Hungry Tide

Rate this book
When Rachel accepted the job of looking after the small orphaned boy, Nicholas, she took to her little charge immediately. But her new job was, it soon appeared, not going to be all plain sailing. There were problems and there were mysteries....

It was Nicholas's enigmatic uncle, Neil Brett, and his attractive cousin, Lars Bergen, who were to prove the biggest problems in her new life.

Did it all go back to the beautiful Lynn, Nicholas's mother, about whose death there still seemed to be a mystery? And how, in any case did any of it concern Rachel?

I made it to page 100 out of 193 but finally had to give up. This heroine was so dim, I couldn't fathom how anyone could leave her in charge of a child:

-getting herself half-drowned in a tide, because taking a solitary walk on an unfamiliar beach in the middle of winter without letting anyone know where you're going, and knowing that's the exact spot where your little charge's mother drowned a year ago, is a SUPER idea;

-letting the 4 year old kid outrun her and almost get hit by a car;

-chatting merrily to a trespasser who did everything but wear a t-shirt stating "I AM A KIDNAPPER AND HERE TO GET INFORMATION TO ASSIST ME IN MY FUTURE KIDNAPPING."

She must have gotten her "child-minding certificate" from a cereal box!

From the romance-reading period. It was a Harlequin Romance--what can I say??

too lengthy for my taste. I want to like the story but while reading the story I was thinking when will this book end but a good book would give 2.5 stars

A little slow with the two men swirling around a mystery related to little boy's mom and around the nanny. Author made the attraction crystal clear but other than that why did they fall in love?

DNF at 60% as I could not take any more of the MFC's abysmal stupidity. She was easily the worst nanny ever committed to print. What did the MMC ever see in her?
