I have taken my individual reviews for each of these novels that I have read and reviewed over the years and compiled them into this box set review.
#1 Finding Lord Farlisle: 5* Connections made when one is young are very hard to forget. I really liked Alexandra’s unique interests and her drive to pursue knowledge. This made a very interesting connection with the situation involving Maxim. Family history, unfortunate events and trying to reconnect with oneself and family were simply wonderful themes to explore. After all, how are any of us to know how harsh words and actions at one point in time will influence and play out in the future. Overall, a very satisfying read.
#2 Rescuing Lord Roxwaithe: 4*’s Oliver and Lydia grew up together. Although there is a significant age difference, Olivia has always stood firm about her intent to marry Oliver-the love of her life. It was entertaining watching Oliver deny his feelings despite all of his actions indicating otherwise. I was also interested in the other family members Maxim, Oliver and Alexandra. There were many subplots involving these characters that really added to the story although I wish that there were more details about what happened with them. The epilogue suggests some connections, but it was not the satisfying feeling of closure for Oliver and Lydia that I had hoped for.
#3 Stealing Lord Stephen: 4*. Having read the other two books in the series, it really helped me make sense of the story of Steven and Sara as many of the timelines overlap. I have to say, I really did not like Sara for most of the novel. She seem to embody all the characteristics of a 19th century mean girl. Over time, I did enjoy getting to know more about her as well as Stevens’ situation. Revealing ones fears and vulnerabilities is just so hard! It was nice to see how the story resolved in the end. I was however a bit disappointed that there was no further mention of Sara‘s “other family” members. The epilogue 24 years in the future was a bit puzzling as well, perhaps history repeating itself?
