.
