With the assistance of advanced technology from an unnamed planet, Superman begins his voyage home-only to discover that, even at fantastic rates of speed, Earth could still be several lifetimes away. However, hope arrives in the form of a familiar species allowing Superman to hitch a ride with them, but they encounter a grave threat to their existence on a mysterious planet along the way.

Christopher James Priest is a critically acclaimed novelist and comic book writer. Priest is the first African-American writer and editor for Marvel and DC Comics. His groundbreaking Black Panther series was lauded by Entertainment Weekly and The Village Voice and will serve as the basis for the 2018 Marvel Cinematic Universe adaption.
Besides Black Panther, Priest has written comics for Conan, Steel, Green Lantern, The Crew and edited The Amazing Spider-Man. He also co-created Quantum & Woody along with Mark Bright and co-founded Milestone Media.
After a decade long hiatus he is currently writing comic books again and recently concluded a stint writing the comic book Deathstroke (2016-2019).
In addition to being a writer, Christopher J. Priest is also a baptist minister.
Of course Clark would find a way to make friends with a defensive entity on another planet. And of course he would wonder if he left the place from before too quickly without seeing if they needed his help. After being away from his home, his friends, his wife, for over a year.
Traveling in the dark and in the misery and on not quite enough life support... this is just one of those stories where I'm like "yeah that's Superman" but also "oh poor dude" at the same time frequently. I look forward to the next issue.

Art for sure saved this one for me. I mean Clark being with Dolphins was pretty cool and defending everyone is def a superman thing but the story doesn't grip me like I'd hope. But the art? GORGEOUS.
