Spinning out of the events of Dark Crisis, the Guardians of Oa at the heart of the Green Lantern Corps have quarantined Sector 2814, home of the planet Earth-and its champion along with it! A heartbreaking defeat has sent Hal reeling, returning home to rediscover his roots…and find the man responsible for ruining his Sinestro. From the visionary team of Jeremy Adams and Xermánico (who brought you the epic Flashpoint Beyond) comes a tale of redemption, loss, and finding out that maybe…just maybe…you can go home again. At least if you’re willing to hot-wire a power ring to do it. Also featuring part one of John War Journal from writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson and artist Montos!
This was pretty decent. Was a good place to jump on, with Hal returning (from wherever) and jumping straight into his pilot antics. Could have used a little more hero action but this was a good taste.
Artwork is easy enough to follow, with some fun moments.
Not real sure why DC always adds a supplementary story that I rarely care about but the Return of John Stewart snippet had me completely lost.
A fun issue overall, though not enough for me to commit to it yet.
Great first intro. Been years since I've been interested in a Green Lantern comic. I will say that the fact it made me like Hal is a good indication of where we'll go from here. Stewarts story is interesting but not fully invested yet. A 4 out of 5.
Прекрасно. Арт дуже й дуже кайф. Відкрив для себе Херманіко. Радію, що ще один ран Ліхтаря класний і він точно піде в мою копілку хороших, офігенних творів. Йду далі читати.
A decent-enough start to what will hopefully be a great run. As a Green Lantern fan who's been hungry for a good GL title since Venditti left the picture, I can't say I was blown away by this first issue, but putting Hal back on Earth on a regular basis (for the first time since, what, the beginning of the Johns run?) opens up some interesting possibilities, and I like the approach of making Hal out of touch with the world around him. The art by Xermanico and Fajardo Jr. was pretty solid, and I'm liking the direction of the John Stewart backup story. As long as it's better than the Thorne run, I'm sure I'll be on board.
A pretty good opening to a new era in Hal Jordan's story. Ok, so basically it's a complete reset to the familiar but I'm totally on board with that when the art is this nice and the writing is this breezy. Impressive show of willpower in the creation of Hal's new ring so that was different. This had the feel of a tv show's pilot episode but blessedly we have one of those as well now.
The backup story featuring John Stewart wasn't as enjoyable but that story needs some more time to cook.
Read digitally via DC Infinite. I had actually read this a couple of months ago but didn't log it so this is a re-read.
When will Hal Jordan learn to think before doing anything? I personally love John Stewart storyline. You know Guy Gardener you should really think before joining anything. Awesome artwork and fanstic writing!
It has probably been ten years since I bought a single green lantern issue. But I heard good things about this new number one and thought it would be fun to give it a try.
This was okay. Art was decent, but I actually was more intrigued by the John Stewart story in the back.
I can’t get over the fact that it cost 5.99 though. I remember the days when DC was drawing the line at 2.99. I am going to have to stick to getting trades on discounted websites and reading most things from the library or on hoopla.
Was sad to see Jeremy Adams leave The Flash after reading nothing but good things about it (I personally haven’t caught up on it yet). In my opinion, these first two issues are a promising start to his run on Green Lantern (fingers crossed it doesn’t get cut short as well) and the art by Xermanico is freaking amazing. If anyone remembers the movie Hancock as well, Hal’s current living situation seemed like a nod to that to me. But maybe I’m just reading into it.
Hal is earthbound, which isn’t where a Green Lantern should be, but I am trusting in Jeremy Adams and the art by Xermanico was fantastic. Glimpses of Sinestro don’t bode well for Hal’s future. The John Stewart backup was intriguing and mysterious. Nice first issue.
This was my first time reading a Green Lantern comic.... And damn was it a fun time! Story was super easy to follow for someone who doesn't know much about the universe. The art is pretty fantastic. Hal is SO dreamy good God. Haha this was fun. I look forward to reading more.
Getting big Top Gun: Maverick vibes from this book. Honestly, I’m surprised it took DC this long to get around to telling a story about Hal being an old-fashioned fighter pilot, but I suppose now’s as good a time as ever.
