I always think it’s a good sign when I pick up a book and don’t put it down until finished and that is exactly what happened with Dangerous Submissions, this is the second book in the Dangerous Affairs series

Dangerous Submission (2)

Drake Steele is an Agent for SOCO and his mission is to go undercover as a dom to Robbie Carrington, his task is to ensure the safety of an MI-6  IT specialist, to enable him to extract information needed to expose an underground criminal responsible for selling arms and stolen art, and Robbie a sassy, redheaded twink who also happens to be the son of a Duke is to play his sub in an effort to infiltrate the gang at a sex and BDSM party to be held in Prague.

Drake who is definitely not shy about speaking his mind has reservations about the whole mission. Robbie is clueless about BDSM and has no idea what to expect and for Drake an experienced dom, he is only too aware that for it to work there needs to be trust and chemistry between a dom and his sub and it certainly takes longer than two days to build that kind of connection. But Robbie surprises him and is curious, and even though twinks are not his type he feels the stirrings of an attraction which is only enhanced by Robbie’s submissive nature, he can see the attraction and the desire in his eyes and the blush to his cheeks which were all unmistakeable… Robbie was definitely interested, with BDSM also seeming to be his kink and he is adamant that he wants it to be more than just work, but mixing pleasure and business could spell disaster for their mission.

Poor Drake is trying to play it by the book but he is a man in conflict between his lust and emotions and his sense of duty, trying to keep his head in the game and pulling back from his overwhelming desire to protect and claim Robbie as his own. Only Robbie is not making it easy for him, he was behaving like a bratty little sub teasing and tantalising the poor man to frustration, Robbie wants to submit and give himself and his control over to Drake, and it was becoming all too easy for Drake to forget they were on a mission and that the intense emotional connection between them was not just the job… for both of them it was becoming personal and Drake’s heart and mind was beginning to melt and fall for the wayward, fiery, twink with a temper that was blatantly looking for a whipping!

I loved Robbie… he was just so naughty, having his little strops, but it wasn’t all for attention, Drake was blowing hot and cold and giving off mixed signals! I really would have liked an insight into Robbie's thoughts, especially when he was trying every trick in the book to get Drake to notice him, and it’s not as though he didn’t, he was just trying to deal with the battle of wills going on with his conscience and Robbie didn’t know whether he was coming or going... something he had no qualms in voicing his opinion on, letting Drake know just how pissed off he was!

I have to say I enjoyed Robbie’s and Drakes story more than Tony and Bradley from The Long Con and we did get to meet them again at the beginning of this book and even though it is a series, really they can definitely be read as stand alone novels. There is a plot which revolves around a BDSM party in Prague but for me it was more about the characters and the plot was secondary, we did meet Stefan and already I am wanting to know more about him, so fingers crossed he will be in Lori’s next book in the series. This is a BDSM novel and there are some club scenes and although it hints at Drake’s experience on the scene as a whip wielding dom of control and dominance, the actual relationship between Drake and Robbie was more of a game… I wasn’t convinced that Drake was the man in charge but that also has a lot to do with Robbie’s character, his lack of experience and the fact that initially it had been a mission with both of them playing their roles to get the job done, so with Robbie being inexperienced Drake was reluctant to push it… but I would have liked to have seen that big man in total badass dom mode. The other aspect that was missing for me was a bit of background on our two MC’s… there were parts of their lives that were hinted at but not explained, it was very much the here and now.

I thoroughly enjoyed Dangerous Submissions and will definitely be picking up the next book in the series.

So I said yes to this review because I will admit I am a fan of the m/m genre now add in a little BDSM and love and BAM you get quite the combo.

This was book 2 in the Dangerous Affairs series. I never read the first one and I didn't feel that it affected this story. It could have helped with a bit more background of the series but I feel I had everything that I needed still to love this story.

Even though Drake acts like he is tough as nails and doesn't need anyone. It isn't until he meets Robbie that he truly realized what he is missing in his personal love life as well as in his private world of BDSM. He tries to keep Robbie at bay to not get either of them hurt professionally and personally but the pull between the two can not be denied.

Their chemistry was sizzling and their love for one another was very heartwarming at the same time.

This book had mystery, suspense, hot factor BDSM and pure sweet love between partners.

This story is book 2 of the Dangerous Affairs series and follows The Long Con. At the very beginning, we get to see Tony and Nate from book 1, but that’s the extent of their appearances. This installment is about another mission where Drake Steel is partnered up with Lord Robinson Covington (“Robbie”) to pose as Dom/Sub while attending a weekend long BDSM sex party in Prague. Drake is the experienced Dom, while Robbie is a virgin at being a submissive.

Honestly, I was a bit disappointed in this story. Whereas book 1 was full of twists and plot attempts, this one centers around Drake and Robbie attempting to pose as Dom and Sub while, at the same time, fighting to keep it a ruse. I actually liked the idea of this issue because it actually seemed plausible to me, but the execution was a bit lacking, I’m afraid. They needed to be close in order to maintain their cover, yet they (or Drake, rather) kept fighting trying to keep things professional. Of course, he eventually loses the fight.

I would have liked to have seen a bit more preparation for Robbie. Neither Tony or Nate, or even Drake, gave him much of an idea of what would be expected. They barely even had a conversation about it, which just struck me as odd.

I had a really difficult time connecting or feeling the connection with Drake and Robbie. Drake just didn’t seem to have many redeeming qualities or much of a personality, beyond being an expert Dom with exceptional whip yielding skills. I did enjoy Robbie though. He was quite a fun and brave, cheeky and sexy redhead.

The BDSM is heavier compared to the first book, but it consists mostly of whipping/flogging/spanking, none of which is very detailed, and it consistently gave the feeling of being on the outside looking in.

Near the end, there is a bit more about the case they are trying to crack, with Stefan the unbelievable spy and Monroe, the art/ammo dealer. This all happens fairly quickly, and things are back to Drake and Robbie getting back to real life and how they will continue on living in different cities.

All in all, I enjoyed this but was hoping for more. I am looking forward to seeing the next installment which looks to be a short story about Tony and Nate.

After reading the first book in the series, The Long Con, and really enjoying it, I was more than willing to give this sequel, Dangerous Submission, a try. They are set in the same world of art crime and investigation and the main characters from the first book are minor characters in the beginning. I suppose it could be read out of order in a pinch, but I'm always one for reading books in a series in order.
While I enjoyed this story as much as the first one in the series, I found that it was for different reasons and that this story's emphasis was different. It was neat how the focus changed with the introduction of a different couple and a different assignment.

Agent Drake Steele has been pulled into Bradley's office for a special assignment that requires someone who not only has expertise in the field as an agent, but someone who knows the world of BDSM. Drake is given the assignment to stand guard over another agent whose expertise is computers. He is not happy about it because Lord Robinson Covington, a blue blood of the first water whose is ignorant of the BDSM lifestyle assigned to play the part of his submissive for their role to get in with the criminals at the head of a dangerous organization, sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. With little choice, Drake fights his attraction to the naive and sassy Robbie who is like no trained submissive that Drake knows so that he can help Robbie understand his role. Drake is an experienced Dom with a preference for a single tail whip coiled at his side, but this doesn't seem to frighten Robbie at all. They attend high class BDSM parties in search of the men who front their criminal organization behind an art gallery. Drake must balance establishing contact and guiding Robbie in his role until they can get close to the crime boss' computer for Robbie to hack. Robbie acts out at the events and draws attention to them forcing Drake to punish him, but it does have the effect of drawing out their prey. Soon the cover story is very real for both of them. Drake struggles to keep things professional and wonders what will happen when the assignment is over assuming they survive it.

The plot in this one is two part with some focus on catching the criminals, but most of the focus is on the relationship between Drake and Robbie. The story is told first person from Drake's perspective. I have to laugh at my first reaction because at first I thought him arrogant and commanding, but then I figuratively face palmed because I remembered that he is a Dom. Yeah Duh! Actually, he turned out to be a good Dom because his core needs were to protect and care for Robbie. Now normally, I would be uncomfortable with how quickly things moved along, but the nature of their relationship was dictated by the fact that they were undercover and supposed to be an established couple already. I was glad to be inside Drake's head for this time to know what he was thinking as stuff transpired otherwise I would have really hated observing what went on in the scenes when they were at the parties. If I was uncomfortable with anything, it was not understanding at first Robbie's choice to be 'a bratty sub' when he was just learning the ropes. I got an inkling later when he tried to tell Drake how he felt, but at first I couldn't understand why he was forcing things even faster than the already fast moving relationship. Anyway, I really enjoyed getting to know the two main characters and following along as their relationship grew. Through much of the story, other characters were peripheral which worked for me because I liked the focus staying on Drake and Robbie. The other plotline wasn't ignored; it just wasn't the focus. The last part of the story was handled well too. I liked how things moved along at a realistic rate even if much of it took place off scene and was mentioned in passing or understood to have happened in the time lapses.

So, it was an enjoyable reading experience and I can recommend it to those who enjoy m/m romantic suspense with the focus more on the romance than the suspense.

Thank you to Lori Toland for providing this review copy in exchange for my honest review thoughts.

When the Serious Organized Crime Agency (SOCA) tasks Agent Drake Steele with protecting the son of a duke (who is also an agent) on a dangerous undercover mission, he doesn’t want to do it. He’s no one’s babysitter. In fact, he’s a forensic accountant with a background in the Royal Navy. That background and his known lifestyle as a dominant are what make him perfect for the case though. A crime boss is selling stolen pieces of art and the SOCA has a way in to get the proof they need, but it involves joining a weekend of partying BDSM style. When he finds out the other agent is Robbie, Drake is still has his reservations, but his attraction to Robbie and the need to keep the man safe takes over.

Agent Robinson “Robbie” Covington is the son of a duke and a valuable asset to Britain’s SOCA and SIS agencies. He is the key to this operation as a hacker, but he’s not a submissive. He knows nothing of the BDSM lifestyle so he needs Drake as an experienced dom to guide him through the weekend and convince the marks that they are who they say they are.

When their undeniable attraction starts to cloud their mission, Drake tries to do his duty by staying focused on the mission and pushing Robbie away. As their weekend progresses and they are forced to join in the activities, the attraction between them turns into more for both men. Now they must decide whether what they feel is strong enough to last after their mission. But before that, they have to make it out of their undercover investigation alive.

I liked the basis of this story – two men go undercover as a kinky couple to catch an international crime boss. It’s a good story that kept my attention. The focus of the story is more on the relationship between Drake and Robbie which I liked, but I would have liked the investigation to play a bigger part. We get a lot of Drake and his emotions, his life as a dom, his feelings about Robbie, but we don’t see a lot of the actual investigation, the entire reason they are together in the first place.

Drake is a great character. He’s strong, physically and mentally. He’s domineering, protective, and honorable. He’s the perfect match for Robbie. Robbie is innocent to the world of BDSM, but he’s not completely naïve. He’s sweet and bratty. He’s new to kink, experimenting and testing boundaries. He’s Drake’s balance. He’s the heat and spice to Drake’s cool and calm demeanor. He’s the little bit of chaos to shake up Drake’s organized world. And I absolutely loved the development of their relationship. I love the time they take to get to know one another especially away from the job. It makes their relationship all the more special. They are fun characters and I enjoyed their journey together.

I also liked the kink interlaced throughout this story. I always enjoy some kink when done right. That being said, I do have some issue with this book and how the world of BDSM was introduced to Robbie. I’m disappointed with the fact that Robbie knows absolutely nothing about the BDSM lifestyle but is dropped into the world without any explanation or preparation. I’m disturbed that his first experience is in a testing room of a kink shop, strapped to a cross, and being whipped – no preparation, no lead in, no training. I mean, I understand that he was needed for the mission, but could no one take the time to at least sit down and explain to the man what he was getting himself into? That being said, after a bit, it becomes clear that Robbie is not disturbed by it, only curious. But still, it felt irresponsible on Drake’s part and even Bradley’s and Terranova’s part to not prepare him at least a little.

So overall, I really liked Dangerous Submission by Lori Toland. It’s sexy, kinky, and sweet. I love a good undercover, spy story and this is one that I adore. I’m hoping that Stefan will get a story next. I look forward to whatever Toland has next in the Dangerous Affiars series. Recommended.

Cover: This cover by Angel Martinez is beautiful. I like that it combines both the sexy and kinky aspects to the story to create a great cover.

Well, this was a thoroughly sexy read. Two agents, who don't really know each other but feel a mutual attraction, are thrown together in an undercover operation where they have to pose as a couple. And not just any couple, no, they have to act as a Dom and his sub. Drake already is an experienced Dom but Robbie is completely new to BDSM. So, they not only are taking precocious steps into this scene, but have the added pressure of being undercover on top of that. This makes their ordeal rather intense from the start.

This premise is not awfully original but when you're in the mood for it Dangerous Submission will provide you with the sexiness and emotional complication this type of story usually brings, in a fabulous way. Although the plot suffers a bit from instant lust which turns into instant love rather quickly, it was lovely to experience the way Toland writes feelings and emotions into a fast developing relationship. She masters the art of showing instead of telling beautifully, which made me almost forget the insta-love and the predictable outcome of the undercover operation.

For example lines like the one in this quote made me enjoy her writing style very much:

'I was floating on a bed of clouds. Actually, it was velvet touching my skin, and while I slowly drifted back to reality, our surroundings came into focus. We had landed in the middle of the room on a pile of velvet blankets specifically prepared for another dom and his sub, who now stood at the entrance to the room.'

Images of scenes are evoked very quickly and clearly thanks to her vivid writing, and this makes the sex scenes extremely sexy and hot too. I completely believed the D/s developments between the main characters. Drake and Robbie have a sizzling chemistry going on from the beginning. And there's also room for some playfulness between them, which I enjoyed.

I thought it was a good choice that the wrap-up of the investigation does not coincide with the end of the story. Drake and Robbie realize that they don't really know each other and that their falling in love happened very quickly and may have mostly been ignited by the excitement of the job. They take their time after that job to get to know each other by having a long distance relationship, with Drake in Birmingham and Robbie in London. This made their HEA in the end more believable to me. And I also liked the role Drake's daughter played in that part of the story. However, I still felt that the relationship development was a bit rushed and could've profited from a slower build-up overall and maybe from a bit more friction between the heroes as well.

Dangerous Submission is a well-written and hot romance with some attractive suspense and quite a few steamy BDSM scenes thrown into the mix. It's definitely a recommendation if you like the type of undercover story where the heroes have to guess to what extend their partner is faking his feelings or actions for the sake of the job. The main characters are likable and three-dimensional sex gods who will keep you entertained - and not only with their naked action - from the first to the last page.

The set-up for this book actually nearly made me put it down again. There are things that I cannot believe for the sake of a plot and, unfortunately, I felt that some of the things that I was being asked to accept were just a step too far. I kept reading for the chemistry that started between the two characters almost immediately and I am glad that I did because the suspense plot probably only took up about 20% of the book. The rest of the book is focused on the building of the relationship between Drake and Robbie and that was a fantastic read.

Drake is an experienced Dom with a fondness for whips. As soon as he sees Robbie, he starts to get very lusty thoughts about the geeky redhead. These lusty thoughts happen A LOT. I never ever questioned that he wanted him because he thought of him all the time. This made his vow to only touch Robbie in the name of the mission become incredibly difficult, in fact nearly impossible...which is why he failed and ended up sleeping with him :D I suppose he was seriously tested by the bratty Robbie though.

Robbie does not, at any point, come across as someone who submits for the sake of the pleasure of submitting; Robbie submits because Drake wants him to and he wants Drake. This doesn’t mean that Robbie doesn’t enjoy himself (he does), but I felt that he was a man who enjoyed a bit of spanking and restraint which, as much as it makes him a little kinky, doesn’t make him submissive. He did know how to get “punished” though and provoke a reaction from the lovely Drake to get him to lose a bit of his control though and this did lead to some fun scenes. However, it was another issue I took with the “mission” as Robbie’s lack of training cold have put them all at risk. Still, in the story it worked well.

The sex scenes, well the sex scenes were fantastic. This author can write fantastic sex filled with chemistry and emotion. I’d wager that this was one of the reasons I ended up enjoying this book much more than I imagined. At the beginning, the training scenes were filled with so much lust and need, they kept my temperature running high. Drake was trying to train a submissive without touching him in a sexual way, even though he desperately wanted to. Unfortunately Robbie’s mouth gets him into trouble, leaving Drake no option but to punish him. It leads to one of my favourite scenes in the book, where Drake orders Robbie to give him a blow job to prove his ownership. Once they started to build a relationship together in the book, the scenes become positively scorching. There was no holds barred for this author and I can honestly say that I will continue reading her work on the strength of these scenes which left me needing a fan at points.

Overall, this was a book that I enjoyed. Putting aside the premise, the core of this book is the developing relationship between two men and boy did it pack a punch. With inventive scenes filled with angst, heat and passion, I loved reading the journey of this relationship. I will be picking up more from this author and I’m sure I will be reading them in the way I ended up reading this one; in one sitting and with plenty of cold drinks.

This is the first M/M book I have read. I have read menage where it is M/M/F but this is the first strictly man on man lovin. I really enjoyed it too! I know this genre is not for everyone and that is fine but if you want a good M/M with BDSM this is a good one! To see the man that is hard on everyone (Drake) soften. Robbie, well he just cracked me up with his sassy-ness that's for sure. The only thing that did get me was that I had forgotten a few times that the two of these guys were on a mission. You get more about their relationship. Which to be honest was not a problem for me. (I found this little tidbit after the fact...it explains it well and since it came from the author I would think she would know haha "The stories focus on the romance between the men rather than on the suspense plot, which takes a backstory" so if you are looking for more suspense you may not be happy.) We get to see how the relationship grows between a new sub and experienced dom. It is all for their cover at first, but we get to see how things change along the way. At first they don't say if Robbie is into the lifestyle or not but they need him to go in with Drake undercover as a couple. This is who they end up together to begin with.

There were a couple of scenes they had at the private party they were attending that were just WOW! There was also one between Drake and another dom's sub. I absolutely love reading BDSM it is one of my favorite types of books to read. I LOVE the connection between D/S the power exchange is always so amazing to read about. Usually the instant I start reading, the words disappear and I start to see a movie playing. My favorite moment in this one is the aftercare, after Robbie gets flogged. It is just amazing, loving, caring, and WOW! Aftercare is always my favorite!

I have never thought about the Dom's ever needing aftercare also. So that was something new. Maybe the way I took the whole scene with the aftercare isn't how it was meant but that is how I perceived it. Just as the sub needs aftercare when a scene is over I would believe that the dom needs it as well, maybe it is tended to at the same time for each other. Okay I can go on and on about how much I adore aftercare moments, I think that in those moments we get to see the softer side of the dom and how much they treasure their sub.

This quote from the book happened not long after the one big aftercare moment when Robbie got flogged. Drake went to help out Stephen with his sub for a punishment...and it was so amazing to read. I loved it and could only imagine how Robbie felt watching, in awe and amazement at Drake's beauty.

Welts showed, and the room faded away as my gaze narrowed on his back. His skin blossomed with raised stripes. Endorphins rushed through every inch of my body as I fed off Judas's pain high, and when his back looked like a map of the streets of London, I let my whip fall.

When Drake is called into the boss’s office, he was prepared for anything, or so he thought. What he wasn’t prepared for was Robbie to walk in, and for what his next mission would involve.
Although Robbie looks the part of a submissive, can he actually pass for one when it comes to playing with the “big dogs” in the scene?

Robbie was willing to do anything for his country that even included going undercover playing Drake’s submissive. The only problem is, Robbie isn’t sure if he can keep his true feelings to himself, how can he be able to resist Drake, when all he can think about is being his submissive?

When the undercover operation is over, will Robbie and Drake be able to go back to their lives before it happened? Or will the submission that Robbie gave to Drake help them to have a future together?

Let me just say, WOW!!! While reading this book, I didn’t want to put it down. It got to the point where I told everyone to leave me alone so I could finish it! With Lori’s writing ability, she was able to show a side of BDSM that if written by some, it wouldn’t have come out as well written as it did. She was able to use what some consider a darker side of BDSM and write about it in such a way that it showed the care and respect between the two characters.

The attention to detail that she used when describing things, even the little things like the type of whips that Drake prefers to use, to the main things like the way that Drake and Robbie look. She brought you into the scene that she created, and she showed you the good that comes from it. Lori was also to use emotions in such a way that when the characters were in pain, it was almost as if you could feel their pain. When Robbie was upset and crying, all I wanted to do was to be able to comfort him! To me that shows she has a great writing ability.

I did enjoy that even though this book was not about Agent’s Bradley and Terranova, she still brought them back into the book for a minor role. I really do like it when author’s do that because it shows to the reader that they hadn’t forgotten about the characters they have created in the past. The Serious Organized Crime Agency, has already had one book out and I can’t wait to see if Lori has more in store for us!

Drake has always been a man in complete control which makes his being a Dom a natural fit and will be useful when his latest mission has him catching criminals who frequent BDSM events. The man chosen to be his partner is a complete novice to the lifestyle and his actions early on show someone not cut out to be a sub. Robbie's intrigued though and before long finds himself longing for punishments only Drake can mete out.

Those looking for a mystery to be solved will be disappointed as this story's main focus is on the characters and their evolving relationship. It's not until the very end that time is spent wrapping up the crime after laying the groundwork at the beginning. This story is told mainly through Drake's perspective so while I got to understand him a bit, Robbie was a bit more of a mystery and early on I found myself a bit annoyed by his flippant/un-sub actions. It's not until later on that his actions are understood and I was finally able to enjoy his playful attitude. Drake's emotions were conflicted too and ran hot and cold as he fought with himself to keep their relationship professional. He desperately wanted to take care of and keep Robbie safe but didn't see how to make things more permanent. As much of an alpha as Drake is, there's still a sweetheart lurking inside desperate to get out and claim the man who's won him over completely.

Even though this book is the second installment in the Dangerous Affairs series it can definitely be read on its own as there's very little connecting this book to the previous release. The scenes involving BDSM are intense but not as much as I've read in other books. The descriptions of these scenes are vivid and sweat-inducing and pull you into the scene completely. The connection between Drake and Robbie is full of sexual tension and is surprisingly emotional, especially for such a dominant man as Drake, and I found their rocky relationship immensely satisfying in its complexity.

Ms. Toland has created another satisfying read full of emotional and sexual intensity. While not as good as the previous installment I still found myself clamoring to reach the end and greatly anticipate the (hopefully) next book in the Dangerous Affairs series.

The Romance Review (Mine is the second review.)

A dangerous mission, a computer hacker, secret agents and a Scottish Dom make for a rollicking good time.

In DANGEROUS SUBMISSIONS, Drake Steele is assigned to a case he knows will go sideways. His new partner for an undercover assignment is handsome redhead Robbie Covington. There are so many things wrong with this mission. Drake doesn't for one second believe Robbie can pull off being a perfect submissive. In addition, Robbie's tight twink ass just begs for a hard plowing. Too bad Drake doesn't mix business with pleasure. Because Robbie meets all of Drake's desires.

This is a secret agent suspense tale with some kink thrown into it. Without the BDSM kink, this story probably wouldn't have been as appealing. From a mystery novel perspective, it's a little light on the intrigue as well as the suspense. The focus is more on easing Robbie into the secrets of this underground lifestyle. Although in this story, the BDSM lifestyle highlighted is only for the rich and famous.

Ms. Toland's romance element is good. The issues Drake and Robbie experience and have to overcome are both believable and accurate to real life. The BDSM component is quite lovely. The single tail whipping, flogging and spanking are all arousing and captivating. The sneak peek into subspace is an alluring added piece. Unfortunately, the catty fighting between two submissives is all too valid and disappointing.

This story is a fast and easy read with expected outcomes and loveable characters. Both Drake and Robbie are easily described as a boy next door. Even if Robbie is part of the British aristocracy, he's neither pretentious nor shallow. He's a sweet boy who marks beautifully under the whip and blushes so easily. Drake is the classic stoic former military man with a soft gooey center. There is nothing complicated about this book other than the distance these two men live from each other.

This m/m romantic suspense is recommended to readers who enjoy a little impact play.

My Review:
This was a book I bought completely on a whim and after reading the first 10% of it on Amazon. I am so glad that I bought it because it was a great book. (And don't worry that this is number 2 in the series....you will never miss the fact you didn't read number 1.)

The set-up on this book is great just because Robbie is so clueless about what he's getting into. He just knows that he wants Drake and this is the perfect way to get him. The problem is that sass gets him into a load of trouble and hurt when they are at a BDSM party where other Dom's have certain expectations for how a proper sub needs to act.

It made for a brilliant set-up just because Drake is such a good Dom. He's trying to protect Robbie, maintain the mission, AND ignore the fact that he really, really wants Robbie. You see where the set-up of this book is going....this book had an amazing mix of sexual chemistry and build-up and tension. It made for such a fun read.

I love how rebellious Robbie is...he really chafes against someone telling him what to do, even while he's incredibly turned on by being dominated. It was a great mix. He's also just a great character. So sweet and charming...at the same time, he has a sweet innocence to him that Drake is trying to protect. Drake is a natural Dom and is trying so hard not to give into that lure that Robbie presents, but Robbie just continues to push. Yeah, it was really hot!

I liked that Drake kept trying to put the mission and the fact that they have to work together in front of them, although it was completely useless as a deterrent. He's this big, tough alpha, but when it comes down to it, he's a marshmallow and can't stand the idea of hurting Robbie. I just loved them together.

I also really liked that the book went beyond the mission. A lot of books never do that and then you wonder how the relationship will react without all the adrenaline pushing the limits. This book answered that question....and did it beautifully. Like I said, I just really enjoyed this one!

Dangerous Submission

Really, an intoxicating voyage into domination. An immense salacious canvas is painted of two agents on mission, undercover on the fringe of the BDSM world within exotic Prague. One agent experienced in both undercover work and the decadent world of discipline, where power and trust can forge an emotional bond stronger than titanium. Dangerous Submission delves into the relationship between Robbie Covington and Drake Steele. Robbie starts out inexperienced, boyishly attractive, with an ultra-fresh mouth on many levels. Drake is totally in control of the situation, both in and out of the bedroom. Together they work their case, all the while tension is brewing as they exercise restraint until the neither of them can stand it, and then there’s no stopping these two. The sexual relationship rapidly spirals with each moment as another layer is drawn from their sexual hunger for each other in the Dom-Sub world where they operate undercover, and their need to crack their case. Side-by-side their professional objective is competing for their need for each other, go from physical into the realm of tomorrow or emotional.

Dangerous Submission does not get the reader bogged down with info dumps of backstory or character internalizations , it is crisp and clean, a rapid read filled with enough sex to make the pages sizzle if not downright burst into flame. The story moves ahead rapidly in the realm of suspense within these agents’ Prague covert mission, while Drake patiently shares with Robbie what it means to be in a totally submissive relationship with a man worth trusting.

Throughout the book, Drake and Robbie have got each other’s back in just the right way. The high that both Robbie and Drake experience in their sexual sport is relayed using utter craft by author Lori Toland. Dangerous Submission is a book that will have the reader wanting to know what happens next when the wounds heal and trust if finally forged between Robbie and Drake. Is there another book for these two?

(Disclosure: I was provided a free copy of this e-book for the purpose of providing a fair and honest review)

I was intrigued by the premise of Dangerous Submission. British agents needing to attend an exclusive series of BDSM parties in order to find information on an important weapons shipment. Lord Robbie Covington, the hacker with the technical know-how to obtain the information, is new to BDSM and requires someone to protect him. Enter Drake Steele – an experienced agent and Dom, with skills required to protect and educate his new submissive.

I wasn’t disappointed.

Lori Toland’s writing was a pleasure to read on a number of levels. She has great technical skill, which I appreciated. Nothing pulls me out of a story more than typos in a book, especially if they are excessive, but I didn’t have that problem here. Ms. Toland’s story was an original take on the “co-workers forced to work in a sexually charged environment” theme and the tension between her heroes was fantastic. And lastly, the sex was hot! I don’t usually read MM, but I found I enjoyed this one more than others.

I only have a couple of criticisms, and they’re small and really more a matter of personal preference. The first was Drake’s habit of thinking how much he wanted to f*** Robbie. Not that it’s a problem for him to want that, and his desire is important to the tension, but to me it seemed to come out the same way every time and it could have been varied a bit. The other thing I found was that while I liked having all the threads tied up at the end, it seemed to go on a bit longer than I needed. But these are just little blips in what was, overall, a wonderful read.

Dangerous Submission is the second book in Lori Toland's Dangerous Affairs series. But don't worry, it stands very neatly on its own, but during the beginning of the story, you will wonder about Nathaniel and Anthony as they exchange a few looks. Their's is the first story in the series, The Long Con (link below).

Drake is experienced with BDSM as a Dominant and doesn't mind if a mission needs him to play the role. But what he does mind is getting partnered with Robbie who has no experience in the lifestyle and is going to be expected to play the role of submissive in front of a gathering of people who can usually spot a fake a mile away. Without much time to prepare Robbie, Drake has to figure things out as situations occur and needless to say, Robbie is just a wee bit bratty!

There was a lot to enjoy about Dangerous Submission from the characters to the writing style. Lori Toland really took the situation to the next level. I love a good man-in-uniform story and this had two! The scenario of their mission and the details she provides are perfect. She doesn't go overboard with the nitty-gritty details, but also doesn't leave you hanging because she missed a detail. Definitely a 5 Star story from my point of view. I hope you will give Dangerous Submission a chance, everything about this book is first class and while this is the first book from Lori Toland that I have read, it will not be the last!

Dangerous Submission starts off interestingly enough with Drake Steele being asked to undertake a covert mission. He has to pretend to be Robby Covington’s Dom in a game to stop weapons from threatening Europe. Drake is taken with Robby, but knows the young man has no clue what he’s getting himself into.

Robbie is a cheeky little bugger. He’s constantly pushing Drake, even to the point of Drake having to punish him in the course of their assignment.

Together Robbie and Drake are a great match. Drake is an experienced Dom, willing to do what he has to in order to keep Robbie safe. Robbie is curious about the world of BDSM and wants Drake to teach him, and to keep him.

As they become closer, they push each other’s limits while working to crack the case. Things don’t work out for the best, though. Someone gets hurt in the line of duty. Will this split them up or bring the closer?

My only complaint about this story (and it’s a relatively minor one) is in the beginning, Drake is constantly talking about taking Robbie’s ass. It gets a bit repetitive, but when they finally DO get to that point, It’s pretty sexy.

I did not realize that this was #2 of a series, but that did not in any way impact the reading of the story, so don’t let that dissuade you.

MMMM I do love me a hot alpha male that when he get's emotional his brogue becomes more pronounced. Throw in a feisty ginger that is supposed to be a submissive but whose mouth hasn't gotten the memo and all I can say is YUM!

I think that the song Hot & Cold by Katy Perry was written for Drake, dude could not have flip flopped more. I didn't blame Robbie one bit for getting frustrated, so I am pretty sure it was all Drake's fault that Robbie got mouthy. (As you can probably tell I would not make a good sub...LOL) But the punishments that came were very sexy.

The chemistry between these two men was HOT, and could not be denied. I liked the fact that the author took things back a step once the mission was over and gave the MC's a chance to really learn about each other.

A few quirky editing issues disrupted the flow a few times, but not so much that it took me too far out of the story. The mission part of the story was intriguing and the action kept the story moving. There was a great WFT moment with one of the character's and I hope this means we may get to see more of him in a future book. The BDSM is intense and very well done. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a little spice with their mystery.

This is book 2 of the Dangerous Affairs series.

Drake Steele works for SOCA and has been requested to go into an undercover mission in the world of BDSM.

Going along with him will be his colleague is Lord Robbie Covington, who is a computer hacker for SOCA and MI-6.

Drake is an experience Dom ... Robbie has no experience st all , but Drake immediately notices his submissive tendencies.

With no time to prepare for the mission , the only thing they have is intelligence and Robbie's jet-setting background ...

Drake and Robbie have to pretend to be a couple into a d/s relationship between lots of people who know what to look for... Drake's instincts are to protect Robbie ... Robbie's instinct is to protect Drake.

The lines blurred between the role playing, reality and the mission.

When things get complicated and there mission is compromised ... Their own feelings are stronger.

Decision, truths and trust play an important factor that could be the deciding factor.

Another great book ...

4.5 Stars !!

The Undercover work of Special Agents Robby and Drake..... is not only during the mission........this very intimate read explores the development of two men that explore their true feelings and devotions for each other. While posing as a gay couple at a fetish club to draw out their intended target, Robby and Drake form an undeniable attraction that leads to so much more. This book was a page turner for me. Hope everyone enjoys this one. Very intimate and sensual expression of love.

4.5 stars. I loved the chemistry between Robbie and Drake, and I especially loved Robbie's cheekiness. I would definitely love to see another books with these guys, including Bradley and Tony.

Slightly iffy introducing Robbie to BDSM via an undercover reconnaisance. Drake Steele is the Dom/leader in this op but I found it slightly stupid that he used their REAL names when investigating things.
A bit daft; fairly OK sex; reasonable (with hesitation) story line.

Review written for MM Good Book Reviews

Well now, the second book on the Dangerous Affairs series was just the same as the first one, and maybe not as good.

I didn’t like it. The erotic scenes were still ok but this time the entire plot felt lacking. The characters were quite odd, we don’t get to know much about them in an entire novel expect from the fact that Drake is a Dom and Robbie, out of nowhere becomes a submissive. And to add insult to injury, Drake is a single tail master, single tail, as in pain dishing Dom and Robbie has never been into a leather club in his life…

Let’s just say that this time this story didn’t work for me. Two agents of on a mission that comes from nowhere, no time to get ready, not time to prepare themselves they jump into the heart of a sex-party mansion. They come face to face with other Doms who are challenging Drake for a change to his sub, they come face to face with mouthy subs who challenge Robbie for a chance to his master, public display and a out of nowhere single tail scene with an untrained sub and in the end they fall in love.

Oh the reason they were at this sex party in first place, they had a mission, which in my opinion got screwed up the moment they saw each other at their headquarters. This was not an action/suspense story, this was I’m throwing a prop because I want to write hot sex scenes, and yeah, no matter how hot those scenes might be it got old.

The same dramatics as in book one didn’t help for the tiresome feeling that engulfed me this time, plus the frustration with the non-existent plot and oh my God, the end of this story, when the villain was a sadistic Dom who wanted to whip and take Robbie in the gallery? No!

It is safe to say that this book held no appeal to me whatsoever despite the luring single tail action.

This is book two of the Dangerous Affairs series, but can be read as stand alone.
This is about Drake, an SOCA agent from Birmingham that has been brought down to the London office to help with a case that involves going to Poland and the BDSM scenes. Robbie is also a SOCA agent, but deals more with the computer side but has been picked to partner Drake for this mission. Drake is not happy with is for several reasons one of which is Robbie has never been inside the BDSM world. Will Robbie’s naivete be the downfall or exactly what they both need?
I have to say I have a love/hate with Robbie; I really do not like the pushy, whiny, I want, I’m right characters that Robbie portrayed through most of this book. However, he redeemed himself at the end. Also unlike the previous book, this one was mostly about the BDSM scenes, developing the D/s relationship with Drake and Robbie within that world and hanging out in Prague. Not actually the mission. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed that, but I would have enjoyed more undercover work or intrigue and less ‘networking’ inside the BDSM club. And once again, I liked the fact that at the end we get an ending that makes since. After all Robbie lives in London and Drake doesn't. It takes time to make that sort of real life to have an HEA.

I was sorta disappointed, the book starts off with Agent Drake being told of his assignment with Agent Robbie and that's where things started to fall apart for me. I understand that a certain amount of 'suspension of disbelief' is needed for any book but this one pushed my bounds. And while the sex scenes were hot I would have liked a little more balance between the MC's love life and the mission they were on.

It wasn't quite as bad as book one and I kind of enjoyed some of the scenes. It was still an absurd premise. Spies at a BDSM party. At least they weren't a straight to gay trope. There really was no plot so don't try to find it. Slightly better depiction of BDSM than prior book. I will not forget again and buy another one in this series.

possibly a bit over 3 stars
would have liked more to be made of the assignment they were on which was about 20% of the story and 80% on their relationship

Enjoyable read, but the characters were annoyingly inconsistent at times. Not sure if it was supposed to make them more 'real'. Also some missing words.
