Lutz and the party are finally back where everything began, but as they found out when they encountered a full power Archfiend, their strength isn't enough to defeat the fiends of Chaos. So, Lutz decides that a grinding session is long overdue! This time, they're going to one of the most feared dungeons in the Orakian The Beast Warrens.
But a trip to a dungeon isn't all Lutz has planned. There are many things to do and people to see. Fooling nobles for his benefit, meeting old acquaintances, and perhaps even hatching a scheme of his own. Lutz and the girls will be very busy, indeed.
It's not easy to find time to write with a 9-5, but I've wanted to get The False Hero out of my head and onto paper for a long time. My goal isn't anything lofty, like quitting my job to become a full-time author. No, I'll be happy to break even on my investment (full color illustrations are not cheap!). Even if nobody reads my books, I'll keep writing. Why, you may be asking? Well, simple--because I want to read them!
I hope those of you who've been enjoying the series will stick with me as I continue down this fun and adventurous journey.
This is book seven in an isekai LItRPG series. Read in order.
You know what you're getting with this. The only real development is Lutz slowly overcoming the False Hero persona. Oh, and Lumina joins the party for much of the story and that was fun. That may be why she's the cover character.
My favorite is that by the end, . So well-done that.
The plot and action are a little all over the place without a ton of logic or reason behind them, beyond Lutz wanting to achieve some craft or quest objective. I like the do-gooder bits it lead to, but I can't really give more than four stars for this volume. Still, it's a solid four and I'm glad I'm back on the series train.
A note about Chaste: Yup, still chaste. I still love the non-harem harem going on with these stories.
I guess this series was walking a thin line for me in terms of enjoyment. I enjoyed the initial setup for the story and the mechanics were interesting and consistent. Those things were enough to distract from the slowly growing lolicon pseudo-harem that was building.
It felt like our MC's character arc has mostly finished after confronting his past trauma and demons, so now it's just the overarching story plot that's left to serve as the hook for my interest. But this book felt like a series of interconnected side stories where we check in on various supporting characters from the series and solve a couple of minor issues along the way.
With the main plot on pause, I was left with fewer distractions from the things I don't like as much, notably the lolicon harem and the accompanying artwork that draws even more attention to how young everyone is. I really wish there were some male party members and less harem chatter. Having the MC discuss with another character how he feels more like a father figure only drew more attention to the situation rather than alleviating it.
I found myself skimming often and questioning how invested I actually was in continuing this series. An unfortunate place to be 7 books deep into something, but it is what it is.
I like the premise of this book. The setup with Lutz as the angry hero was awesome. But the lolita harem is becoming tiresome and is on the edge of becoming creepy. The story also seems to be stagnant. Not much is moving forward. Hopefully it starts moving again in the next book.
The start of the story was fine but I didn’t particularly enjoy the catalogue of monsters as the group troop through the forest dungeon with the only purpose of collecting points. I also found the ridiculous increase in levels for everybody just irritating.
There is a section in the middle of the book that is more reasonable, but then towards the end the author comes up with a series of convoluted plans that felt more like filler than actually progressing the story.
One of the reasons I haven’t liked many LitRPG novels is the authors often get carried away and the characters become ridiculously powerful. To be fair it’s a problem of some ’Epic’ Fantasy writers, but having stats and numbers to list seems to get to LitRPG authors.
Love this series. This book has all of the expected humor and is completely enjoyable. Not as many battles and certainly not as many big ones as usual. All I can say is the whole flavor of this story and the rest of the series is appealing to me. It is just an enjoyable read that I look forward to every time a new book is released. The MC and the way he banters with everybody including his own party is fun. The lite suspense and quirkyness is a hallmark of the series. It was nice that a little bit more Big picture Was explained in this book. I look forward to the next book eagerly.
Lutz and his party have gained many more levels due to grinding. More of the mystery is revealed. They still have further to go to be stronger than the so called heroes let alone the Lord of Chaos. Is it time yet to reveal that he is the true hero chosen by the Goddess? I like the action, humor, mystery, and a hint of romance. I look forward to the next book.
Yet another grand tale and grand adventures….. with some much needed exposition! I really enjoyed this book as a lot happens to set the correct path for ole Locke. I also LOVED the nod to Spice & Wolf as Locke seems to have been an otaku in his former life by taking the alias as Lawerence for his merchant alias. Can’t wait to keep reading!
Our False Hero has taken on his roll as a True Hero to save the world as the 3 'Hero's' join the Lord of Chaos. Life is hard and it's not if you know how to 'Cheat' the game rules.
Another super fun read. I wish more were available.
A very well written continuation in the series. As others have said it is mostly a filler story in the growth of the character from a stats perspective, but essential given his opponents. Will be interesting to see where it goes next.
I am a huge fan of the sections in these books about grinding. I like seeing a hero get visibly stronger. Maybe level 100 in the next book? Can't wait for the next one.
This is the seventh volume. If you didn't like the first six,you won't like this one. This book is keeping up the hype, a few mysteries are solved while expanding our main characters. I enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was fun and entertaining. The story and characters were interesting and engaging. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. This book is definitely worth checking out.
The author is powering through the book this time setting us up for the finale. If I had to guess, maybe one or two books left in the series. Have fun.
