Excellent Crime Thriller! This book immediately drew me in, and did not let go. Great storytelling, vivid characters & the suspense was unreal. The story follows Claudia, a detective in the city of Pittsburgh investigating a case where a serial killer is enjoying leaving body parts of his victims throughout the city. When these murders hit too close to home, Claudia wonders if there’s more of a connection than she realizes!

This must read, unputdownable story is definitely an unforgettable one. The sound effects in the audiobook took the experience to another level. AND THE ENDING.. Well get ready for a shocking, jaw dropping twist that will have you immediately seeking book 2! I can’t wait to see how Claudia’s story continues to unfold in the rest of this series.

Well written crime thriller

This book engaged me from start to finish with just the right of moving parts and suspense. Although I wasn’t a fan of the MC, I wanted to know what would become of her and those closest to her. The twist was totally unexpected. I’ll definitely read part 2.

This book brought me out of a month long reading slump. I was hooked from the beginning with all the mysteriousness surrounding literally everything and everybody. Silly me always thinking I know what’s going on was convinced everyone was a suspect at one point in time. I literally could not have been further from the truth and the person it ended up being I had a tiny suspicion of them but pushed it to the back of my mind and completely forgot about them

I had the luxury of being a beta reader for this book and it was so good I’ll be rereading when it gets published. The character development is incredible, the plot twists feel unpredictable, and the ending will leave you wanting more. It’s a quick read for the avid reader, paints a fantastic picture of Pittsburgh landmarks, and keeps you turning page after page.

I’ve read this author’s nonfiction “Confessions” series, but her foray into thriller/suspense is bone chilling! What a wonderful debut! This fast paced read has everything you want. Mystery, intrigue, sexiness, and a gripping dialogue that makes you feel like you’re right there. This book will have you guessing until the end, while leaving you hoping she’s crafting the next book.

I will be looking at the city of Pittsburgh in a different light after reading this book, will I find body parts just laying around waiting to be discovered!?! What a creepy, fantastic book that drew me in from the very first chapter. The ending just came out of nowhere and bitched slapped me across the face, damn I was not prepared!

I've never read any of J.R. Mason's novels before, so I didn't know what to expect from "Stolen Pieces Book 1." I certainly didn't expect a thriller that would have me holding my breath and shaking my head throughout the entire book. I am impressed and think I might have found a new favorite author. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I highly recommend listening to the audio.

First off, can I just say how cool it is that J.R. Mason not only writes but also narrates and produces her own audiobooks and kills it (no pun intended 😏)? That’s talent on multiple levels 👏🏾

Now, this one’s hard to review without giving away spoilers
because trust me, the good parts? They’re really good. I pride myself on being able to figure out who the killer is in most crime thrillers and I swore I had this one pegged early on
but Miss Author Lady said “wrong again, boo” and flipped the whole case on me!

As each character was introduced, I found myself side-eyeing every single one of them. They all could’ve been the unsub! The suspense built beautifully, keeping me hooked from start to finish. It’s fast-paced, full of twists, and the big reveal? Shocking AF! 😱

The added sound effects in the audiobook made it feel even more immersive ,like I was right in the middle of a Criminal Minds episode. Finding out this was J.R. Mason’s debut psychological thriller blew my mind, and knowing there are two more in the series? Oh, I’m locked in for the ride! 🎧🔥

Mason’s debut thriller novel is a disturbingly fun addition to her previous "Confessions" series, showing off her talent for not only naughty, nonfictional humor but also seductive mind games and staggering twists and turns in this latest suspenseful nail-biter that will leave you wondering if anyone really is who they say they are.
You’ll be subconsciously peeking over your shoulder, rechecking the deadbolts and leaving the nightlight on for weeks after this one.

I was not expecting that ending! J.R. Mason kept me guessing until the very end but I loved how she pulled it off. I loved that this book combined an engaging case, a bit of steam, and an intriguing main character.

This is the first thriller I've picked up in the last few years and I'm really glad I chose wisely. One reason I stopped reading them is because I realize the genre was littered with racism, fatphobia, homophobia and dominated by a whole lot of straight, white, maleness which is just not for me. It was so refreshing to see a thriller written to reflect the real world with Black, Brown, and LGBTQIA+ characters who weren't just the victims but core characters.

I just finished this and…..😩🫣

WOW. Chile, I had plans to savor this for my upcoming trip, but the devil had other plans because once I hit Chapter 2, it was a WRAP. I was locked in—I finished this bad boy in TWO DAYS.

The story follows a detective and her partner hunting down a serial unaliver in Pittsburgh (yes, pieces of people are being left around the city… DISRESPECTFULLY). I thought I knew where it was going—WRONG. The twist had me sitting there like “EXCUSE ME?!”

If you love crime thrillers with suspense, drama, and a plot that will have you pacing the room, get into this IMMEDIATELY. 10/10, highly recommend. Now let me go start books 2 and 3 because clearly, I’m in a chokehold.

Another WTF ending that I didn’t see coming.
I had three suspects towards the end, one was Claudia. I was thinking maybe she blacked out and didn’t remember. I was not expecting that.
Her momma! Daddy! Half sister! And the dog! What did the dog do? SMH. And to find out she was stalking her damn self. My favorite line “call me Viola Davis… I’m just The Fucking Help!” Ma’am, Ms. Mason, I’m “patiently” waiting for book 2 and 3 to come in the mail. And I love the GOT reference. Of course Joffrey the fish killed the other three! LOL.

Oh Claudia.
I'm pretty sure being a detective alone comes with its fair share of trauma, but it was almost like she couldn't catch a break. All she wanted to do was help innocent people but what happens when you become the prey?
This book had many twists and turns that caught me completely off guard, and hopefully you were clever enough to pick up the crumbs that the author left behind. I love a good Who Done It, and J.R. did not disappoint.
That ending? I was completely caught off gaurd.
Off to book 2 because I need to know what happened next.

As a suspenseful thriller, this hits the mark on every level. I dare say it might even be toeing the line of horror because the suspect is indeed a monster, although the human kind - but those are the worst kind! We have a detective being toyed with by the type of villain that keeps you up at night, but then, Claudia has some demons of her own! To summarize, READ THIS, yes, READ THIS. Then go read Book 2. Then preorder Book 3 so you can keep the fun going!

Stolen Pieces by J.R. Mason had me hooked from page one. The story centers on Claudia Martinez, a Pittsburgh homicide detective chasing a brutal serial killer known as “The Piece Keeper.” What starts as a disturbing case quickly turns personal, and the twists just keep coming.

Fair warning: it’s dark, and some scenes are graphic. But if you like your thrillers gritty and emotionally charged, this one delivers. I’m definitely diving into Book 2!

I absolutely loved this book. It had me going through a gamut of emotions. The ups and downs, twists and turns kept me wanting to read more. Being set in my hometown, Pittsburgh, made it that much MORE interesting having been to ALL of these locations before. Don’t even get me started on the ending!! My jaw dropped when I read it. This was my first book that I read from this author and I'll have to check out her other ones for sure. This was a roller coaster of a thriller and thoroughly enjoyed loved it. Body parts and no bodies? Cops and FBI agents having an affair? Someone getting stalked? Yes please!
