It's too bad they couldn't have snuck a bit more of Nero's back story into the film, and while I don't when this came out compared to the 2009 film, but it made him a much deeper character than the Bad Guy Who Wants Revenge (for a stated reason in the film, but I actually had a bit of sympathy for him from the four-part "Countdown" trade that I didn't get at all from the film).

It quickly jumps from incident to incident, each could use a few more panels to deepen the story, but otherwise I really enjoyed it! I'd highly recommend this to someone who hasn't yet seen the JJ Abrams reboot of Star Trek, but it was still interesting to read even though I have seen it as it gives more background to the plot of the film.
