This book failed to hold my attention. I did finish though. I felt this book was disconnected to the other books in the series, like the author forgot details himself from previous books. Maybe I'm not remembering but I don't recall Darcy mentioning an agent Parham in any other book, yet she says she worked with him before at the FBI. Then it just mentions her consulting with the FBI after she retired. Did they forget after Julian was stabbed she actually went back to work for the FBI? They mention her first partner agent Hensel, but no mention of agent Ketchum from when she went back to work with the FBI. Then there was the mention of her just recently marrying. Shouldn't she have been married for like 2 years at this point? It was also mentioned Jennifer was 15, but 2 books ago I believe she was 14. So, shouldn't she be 17 by now? Those are just little details that annoyed me. As far as the plot of the book I had problems with that too. She went to California to help profile the murderer, but she never did actually come up with a profile, she just kept going with whoever the cops or Parham suspected. She never told Julian that she was going to California? The FBI tells her an agent is going to meet her at the police station not to leave and then she leaves? And, the ending 🤦♀️ Parham didn't expect Darcy to be armed? He just breaks into her hotel room and she just easily shoots him in the chest. Lazy writing. Oof
