LeifI agreed to marry her. The niece of my enemy. Doing what I’d always done; sacrificing for the family. It didn’t matter what she looked like or her personality. She was an answer to a problem. A way to end this mafia war without another death. Then she walked into the room with honey hair and curves that screamed at me. A body that made me want to own her. Ruin her. But when I looked into her amber eyes, I saw it. A predator always recognizes another predator. MilaThere’s more than one way to die. Your heart can still beat. Your blood can still run through your veins. But you’re a shell. There’s no joy. No peace in small pleasures. It’s the walking death. That’s what I am. All I have is a burning need for revenge. He thinks I married him to end the bloodshed, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Nothing but their blood would satisfy the monster inside me.
Lies' is the first in a duet and ends on a cliffhanger. The duet completes with 'Links'. Neither can be read as a stand-alone. It is a dark romance and will not be to everyone's liking. Please check the author's note for content warnings.
Jayla lives in Southeast Michigan with her husband and young son. She writes steamy romance. When she's not writing you can find her hiding behind her kindle or streaming the latest rom-com.
The only thing I have against this book is that you are constantly told, rather than shown, that the FMC is a badass and a monster. I would like to see it for myself, considering she concedes a lot of time to the MMC. Other than that, I think it's a real shame that this book isn't more popular because it's really good and a lot better than some of the more well known mafia books I've read. Also, the sex scenes are really spicy 🌶 and frequent without it taking away from the story line. Would recommend!! 👌
I was so looking forward to Leifs story. It I was intrigued by Milas character. Finally a badass Mafia FMC, who was more than the typical mafia princess I-need-to-be-protected-all-the-time-cause-no-one-ever-taught-me-self-defense!
I thought their banter would be better though. I feel like Mila would have pushed back more and teased and controlled more. I also did not understand the lack of any communication to her family.
Loved that Leif knew the second he saw her that she is full of shit and actually a killer and not some innocent, sweet wifey.
Lief is tho also portrayed almost as crazy as Maddox, he was more considerate and thinking like a leader. Mila was everything and even more, she doesnt whine or complain. She has take it or leave it attitude and I LOVE IT. She is confident and strong.
