Suggested to me by a very successful district manager in Blockbuster, Artie Kraemer I find the book and its contents invaluable.

Alas, my experience as a manager at store level and as a District Training Manager has indicated a chasm between theory and practice.

Too often ad hoc and ill thought out solutions to short-term problems have been preferred to long term planning and serious consideration of problems.

Great book but seriously ignored by many management practitioners.

Outstanding primer for anyone in any management capacity. I have owned this book for 15 years and still periodically return to it for tips or to refresh an area to improve upon. It dives deep into managing people, communication skills, coaching teams, leadership, basics of strategic thinking and how to champion change and survive in a corporate world.
This is a must for anyone leading any size team.
