The Aternien Wars #5

Battle Aternus

Rate this book
After enlisting the reluctant help of a Union scientist with unique knowledge of the Aterniens, Master Commander Carter Rose embarks on his most dangerous mission yet.

Ahead of them is Old Aternus, a dark and inhospitable world where the Aterniens were exiled to after the first war. Now, abandoned, Old Aternus holds the key to discovering the secret location of the Empire’s new home planet, and the chance to finally strike the Aterniens where it hurts.

However, Rose discovers that Old Aternus is far from a dead ruin. Nestled amongst its abandoned buildings are dangers more savage than any he has faced before.

A betrayal almost derails everything, but the appearance of an unlikely ally provides hope, and the information Rose needs to continue his mission.

Markus Aternus, the god-king of the Aternien Empire, believes that he and his post-human civilization are immortal and impervious to harm.

Master Commander Carter Rose intends to prove him wrong, but if he fails this time, then the Empire will sweep through the heart of the Union and lay waste to what remains of humanity.

Battle Aternus is book #5 and the final installment of the Aternien Wars series, an epic blend of space opera and militaristic sci-fi following an elite crew of augmented officers fighting a post-human enemy styled on the myths of ancient Egypt.

The books are riddled with typos which would normally cause me to mark down at least a little, but the books were so great that I simply overlooked the flaws.

An absolutely fantastic set of books, I read them all back to back within a fortnight.
Excellent characters, strong plots, great action. I loved each and every moment I'm slightly hopeful for a couple of follow ups..... But they were wrapped up very well so maybe my hope is in vain.

By the way, if the author happens to see this, I proof read, free of charge, just for fun. A few authors on here use me for this, and I'm always open to doing so.

1 end leads to another beginning

It's sad to see the end of the story But there is a bright hope for the humans that have been portrayed throughout this series hopefully the author has lead all your hearts and mines to the same conclusion that no matter what we face we can. The story line leaves and opening for another series but hopefully it is not needed that we had learned our lesson and will Keep it Tight to our heart.

Great stories but…..

GJ you have a great story telling ability BUT You need to edit your writing. So many places with missing words to complete a sentence or extra words in sentences where they were included and the sentences made no sense. Again really liked the tales in all the Battle Aternus books but edit , read aloud and then edit again. Thanks

I liked this story, reminds me do the hard thing because its the right thing

What a great voyage of good people fighting evil people and showing winning is not only way but surviving and thriving are, I wish for another series like this. Hopefully the fleet and humanity can thrive to evolve 🤔

I thought this was supposed to be the last book but apparently not, because the book ends in a cliffhanger AGAIN.

Humanity, and being human, is its own worst enemy. But being a mind-switched god-king doesn’t seem to be the answer either. That’s what’s interesting about this series—there are no aliens in this military space opera. Just humans who can’t ascend their humanity, no matter how creatively dysfunctional they try.

I really liked the whole series. The characters were fun and kept you involved. I hope that sometime in the future a follow on series could be written to pick up where you left off.

Loved it

Another one I couldn’t stop reading. The impossible situations the Galatian managed to escape from, it amazing. I’m really intrigued where we’re going next.

A deus ex machina that rendered the entire series pointless. Uh…
