The author has investigated much of the the history, geology, flora and fauna of Arizona. His writings include what happened during the 1887 earthquake, the reaction of native Americans to their first encounter with horses, and biographical information about Arizona characters.
Shadow of the OhshaD collects 46 of Gary Every's essays about the folklore, history, and nature of central and southern Arizona that first appeared in the newspaper The Oracle. Gary's enthusiasm for outdoor adventure and his love of a good story is infectious. This is a great book for anyone who would like to know more about the history and lore of the Southwest. The book has inspired me to go search out some of the places Gary speaks about and dream of jaguars roaming the desert southwest. (OhshaD is the Hohokam word for jaguar.)
