Taking the Plunge

Rate this book
When the marketing agency Regina Avery worked for declares bankruptcy, she’s forced to take a temporary position at a women’s fashion brand. She’s never worn anything more fashionable than a polyester suit, but beggars cannot be choosers. She definitely didn’t choose to work with her ex-girlfriend Margot. Margot never got over the whole forgot-her-parents'-names incident more than a decade ago, because she assigns Regina to a marketing campaign within the lingerie department. Not that there’s anything wrong with lingerie exactly, but Regina’s blushing modesty makes her less than ideal for the position.

When Regina meets model Grace Holland—the most beautiful woman she’s ever seen between rows of fancy knickers, she doesn’t have a clue how to flirt, date, or hold on to a relationship. In fact, she can barely maintain eye contact with Grace, who seems to be going out of her way to bump into Regina.

Never feeling more like a fish out of water, Regina must take the plunge with Grace and hope she manages to swim before Margot or her own shyness sinks her chance at love.

3.5 stars - cute romance, great chemistry, lacks spice

Regina, a risk-averse marketing director, unexpectedly loses her job. Desperate to find a new one quickly, she lives paycheck to paycheck to pay for her aunt’s care home. What seems like a lifeline job offer turns into a nightmare when she realizes she has been set up to work for her controlling narcissistic ex in an industry that triggers her anxiety.

Grace, a model working for the same company as Regina, meets her during a lingerie fashion shoot. They hit it off immediately, and Grace shows compassion for Regina’s fear of nudity. She helps her review the shoot photos and provides distractions when it becomes too overwhelming.

I enjoyed their chemistry and how their friendship grows into a romantic interest. However, I was not a fan of the Margo storyline. She came across as unhinged, and it didn’t sit right with me that she gets to be extremely unprofessional, controlling, and terrible and suffers zero consequences for her actions.

Regina and Grace have great chemistry, but we only get to see a few kisses. Everything else fades to black, which I am not a fan of at all. I believe there was an opportunity for some powerful intimate scenes, especially considering Regina’s phobia. It feels like a missed opportunity.

Overall, I enjoyed the story and would recommend it to those who prefer low angst between the main couple, likable characters, and a happily ever after ending.

Thank you Netgalley and Bold Strokes books for the opportunity to review this book.

4.5 rounding up to 5

Taking the Plunge requires no plunge and no huge investment of emotion or time, as it happens. And I mean that most kindly, Amanda Radley has conjured a sweet, low-angst romance set it in the world of fashion and marketing. Older uptight vs. younger carefree. Being the age that MC Regina is myself, I kind of like reading age-gap (here about 12 years only, 44 vs. 32) romances where the younger MC hasn’t yet been battened into routine and commitment by “life.” Grace has a lot to teach Regina about remembering to live. A message I always enjoy :).

Meanwhile Regina is neatly trapped by her vindictive ex, now her boss, in a job where she has to face her phobias. I never heard of (and will never understand!) a phobia of naked bodies—well, not women’s, of course—but Regina has that, which is original. That leads me to one of my two criticisms of the story. First, this is fade to black. Not my preference. Which is fine for those that prefer fade to black in favor of more story. I know several friends in my network who say they tend to skim thru or skip physical scenes. And, I understand fade to black is Ms. Radley’s norm, and so it’s not fair to spoil a rating simply due to my own preference.

But I do feel that Ms. Radley misses a trick here. Since Regina has a phobia of naked bodies, I would like to have seen how she overcomes that in the developing physical relationship with Grace. Since we never get beyond some gentle liplock, we’re asked to accept that it—that she—is suddenly fine. The subplot was a device to bring the girls together, and it was neatly done, but that device could have been played out for a an added layer of interest and complexity, I feel. Or perhaps not… since Ms. Radley chooses to keep the appeal of Taking the Plunge light and fun. Who Am I to argue with a Lambda winner, I know. But that’s why I shave of a half-star.

In any case, that added layer isn’t in the story, and so we’re left with what Ms. Radley does give us. Which is sweet, fun, good chemistry between the leads in an interesting environment.

And undemanding simpler read is sometimes exactly what I like to pick from the menu, and so I’ll be back for more Amanda Radley soon, having already picked up another by her.

Thank you to the author, Bold Stokes Books, and NetGalley for the ARC they kindly supplied me.

3.5⭐️ rounded up

This is a story about Regina Avery who is an out of work Marketing Executive. Regina posts her CV on Indeed and gets a call from a clothing company. Turns out that her ex, Margot, is a VP at this company and deliberately hires her in order to humiliate her. Unfortunately Regina is trapped at the new company earning a high salary in order to pay for her aunt’s care. She does meet a fashion model, Grace Holland, who’s at the end of her modeling career. Regina and Grace have an instant attraction, that doesn’t seem forced or fake.

Grace is super kind and helps Regina with her phobias. I liked the first half of the book, Radley did a great job of setting up the screen in the modeling shoot. I could feel Regina’s fear and the empathy Grace showed her. I would have like more of the relationship between Regina and Grace.

Overall this was a short and sweet read.

ARC received from Net Galley for a voluntary and honest review.

Taking the Plunge by Amanda Radley is a pleasant and lighthearted Sapphic romance. I found this story to be a satisfying read, though I must admit this is not the author’s best work.

The tale is light on drama and angst, but still entertaining. The characters, with the exception of Regina’s ex-girlfriend are all likeable folks. I especially enjoyed Regina’s Aunt Bess and Bess’ romance with her boyfriend in the assisted living home. Regina and Grace worked well as a romantic couple. I was pleased that the two were a more mature couple, being in their mid-thirties and mid-forties. That is also the perfect age gap for me.

Fans of this author will undoubtedly enjoy this sweet, slow burn romance. I’m giving this book three and a half stars.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bold Strokes Books for giving me the chance to read and honestly review this novel.

This is one of those stories that once finished leaves you with the feeling that if it had been a short novel it would have been enough. The argument is very simple. A woman in her forties, Regina, who suddenly loses her job, having her aunt in a nursing home for which she needs to have a significant income.

Almost immediately she finds a job, seemingly ideal, but with a small drawback: her ex Margot is going to be her boss. And Margot's intentions are soon revealed, since she wants Regina to return to her even though her relationship was nothing special and did not end well as we would say. But the reconquest of Regina is not intended to be done in a friendly manner, but rather by coercing and forcing her in a rather bad way.

In this new job Regina will have the somewhat unexpected help of Grace, a model who has an instant attraction towards Regina. She will first help diagnose Regina's phobia of images or situations involving naked bodies and then she will try to help her overcome it. And during the "treatment", Margot will not be very pleased to see how Regina moves on from her and approaches Grace.

Perhaps the feeling that it is a simple and artificially elongated story is because it does not have much action regarding the romance between Grace and Regina. It could also have been due to Regina's complex personality, who is reflective and excessively doubtful and fearful. It hasn't been one of my favorites from the author, she definitely has better ones.

Regina losing her job when the company she works for goes bankrupt. She worries that’s she won’t be able to keep her aunt in a home where she thriving at. She gets a position to marketing a women’s fashion brand by her ex Margot their break up wasn’t great and when she learns that Margot can destroy her reputation she tries to over come her discomfort of being around nudity. Grace is a model that Regina meets and helps Regina with her discomfort why Regina helps her with learning marketing as they grow closer Regina doesn’t realize how much Grace likes her and Grace thinking Regina isn’t into her because she hasn’t respond to her flirting. This was a great read I like Regina relationship with her aunt and the cute romance her aunt is involve with and Regina standing up to Margot.

Soooo good!

Regina is made redundant and the only job that is available happens to be a temporary one where her new manager just happens to be ex-girlfriend Margot. Meeting model, Grace, on her first day who notices quickly Regina is awkward around her but they just keep seeming to run into one another, and Regina is missing all the flirting cues from Grace.

As usual, Amanda has delivered another sweet romance with a touch of humour that is unique to her style. I loved how Regina had found herself, like many of us, taking a job that was out of her comfort zone and struggling. But I was glad Grace turned out to be so kind and supportive, helping her to succeed, especially when they could share distaste in Margot’s behaviour towards them both. Grace was bright and smart, had good ideas and until Regina embraced them as part of discussions, was used to Margot dismissing them. Loved how their teamwork meant two people who were being treated terribly both now and in the past, had the upper hand and could deliver just a little karma.

Regina was so cute in her awkwardness around Grace. It did wonder at times how she could be so clueless, but then again, it’s very easy to misread signals and situations so I got her uncertainty and hesitancy. Grace was very patient and understanding and you could tell she was a little frustrated by Regina’s behaviour but I am glad she gave her a chance to explain, and in the end they found a way to succeed with their relationship and careers on their own terms.

Another great story from Amanda Radley that I just love.

14th book I've read by Amanda Radley. First book read since 2021. Lowest rated book I've read by this author. And a book I started then paused to just completely read another book before finishing this one. Not because I just really wanted to read that other book, but because I just couldn't continue reading this one. Though I did eventually finish it.

The issue? Two pov book but one of them, the model pov character almost seemed unimportant to the story she was in. Which isn't fair to the character's importance to the story, but it just felt that way. That wasn't the issue, though. The issue is that I just couldn't stand the other main point of view character. I just . . . found it hard to follow her down her little story path.

Eh, I've read and liked most of the books I've read by this author. I'll read more eventually. I don't think there's a single author I've absolutely loved every book I've read by them.

ARC received via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

The only other book of Radley’s I’ve read is Humbug, which I enjoyed, but this was close to being my first DNF for the year. Not because it’s badly written, but because the circumstances in the book bordered on ludicrous and I just couldn’t get into it, so I was bored or annoyed or both for the most part. I didn’t connect with either MC, so I also found the romance flat and the ‘villain’ was too over the top for me.

I can’t explain why I didn’t like this without spoilers so don’t read any further if you don’t want to know what happens.

The first MC is Regina, who has just been made redundant at her long term marketing job, and she needs a new job right away because she pays for her aunt’s care and it’s expensive.

This was the first issue I had with the book, Regina is mid 40s and in a good paying job, with no kids or other expenses and yet we’re expected to believe she lives paycheck to paycheck due to paying for her aunt’s care. This made no sense. This may have made more sense if she was the younger character but my no means did I believe that Regina, who has been working for at least 25 years did not have a huge amount of savings behind her. There’s no mention of bad investments, but we’re still supposed to believe she’s basically broke. It also wasn’t clear why her aunt even needed help paying for her care.

Anyway, this leads to Regina taking the first job offered to her, without really researching it at all, despite being told she was recommended for the role (she’s supposed to be smart, but doesn’t even ask who recommended her) and therefore ends up working for her ex girlfriend, Margot, who is a raging bitch. Margot sets about exacting revenge on Regina for breaking up with her by making her work with lingerie models, because Regina has a phobia about nudity. Margot is such a horrible boss and person, not just to Regina, that I couldn’t believe no-one had reported her or that she didn’t get fired.

Enter Grace, the other MC, who works as a model for Regina’s new company. She offers to help Regina with her nudity issues in exchange for mentoring in marketing. The two hit it off and become friends, though Grace clearly wants more, but Regina is clueless. There’s also an age gap of about 13 years, but Grace seems older than Regina most of the time, instead of the other way around.

While I usually enjoy a good slow burn, the relationship between the MCs was mostly made up of them commiserating over what a bitch Margot was and worrying about getting fired, which wasn’t interesting. The only highlight was Regina’s aunt Bess and her friends at the home and her new boyfriend.

The two MCs don’t even start dating til the 85% mark, which meant the ending was rushed. The resolution to Regina’s work situation after so much angst about it was also underwhelming, especially given what we’re told in the epilogue, but by then I was way past caring. 2 stars.

Amanda Bradley delivers a sweet and gentle closed door romance. Regina Avery (44) loves marketing and when her current company goes bankrupt she is thrilled with a new and better offer. Only when she starts does she realize it is a set up from her previous ex, Margot. Regina is more than capable to do the work but Margot is her determined to make it uncomfortable for her and is her direct supervisor.

Fashion model Grace Holland (31) is lovely as an aging fashion model. She takes an instant liking to Regina and helps her initially with aspects of the clothing line. She is the one who quickly notices Regina’s unique phobia. Who says books aren’t educational. They both fall into crush modes quickly but hilariously can’t read each other. This is the kind of book that will delight Radley fans. For me I wish there had been a bit more time of Regina and Grace together. It felt like I finely got to the good stuff and it was over. (4.5 Stars)

I like Radley as a writer. There is something different about her work but I’m not sure what. Nothing glaringly obvious but it feels subtly fresh. I also love that as the relationship develops it is sweet. Not sugar coma inducing but rather pleasantly so.
I was slightly startled to discover I was nearly 90% through without making any notes. Very unusual and that in its self is worth 4 stars.

I am a huge fan of Amanda Radley and was looking forward to reading this book. I read her books whenever I feel restless. Her books always bring me relaxation and peace. Her stories are funny and witty with a low-angst romance. I enjoyed 'Taking The Plunge' until I lost interest slightly and didn't feel the chemistry between the MCs as it conveyed. Either way, it was a cozy holiday read.

would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this book when the first you hear that your job and the company you work for is going bankrupt panic sets in and looking for a new job becomes top priority for regina adding to that fact that the new job you get after a worrying week is being managed by your ex should send warning flags but regina has other worries on her mind and being the professional that she is she carries on but its not long before margot starts making life difficult and one being her jealousy over one of the models that she feels is paying to much attention to regina can regina cope with all the added pressure from margot and maybe the attraction she feels towards grace the model only time will tell

I was in the middle of another book when I had the urge to pick up Taking the Plunge. So I did and had a lovely time with a couple of delightful women. I thoroughly enjoyed being on the journey with Regina and Grace. I really loved Grace. Sometimes when reading a romance, I connect much more with one of the characters than I do with the other and this was one of those. Regina was fine but I loved me some Grace. And I learned more about different types of bras than I ever thought I would. Not a bad thing at all!

I can always count on Amanda Radley to make me happy for a few hours. Taking the Plunge was no exception.

Regina has been with the same marketing company for the last decade, and has become very set in her ways. When the company goes bust, she has to find a job fast, as she doesn’t have savings. She joins the fashion brand Amandine, where she meets the intelligent and beautiful Grace, a fashion model.
While working at Amandine, Regina’s direct boss is her ex, Margot. Margot is a controlling narcissist, trying to make things as difficult as possible for Regina.
This is a very well written story, we really feel Regina’s frustration with her situation, and want to slap Margot. Grace is really lovely, understanding Regina’s limitations, and being the perfect partner, and Margot really comes over as the ex from hell.
After the tension and stress of Amandine, the last part of the story is so gentle and sweet, but a bit rushed for my liking.

A lovely slow burn, age gap romance that takes you into the world of modeling and marketing.

I received an advance review copy for free from Netgalley and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Regina walks into work one day and finding out the company she has worked at for years filed for bankruptcy. As she pays for her only family member, aunt Bess’s, very expensive care home, it is absolutely necessary that she finds a new, well paying job asap. Her conniving ex Margot offers her a job she can’t refuse, even though it means being back under her power. What Regina didn’t know is that the new company is a fashion brand and she’ll be responsible for launching the new lingerie line. Margot is one problem, but her stifling fear of nudity is a whole other ballgame. Add to that the gorgeous model Grace that she can’t seem to keep her eyes off and Regina is in way over her head.

We get to see a little from Grace’s point of view and the fact that she is so into Regina but thinks she’s getting nowhere is adorable. The relationship they build in the meantime is sweet and loving. And when they finally do understand they share the same feelings, things happen fast. For me it didn’t go to fast though, it was more like a sighed ‘finally’.

Radley does a great job of creating the villain of the story with Margot. Her every action contributes to the intense dislike you as a reader develop for her. The way Regina rebuffs her in many different ways makes you want to put on a cheerleaders’ costume and scream and yell from the sidelines for her to succeed.

For me there was something major missing in this story. It revolves about Regina’s fear about nudity because it was a major red thread throughout the story. But when it came to Regina and Grace being intimate the story went on a fade-out. It would have been a tremendous asset to the story to see how Regina would have handled herself when it came to the intimacy with her partner. Somehow in the glimpses you do get it seems that she got over her fear in an instant when in bed with Grace, to me that would be unlikely giving the buildup of the story.

That being said, if you like a good slow burn with relatable characters and an evil queen, this is a good story to dive into.

A pretty basic but enjoyable sweet office romance, no tension or drama between the love interests and overall a wholesome if slightly cringe read.
A nice representation of a quickly blossoming relationship between two older women, a charming model in her mid thirties and a reserved marketing whiz in her mid forties.
It’s all very cute and supportive, a lovely cozy, fade to black read.
Not the best writing or introduction but it does warm up, some of the dialogue is a little stiff but on the whole it’s alright, some good banter and adorable crushing.
Overall the writing is okay, it could definitely use some editing and isn’t the best, but it’s readable and light.

It’s not incredibly realistic but it’s an easy read, the characters were lovely, I especially loved Aunt Bess. The only source of toxic friction is Regina’s nasty Ex Margot, and the two band together and form a friendship and unkowingly mutual crush that only grows with Margot trying to force them apart.

“You’re too negative, poppet.”
“Realistic,” Regina corrected.

Regina is a 44 year old marketing Director that likes to stick to the same path in life. Her world is ant turned upside down when she walks in to work morning to find her "stable" company has gone bankrupt and she no longer has a job. This puts ver very off kilter because she has taken on the responsibility of financially taking care of her only family left, her loving aunt. Navigating this path gets even more complicated when her spiteful ex catches wind she is unemployed and puts a plan in action to get Regina back under her thumb.

Grace is a 33 year old model trying to figure out what to do next since she knows she will be aging out of modeling soon. She takes a liking to the new marketing director on set and notices she's struggling. They make a deal, Grace helps Regina work through her phobia and Regina, helps Grace learn marketing so she has a fall back career.

In a series of twists and turns, some miscommunications there just maybe a happy ending after all 😉

Regina Avery has the worst ex-girlfriend on the planet. When Regina's marketing company goes bankrupt, she is desperate for a job and takes one at a well-known fashion brand. What she doesn't know is that the ex she dumped a few months prior is the one behind the job and has plans to use it to make Regina miserable, And Regina can't leave the job because not only does she need the money, but leaving will make her look bad for future jobs. Aside from working for her controlling and vindictive ex, Regina has issues with nudity and bare skin - like a physical phobia that not only embarrasses her, but makes her unable to function. So of course the ex puts her in charge of a marketing campaign for an underwear line, complete with photo shoots and scantily clad models. Worst ex ever.

Fortunately for Regina, she meets Grace, one of the models and they hit it off. While Grace helps her with her phobia so she can do her job, Regina helps Grace learn about marketing so she will have some career options once her modeling career is over. The two start to fall for each other despite Regina's shyness and Grace's fear of rejection making them both a little dense to that fact. Between that and the crappy ex throwing more roadblocks there way, it takes them some time to find each other. But once they do, they are both able to find the happiness they deserve.

I loved both Regina and Grace. A little like Regina, I get very embarrassed at seeing semi-naked people, so I could completely relate, and Grace was just very sweet. Once they cleared their hurdles it was a super sweet and positive romance and the supporting characters, especially Regina's Aunt Bess who was a hoot. Definitly recommend you give this a read!

Where do I start... The book is an easy read, premise of a marketing exec, 'forced' to work in an industry where it makes her feel uncomfortable sounds kind of funny. Having said exec fall for one of the model, sounds like a solid good time, right?!

I don't know if the below is gonna be a spoiler or not, you might not want to keep reading this review if you don't want to be skewed by my opinion towards the storyline. I feel like rating this 2-stars might be a bit cruel but 3-stars really seem like it's overly generous. I'd like to thank NetGalley and Bold Strokes for providing me with this ARC in exchange for my (maybe too) honest review.

(Spoiler?)

Ok ok ok... I, have a problem with being dragged down by the 'evil b#$ch' antagonist in this story and had tried so hard to rise above this weight.
Like, aghhh, this is agonizing to read through and not in a 'oh no, my heart hurts from all the angst' type of way. But literally from the 'wow, this is just pure evil... this lady needs to find a new job asap, can I keep reading this and figure out how she's going to eventually get out of her evil clutch' kind of way.

I mean, I get it, you can't always just have fluffy romance without any sort of 'good' conflict through the book. But this DRAMATIC vein was a bit much for what I thought I was getting myself into.
This underlying feeling of 'wow, I can't stand this' really got in the way of my low key, just want to be entertained read of a what I thought was a romantic, scandalous and perhaps could be a bit funny HEA sort of novel.
I'm sorry, maybe I'm really shallow and simple in my way of not looking for a book to evoke any feelings other than 'awwww'... 'oh! but you love each other! why is there a misunderstanding!?'

It could be such a sweet workplace romance if it weren't for the villain. Just like at Disney movie;)
Regina is very professional at her job, but if the company you work for suddenly goes bankrupt and you're a complete creature of habit, it's a disaster.
For Regina, a lot more depends on her having a job with a good salary. She doesn't just have to look after herself.
However, this brings her to the gates of hell where Margot is already waiting for her, who plans to make Regina's life extra difficult.
The reasons for this lie in the shared past... I don't want to say anything more.
However, Regina is much more complex and struggles with a personal problem that I have never read about in a book. Really interesting! Regina meets Grace at Amandine, the new company she is working for.
The very beautiful, sweet and nice Grace who, as a model, meets Regina mainly half-naked and takes her breath away.
Things get really interesting from there…

I had really mixed feelings at times.
Grace and Regina are sweet, lovable and a bit slow. It takes both of them a while to finally find each other, but that wasn't my problem.
My problem was Margot.
I hate reading books where a “bad” or mean character has so much leeway and power for a long time in the story.
I'm having a hard time imagining it, but maybe that's just me.
I really like Amanda Radley books because there is always a character with a personal struggle that makes them so interesting.
Taking the Plunge is a great Amanda Radley love story!

Grace Holland has worked as a model for a number of years now but the time was coming when she’d have to find a new way to support herself. For now she’s working as a lingerie model, while looking into making a career turn towards marketing. All she needed was the little push we all needed to make changes.
Regina was in marketing for a company for a number of years. She was good at her job but the company she worked for declared bankruptcy, leaving her and all her co-workers without a hint anything was wrong. The problem isn’t just the loss of a job but the salary that came with it. Most of Regina’s check went to support her aunt Bess, Regina’s only relative, while she lived in a care home.
When Regina’s ex hears of Regina's troubles she offers her a job but …she needs the job. When Regina tells Grace about her phobia, Grace goes out of her way to help. A very nice story. Hate to say this but I’m still trying to get used to the stories Radleys writing now. I’m used to and miss some of her more humorous stories. But still, a very nice read,

3.5 stars. Regina Avery finds out her current company and she is out of a job. A recruiter reaches out to her and tells her about a good job opportunity. What she does not find out until her first day, is that it is working under her crazy ex girlfriend. This job is also dealing with lingerie, something that makes Regina very nervous. She does not like staring at mostly naked women, she blushes too much and is uncomfortable. Her ex did this on purpose to make her look bad and go back to her. She meets a model, Grace and is instantly attached to her. They both want to spend more time together but Regina's ex keeps getting in the way.

I really did not like her ex and how she treated her throughout the book. I also felt like this book rushed the ending and I wanted more time with the characters together. I also wish more of the book was in Grace's perspective as I really enjoyed those parts of the book. The characters were fine, but I felt like there was also a weird excuse as to why they can't be together. Regina and Grace both needed more interactions and I really wanted to see them fall in love a little more. The whole thing was a little too short for me.

I really enjoyed the story that Amanda Radley has crafted. Three Mc’s and a great supporting cast across the ages.

Without giving anything away it takes us through the uncertainty of losing a job, being risk averse, being manipulated by an ex, having the support of family, friends and new love. Giving insight into a phobia I’d never heard of and how it can affect significant aspects of your life.

The story flows so well that I didn’t realise I was gearing up through the chapters and it was coming to its conclusion before I was ready to finish it such was my enjoyment of the story and its characters. It was also an enjoyable to change to have a book focus not detail love scenes but to focus on the developing relationships in it - both the main and sub characters relationships and its emotions.

Thanks to Bold Strokes Books and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read it. This review is my honest opinion.

I expected this book to be a cutesy romance, and didn’t think much of it. I was surprised and shocked at how much this book made me think, reflect….. and feel. The story was so beautiful and captivating. It was a romance, but it could have also been a drama or thriller.

Poor Regina being controlled by her manipulative and unscrupulous ex-girlfriend Margot was a bit triggering, and I do suggest that anyone who might be triggered by this kind of plot line, should beware. I did find the love between Regina and Grace so beautiful, especially because of the way they fall in love and the way they can make something beautiful out of a painful and exhausting situation.

This was a fantastic read, and one that will stay with me for a long time.

****Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an eARC so that I may give my honest feedback and review****

Sweet and enjoyable read. You get what you get from Amanda Radley. Interesting characters with different levels of issues. From the start, you cheer for one or the other or both to "win" at the end. This low-angst read has Regina Avery, talented marketing expert, out of a job since her company went bankrupt. She locates a "temporary job" in the fashion industry where her ex-girlfriend Margot works. There she meets Grace Holland, beautiful model that Regina finds herself attracted to. One problem with the job is Regina has an issue with scantly dressed women; causes her to be effected physically as well as mentally which is the basis of the story. Funny and entertaining. Hard not to like Grace and how she interacts with Regina. On the other hand, Margot boo, that is all I got to say.

A short, sweet romance about getting out of toxic environments and taking good risks.

After losing her marketing job when the company collapses, Regina takes a position that ends up under her toxic ex Margot. Margot tries to set up Regina for failure, but a model named Grace ends up helping her. Grace is everything Margot is not, and Regina tries to fight her feelings to save this new friendship.

I'm not usually a fan of age gap, but this was done well. I wish Regina would have gone to therapy to help with her issues. It was a little weird to only get snippets from Grace's point of view. I wish there had been more; I liked her a lot. It was really nice to read about older characters finding love. Not just the MC (40s) but also her elder aunt.

I’ll start this by saying I absolutely adore Amanda Radley’s writing so when I received this ARC I was ecstatic! Needless to say, the book did not disappoint. I love how connected she makes you feel with characters. I found myself frustrated with Regina at points because she refused to stand up for herself but I loved how could see her confidence growing as the story progressed. Grace was also a nice surprise. A model with a psych degree that’s also interested in marketing? Overall, I felt the book was well written, though I would’ve liked to see more of the relationship dynamic between Grace and Regina. Also, I felt the conflict of Grace getting fired because of Regina/Margot was never completely dissected.

I received an ARC of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.
