Blood Divided is the second book in the Felserpent Chronicles,
I have not read the first book but somehow I did not feel lost at all
Some readers might have an issue with the constant references and explanations but I definitely appreciated them since it made this second book seem like a standalone

I love the characters of Kyra and Sebastian and how they complement each other
It was a well crafted story how they were dealing with their pasts and trying to reconcile with the present and grow through it all ; their trauma , fears and betrayals and all the characters they were now willing to work with for the sake of the peace they were working to achieve

This is one story you’d have to be patient for the pace to pick up because it builds up right from the beginning until the end
I was intrigued with the suspense element of it and that queer rep in it was also nice
I wonder if she’s working up on a trilogy
I have some questions!
But that end to this book was a satisfying one

I’d include some few quotes

“Wherever you are is where I belong, and that will never change.”
Their love was really heartwarming

“truth is always stranger than fiction”

“death is not only promised but assured.”

“knowledge changes you. You can’t go back to who you were before you knew something”

“Forgetting can be a kindness”

“The thing about being feared is you always have to remind others why they should fear you, which means constantly escalating the things you do to inspire fear.”

Genre: YA fantasy

This is book 2 in a YA fantasy series. It was one of my most anticipated reads of 2023 and it was good! I wasn’t sure where the author was going to go with the plot after such a dynamite book 1. Kyra and Sebastian can now remember their past lives and that was the whole magic of the first book… the unknown. This book was more about reconciling the two bloodlines and trying to find peace. While it didn’t blow me away like the first book, it was a solid sequel and I can’t wait to see where the series goes. I love the animal familiars and hope they play a bigger part in the third installment!

Thank you to Book Sparks for the gifted copy! 🖤

I received a copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via the author.

Blood Divided is the second book in the Felserpent Chronicles, and although I've not read book one yet, it did great as a stand alone but I will be giving book one a read to learn more of the events in that book.
Kyra and Sebastian are King and Queen and have recently discovered they're reincarnations of the former Felserpent King and Queen. Both want to being peace and end the war between the realms but as you can guess, this is no easy feat. Kyra is trying to uncover her father's shady past, and Sebastian has much historical and present-day trauma to face and overcome. The pair are in love, but this has to be kept secret as if their union is discovered, it will mean persecution for them both. I was routing for both of these characters from the start and really hope they will finally achieve all they have been trying to achieve for centuries, at last. The characters are well developed and compelling, and the word building is great to keep the reader engaged in the story. This was a great YA fantasy, and I look forward to not only reading book one but continuing the series.

#ad I received a gifted copy of this book - all thoughts are mine and mine alone - many thanks @KatieKeridan #partner

(Much thanks for the bookish stickers! First time I’ve gotten any bookish stickers and my kindle loves you for it).

Wow this book! Where to start and where to end. It was such a fantastic read!

This is a thrilling and thought-provoking fantasy novel that combines elements of adventure, romance, and found family dynamics. This is a book that blends genres and almost any type of reader can enjoy it.

It doesn’t have too much of one thing but instead has that perfect blend. It’s like having that perfect cup of coffee in the morning. Mmmmm delicious!

As a sequel to “Reign Returned” I read this 2nd book with no issues without reading the 1st. The world building and character development in this book will blow your mind. I was impressed.

Survive the past. Change the future.

I recommend this one!

This ending feels like it needs a book 3. I really enjoyed this story. Discussing it with the author Kyra is indigenous inspired brown skin appearance. The obvious villain was not obvious to the characters. The jealousy thing that almost became abuse was really scary to read. Overall, I want a happy ending for Dimitri. It would have been cool to have a list of the past and present names of characters. I also wanted a sex scene and map. All the characters sound really cool.

SERIES REVIEW

This was such a fantastic ya fantasy series! It did start out just a *bit* slow but after a few chapters, I was completely immersed in the story of Kyra Valorian and Sebastian Sayre.

A love that defies time…these two had such great chemistry! Their love may have been destined and inevitable but they felt like they EARNED that love themselves…and for a ya book, it’s so refreshing to see that!

The story is unique and so fun!! We’ve got dragons and magic and familiars and saving the world vibes. There’s betrayals and riddles and so many twists and turns!

I loved the side characters and the world building. I can’t believe I missed this series but I’m so incredibly grateful I was chosen for this feature!

This was a cozy follow up to Reign Returned. I have to admit, this book was different than I thought it would be. I was expecting lots of fighting and action. While this one didn't have that much fighting, it did have some political scheming and investigation with honestly a very sweet romance. Kyra and Sebastian were so homey and lovey to each other. It was great to see Sebastian show more emotion. Speaking of Sebastian, whew that man had some great lines! I tabbed so many of his chapters. The ending wrapped up rather quickly and I knew who the villain was the whole time but I enjoyed the book overall.

Thank you to the author and Sparkpress for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Blood Divided picks up right where Reign Returned left off, plunging us back into a world where memory, identity, and legacy collide. Kyra and Sebastian, now aware of their past lives, are no longer just trying to survive. They're trying to unify two divided realms while navigating the heavy weight of who they were and who they want to become.

One of the strongest elements of this sequel is how it balances character-driven storytelling with the broader political and magical stakes. This isn’t a book driven by nonstop action, although the threats are real and the dangers mounting. Instead, it's driven by healing, trust, and learning how to lead. Kyra’s investigation into her father’s dark past and Sebastian’s internal reckoning with his trauma are compelling arcs that add depth and nuance to the romance. Their connection felt earned, not fated, built on hard choices and vulnerability rather than prophecy alone.

Keridan's world-building continues to impress, especially with the inclusion of magical familiars and the exploration of Recovrancy. There’s a thoughtful attention to emotional detail, and even side characters are given meaningful roles. I especially appreciated the representation of neurodiversity through Sebastian; it felt intentional, respectful, and added another layer to his already complex character.

The pacing starts off slowly, and while that gives time for the emotional and political threads to take root, it may require some patience. The ending wrapped things up a bit more neatly than I expected, but it still left enough questions lingering to make the next book something to look forward to.

Altogether, Blood Divided is a strong continuation that deepens its characters, expands its mythology, and keeps its heart firmly in the right place. A rich and rewarding YA fantasy sequel with something to say about power, partnership, and the hard work of peace.

Have you ever had a love to last the test of time? And when I say “time” I mean, what about a century, or two or five? Well, Schatten and Kareth had just such a love. When their kingdom was being overtaken, Kareth made a binding spell to make sure that they would one day again be reunited, just in different bodies. Schatten was a Daevalic warrior and had silver blood; Kareth was an Astral healer who had gold blood. These two groups of people hated each other until Schatten and Kareth married, bringing these two groups together. When the kingdom was divided, so did the people again.

Can Sabastian Overcome the Past?
Sabastian is just learning about his past from hundreds of years ago, but he is struggling with this current life’s past. He had a very cruel father, a very loving mother, and a tragedy that he can not move on from. Not only did he lose his mom at a very young age at the hands of his evil father, but he was also taken into another realm where he was tortured and experimented on at the hands of the gold bloods. The hate and anger he has boiling up inside of him may be too much for him to deal with.

Can Kyra Uncover Her Father’s Possible Secret Life?
Kyra is also just learning about her past from hundreds of years ago, and she is struggling with the fact that her father whom she loved dearly, may have been the one who tortured and experimented on silver-blooded children, including Sebastian. How can Sebastian ever love or even trust her when he finds out?

Two Different Lives in Two Different Realms Coming Together as One!
Despite their differences, Sebastian and Kyra fall madly in love, but their union has to be kept a secret for fear of possibly being arrested and even executed. However, they have many friends in on their secret and are willing to help reunite the two realms for the good of everyone. Kyra’s friends, Demitri, Adonis, and Nigel will do anything to protect Kyra. Sebstian’s friends, Devlin, Eslee, and LeBehr are willing to do the same. Even Laycus, the guardian of the realm of the dead, reluctantly helps Kyra learn about who she is.

Bring in the Bad Guy!
You didn’t think we could get through this without a bad guy, did you? Tallus, an Astral historian, and he hates anything and everything to do with the silver-blooded people. He has made it his mission in every life that he has lived to make sure these people are terminated. He is the one who brought death and destruction so many years ago to Schatten and Kareth’s realm, and he will do whatever it takes to make sure the two realms NEVER reunite again. But who is Tallus now? He is living and walking among the Aeles’ people, but is he a reincarnated friend or foe of Kyra? How long will it be before he realizes that Kyra is working with the Daeval silver-blooded people to reunite the two realms? How long will it be before he finds out that Kyra is on a mission to shut down the laboratory where Daeval children are being tortured and killed at the hands of the Aeles? Will he wait and let it happen, or will he move in for the kill when he has the chance?

Must Read Book!
If you love fantasy and magic! And, if you love suspense and thrillers! If you love a great love story then this is a must for you! To say that Kyra and Sebastian are two of my favorite characters in all of the books I’ve read, would be an understatement. Go get book one, Reign Returned, and read it! Then go and enter to win Blooded Diveded to continue their story. And then, patiently wait with me for Book Three! You will not regret it!!

What I Love About This Book!
My favorite part of this book and book one is the relationship between Sebastian and Kyra! They have such a true love that spans the ages! They will both do anything to protect each other, including dying for the other one. This fact alone has you rooting for these two! My second favorite thing in this book is the friendships, even among people who have grown up hating each other. These friends will also risk life and limb for Kyra and Sebastian. And lastly, I think my favorite thing in these books is the Cyphers! Each person has an animal cypher to help them through life. These cyphers are so dedicated and loyal to their person that they would also do whatever it takes to protect them. Katie Keridan did an amazing job coming up with all of the various cyphers and their names. If I had a cypher it would have to be a dragon and I would name him Blaze. What animal would you pick as a cypher and what would his/her name be?

My Favorite Quotes!
“Place one pebble in a river and it might be washed away,” the lynx said. “But keep placing pebbles in a river and eventually, you’ll change the course of the river.”

“It wasn’t going to be easy, but things that mattered rarely were.”

I think it is always wiser to ask than expect,” replied Batty.

“Praise in public; criticize behind closed doors.”

“You can’t fix a painting until it’s on the canvas. meaning, you have to start somewhere and do something and even if it doesn’t turn out exactly as you hoped, at least you have something to work with.”

“There’s plenty to be nervous about, but the greatest rewards are born of the greatest risks.”

“Father always said it’s easier to overlook similarities when you’re focused on differences.”

This is book two in the Felserpent series, but you don’t need to read book one in order to understand what’s happening so that’s nice in case you decide to pick this one up first (but I definitely recommend starting with the first in the series, as it’s just something I like to do). The story follows Kyra and Sebastian as they try to save the world as the reincarnated former king and queen. While each of them is dealing with the past in their own ways, they stick together where it counts. Though they encounter a lot of push back from the realms, they work together to bring peace and unity back to their world. I hope we’ll see a book three soon!

As soon as I read that this is from The Felserpent Chronicles, i immediately recalled reading the first book in the series last year, and I got excited to read this sequel, because i absolutely loved part one.  It was a bit difficult to again get into the world this book built, because it has been so long that I had read book 1, Reign Returned (A recap for book one would have helped). But as soon as I recalled the characters, man i enjoyed the book.

A short introduction to the characters -
Kyra Valorian, an Astral healer the golden-blooded realm of Aeles and a Recovrancer, able to enter the realm of the dead and recover those who’ve died before their time.
Sebastian Sayre, a Daeval assassin in all of Nocens. A silver-blooded Pyromancer, he wields fire.

The protagonists have finally remembered their pasts as the former Felserpent Queen and King, and now it's time for them to change the future by reuniting the realms and bringing peace to Astrals and Daevals. But tensions between Aeles and Nocens have increased exponentially. With new adventures on the way and exploring and dealing with their relationship, struggling with the past and the present, the two have their own battles to fight. Kyra has to find out her father's involvement in the evil Astral experimentation program, and Sebastian has to deal with his traumas from his past life and current profession. The story is captivating enough to keep one hooked until the very end.

I loved reading Blood Divided. It is a marvelous combination of fantasy, romance, adventure and mystery. This book was a smooth read because of the lovely writing. I love the characters and their slow burn romance, the animal familiars and the forever intriguing storyline. The intriguing new cover is phenomenal. The author certainly knows how to write a brilliant story. Full of quotable parts, the sequel has certainly lived up to my expectations. I'm thrilled to see what she brings up next.

(originally reviewed at thelibraryladies.com )

While the last book didn’t end of a cliffhanger exactly, there was still a massive shift in perspectives made with Sebastian and Kyra remembering their former lives as the Felserpent King and Queen. I was very curious how this would be tackled, as both characters now have to deal with not only the memories of past selves, but must still content with the people they are now and the lives they already lived in these bodies. And, ultimately, I really liked how it was handled here. Having these memories did not suddenly erase the romantic tension, something I was concerned about, but added a new intriguing layer to the proceedings. I also liked how these past life experiences played into the ways that Kyra and Sebastian dealt with the problems they were facing currently.

There were various mysteries that had to still be tackled from the first book, both smaller ones having to do with Kyra’s father and Sebastian’s own personal history, but the last few pages also dropped the fact that a new villain was on the stage. It was fairly easy to predict who this character was, but I did like the way this storyline was tackled, weaving neatly between past events and the current conflicts. The story had a lot of ground to cover in this book, and I felt like things moved along quickly, while also not losing the charm of the first book.

Overall, this was a very creative, well-done fantasy duology that I think is well-below the radar of many readers who would enjoy it. If you’re a fantasy-lover looking for something fresh and unique, this is definitely the duology for you!

Rating 8: An excellent conclusion, full of action, adventure, and romance, perfect for fantasy-lovers of every variety!

"We know what we had, and as long as you want it, I'll do everything in my power to give you that again in this lifetime."

"Wherever you are is where I belong, and that will never change."

In this second instalment in the Falserpent Chronicles series, after reading Reign Returned, I was so looking forward to see how Kyra and Sebastian were planning to deal with their past memories of each other and their kingdom. How can they unite their two countries while also trying to manage their increasing powers and feelings for each other. This book was really really good and so so worth the wait. I find myself glad I went back to this universe and I missed Bart a lot, to be completely honest. I missed this friend, who was there for every struggle between the main couple and for their bumps in the journey!!!
Kyra was amazing, once again a strong and resilient young woman wanting to do the best she could for her people and her loved ones. And Sebastian … as the author might very well remember, I loved him so much after book one. This time around I fell even harder for him. His trauma, his love for Kyra, his respect for her, his dedication and even jealousy towards her… so good!!!! I enjoyed every second of it!! And after what happens at the end … I am really intrigued in the next book!!!

"Life and Death are not opposites," translated Laycus. "They are like the sun and moon, one always following the other."

"I could never hate you. I love you. My shade is bound to yours."

“Blood Divided” Book Two of the Felserpent Chronicles by Katie Keridan was just as addicting as the first book! I had been waiting for what felt like an eternity since reading book one in this series for the second book to be released, and I ended up reading the whole thing over the course of three days. I could not put it down! Aside from the fantastic writing and unforgettable world building, I was so happy that the story picked right up from where it left off in the previous book.

After finally turning from enemies to lovers in the last book, the new and complicated relationship between Kyra and Sebastian is delicious to watch blossom during this book. While I love that the author switches between their points of view throughout the story, I found myself getting irritated when they were apart for long stretches. I was constantly craving more scenes with them together!

My only small complaint about the second book was the ending. Without giving too much away, I’ll say that it felt rushed, mostly predictable, and the resolution went too smoothly. What could have been a huge climax for this book turned into a bit of a letdown for me. However, I still give this book 4.5 stars (I always round up when ½ ratings aren’t available), because everything else about this book was at a 5-star rating.

Overall, I would absolutely recommend this book to any teen, young adult, or adult who likes realistic Sci Fi / Fantasy stories with a good dose of slow-burn Romeo & Juliet-style romance. Definitely a must-read!

Thank you to NetGalley and SparkPress for the opportunity to read an advanced reader's copy of this book for an honest review.

Thank you to the author for sending me a physical ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Reign Returned, the first book in The Felserpent Chronicles, is easily one of my favorite fantasy reads of the year. And, Blood Divided, the sequel, did not disappoint. Kyra and Sebastian now know who they are and what they’re meant to do. However, there are still obstacles in their path before they can fulfill their goal of reuniting the realms.

In the first book, we see great characterization for Kyra as she unlearns everything she knows about the differences between Astrals and Devels. There is significantly more Sebastian characterization in Blood Divided, helping us learn more about his past as he begins to soften around the edges. This is the best part of the sequel for me. Watching him realize it’s okay to be close to someone is such an important part of life, and it was wonderful to watch that happen.

Many people talk about the sequel slump for fantasy novels. However, the way Keridan infuses the worldbuilding and character development propels the plot forward in a thoughtful way. So much of Reign Returned is us getting our bearings with the characters in a fairly majestic way. Blood Divided is more of a slow burn, dripping information that leads up to a cathartic ending. It felt so validating for Sebastian’s journey in this book.

I can’t wait to see where the third book takes them. The next journey may just be their best yet.

In the mesmerizing sequel to Reign Returned, Kyra Valorian and Sebastian Sayre embark on an epic journey to reshape destinies and reconcile the fractured realms of Astrals and Daevals. The characters, once Felserpent Queen and King, now grapple with the complexities of their pasts, striving to forge a harmonious future. The tensions between Aeles and Nocens create a captivating backdrop, while divisions among those of silver and gold blood add layers of intrigue to the already fascinating worldbuilding. Kyra's determination to uncover her father's role in the sinister Astral experimentation program adds a gripping layer of suspense, showcasing her resilience and commitment to justice. Meanwhile, Sebastian's journey into a newfound relationship forces him to confront the traumas of disparate pasts, leading to soul-searching decisions that shape his evolving character. As Tallus, the arch-enemy of the Felserpent monarchy, resurfaces, the stakes skyrocket, requiring the assistance of Cyphers and a diverse array of old and new friends. The details interwoven into the narrative contribute to a mind-blowing experience, keeping readers on the edge of their seats. Reign Returned sets itself apart as a found family sequel that not only captivates with its compelling storyline but also enchants with its elegant prose, well-structured plot, and intricate details. This is a journey into a fantastical realm that will leave readers breathless and yearning for more.

✔️ Dyslexia representation
✔️Easy world building
✔️Can be read as a standalone

𝑴𝒚 𝑻𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔: - "Blood Divided" masterfully opens its fantastical realm to readers, even those unfamiliar with the first book, seamlessly incorporating them into the intricate narrative. While some may find the frequent references a touch repetitive, I found them to be a valuable guide, granting this second instalment a standalone allure. The dynamic characters, Kyra and Sebastian, form a captivating duo, navigating a journey steeped in past traumas, growth, and the pursuit of peace.

The story's deliberate pacing demands patience, steadily building suspense from the opening chapters to a gratifying conclusion. What stood out most was the authentic portrayal of Sebastian's dyslexia, a facet that resonated personally, as a dyslexic person. A meaningful conversation with the author, Katie Keridian, shed light on her background as a doctor specializing in dyslexic children, and this expertise was evident in how Sebastian's struggles were vividly and empathetically depicted.

This thoughtful representation not only adds depth to the narrative but underscores the author's genuine commitment to inclusivity and diverse storytelling. "Blood Divided" transcends the realms of fantasy, serving not only as an engaging tale but also as a platform for exploring and embracing a spectrum of unique experiences.

First 5 star read of 2024
There is so much to say about this book, I did not read book 1 but I easily found myself immersed in the story.
I can’t praise the world building enough, vivid descriptions brought the world to life, the magical system was well thought out. I love the way books can connect with certain people.
There was a lot of non-verbal communication, which wasn’t over exaggerated, in fact it was stunningly executed.
I like how backstories and memories were intertwined in the book, this helped understanding some things better.
Another point I want to mention is, the representation of disability and queer characters. While disability wasn’t specifically mentioned I did get the feeling that Sebastian was portrayed as dyslexic. I love seeing this kind of representation becoming more frequent in books.
I admit I am not the biggest romance fan, but I enjoyed reading Kyra and Sebastians relationship progress. What cemented it for me, that this was a good romance element, was the consent. They both respected each other and even asked if they were comfortable sleeping together in one bed, a rather healthy relationship.
What I also noticed was how Sebastians character changed and evolved over time.
But my favourite character was LeBehr the bookseller, she is so cool.

Falling for assassins isn't anything new. We've all been there one time or the other. And well if said assassin has killer abs and wears all black, then my lady-hormones can't be blamed.

This book took me back to my YA-fantasy era (I say that because they don't smush in this book, despite how much I wanted them to. Apparently, wishing something doesn't make it happen, life is so disappointing) Regardless, this second installment of Katie Keridan books was well, moving deeper into the story because the last book was all about understanding the settings. I never thought I'd love reading a book with talking animals because it's some top-shelf cringe but this book changed it for me. I love the talking bat, named Batty by Sebastian whose affinity for sexiness doesn't extend to naming pets. God help the woman, Kyra because if she lets him name their kids, they'd be doomed.

I liked this fantasy story because there's a lot of fantasy shenanigans and villains and shite that kept me so distracted I forgot my need for smut. My only complaint is that the book could've been shorter but that's well, not plausible because everything in this book was necessary. Except for Sebastian Senior (Malum) He can walk off a cliff for all I care.

So yeah, I loved it.

ARC review
A modern fantasy world divided by blood and prejudices. In this volume our healer Kyra goes on a spying mission. It seemed to go a bit too smoothly for her, but the end twist explains why that is. I had predicted who the secret big bad was pretty easily, and her not doing it was a little unexpected. But Kyra does not make the dumb self sacrificing decisions that is stereotypical in ya that I hate a lot. Instead she reaches out to her friends for help and makes a very detailed plan. That made me very happy and made up for some of the obvious plot in this book. Book one had a much less predictable plot while book two has a lot of growing character relationships that warmed my heart.

In book two Kyra and Sebastian have decided to date. This is the first fantasy book I have read that has a slow steady, official dating relationship. They talk through their problems and have a very healthy dynamic. Which I’ll admit is an interesting and nice change for fantasy. I enjoyed this as a palate cleanser from the typical dialogue and placing of ya. A contemporary romance set in a fantasy world with a world to save.

This book is part two in series, but I read it without having read the book one and I say it works perfectly well as a standalone book. Although, if truth be told, I’m now thinking that I should get book one and read it now also.

A fantasy novel with skillful, breathtaking world-building, a perfect read for those who are looking for a book to help them escape the reality of whatever it is the real world is going through at this moment, I cannot recommend this one enough! It will not take you back to pre-historic dragon times, it will open the door to a modern world that is filled with all sorts of wonder. The depth of the characters is just perfect, the relationships are deep and meaningful, and the book itself, although it has magic in it, is pure magic itself.

Also, did I say that it is beautifully written? The story flows easily, the pace is good, the time flies, and – one more thing, it is INTERESTING to read it. like, you just want to know what happens next and what do those characters do next, how they live next, it’s like you just feel like you *have to know* what happens next.

This is the second book in the series Felserpent Chronicles by Katie Keridan. Kyra and Sebastian have finally remembered their pasts as lovers and king and queen and are determined to rebuild their relationship and kingdom.

For Kira, it is also important to find out the truth about her father's involvement with the Astral experimentation program and Sebastian wants to recuperate his mother from death. Together they navigate their complicated relationship and how to reunite their people and kingdom. Astral and Daevals are two distinct realms that are divided by blood hate and history. They need to learn to live together and to accept to be again one kingdom.

I loved the world building and complex character. I liked the complex love story between Kira and Sebastian and how they learned again to be lovers to build their relationship and work together for their people. I loved these books and these characters and I can't wait to read the next book in the series Felserpent Chronicles by Katie Keridan

Blood Divided by Katie Keridan is book 2 in the series The Felserpent Chronicles. It's a YA fantasy with the tropes of soulmates, reincarnation and more. It is important to note that I have not read the first book of this series but nevertheless, here's my review!

Thank you to bookinfluencers.com and the author for my e-copy of this read.

My review-

I really enjoyed this book. I went in without any backstory but the first few chapters introduce the characters and the story well, and that along with the writing style (which I loved), made the book easy to follow along to. I especially liked the tropes and the characters were great. I would recommend this read to you. I'll be updating this post with a more detailed review soon, but for now, I definitely suggest checking this book out. I'll hopefully be able to read the first book in the series as well soon!! There are some unanswered questions this series has yet to address but should be answered in the next book (I genuinely hope it's coming out soon).

Love and Truth are worth fighting for, even beyond Death

The stakes grow higher in Katie Keridan's thrilling Felserpent Chronicles sequel, "Blood Divided." The star- and blood-crossed lovers Kyra and Sebastian continue their dangerous search for the truth about a secret facility conducting hideous experiments. But as their quest brings them closer understanding the lab's dark work, Kyra learns her beloved father may have had a hand in its sadistic research. Sebastian has a journey of his own--finding a way past the man his cruel father tried to make of him, past the man he had become, to grow into the man he wants to be, a man worthy to love a queen and lead a nation. Past, present, and an increasingly clouded future collide for Kyra and Sebastian and their friends as the knowledge they've gained has only made the long road ahead to peace for a united Aeles-Nocens more difficult.

Thank you to Katie Keridan for the gracious gifted copy.

I thoroughly enjoyed Blood Divided, book 2 in the Felserpent Chronicles! I read it shortly after finishing book 1, and after the climatic ending in book 2, I'm so eager to begin book 3, which releases in a few days! I preordered my copy and can't wait to see how everything ends!

I love how the worldbuilding expands in book 2, and we get to see a bit more political intrigue between the two realms. I especially loved seeing Sebastian and Kyra's relationship grow in this installment. They're such a refreshing couple; I love how they encourage each other, and have such a fierce protection for each other too, especially as pieces of their previous lives are revealed. The animal familiars/companions are as much as a standout in this book as they were in book 2--Batty is personally my favorite!

I was engaged throughout the whole story, and once the villain was revealed, I didn't put the book down until I finished it. I am so excited to read book 3!

I love this book! First off, Kyra and Sebastian are the sweetest pair around - they were married in their past life as the King and Queen and kept these memory bracelets so they'd be able to recover their memories when they were reincarnated. So they remember a lot of their past, but they're a little different now so it's like a new relationship all over and they're just too sweet with each other.

Along with that, the story has a heavier theme of social prejudice and the desire to wipe out an entire population of people. Which both Kyra and Sebastian are working to prevent and only they have the ability to fight the powers trying to carry out this atrocity.

Using their magic, their past memories and their Cyphers (animal companions), they have to find a way to reunite the worlds and bring balance back to all people.

Keridan does not disappoint with this second installment in the magical Felserpent Chronicles series. Kyra and Sebastian are couple-goals, and I cannot get enough of their animal cyphers, particularly Batty (a wise & clever...bat!). The realms of Nocens and Aeles are vividly portrayed, and the tensions between those with silver and gold blood are palpable. Sebastian and Kyra may be connected by their past lives, but in this one, they still need to get to know each other and navigate an uncertain future. This is done in such a real and authentic way, and I found myself completely immersed in their story. Full of magic, intrigue, romance, and adventure, this is a fantastic sequel to a unique, must-read series. Can't wait for book three!
