The sequel to The Chaos Monster brings Kiya and Kinjal back to the Kingdom Beyond, where they visit the subterranean domain of the water pari, a sort of merfolk who also have wings, and who likely came into Bengali folklore by way of Persian. Their waters are being poisoned, and the siblings suspect their uncle, the Rajah Rontu, who has a lot of heavily polluting factories, to be complicit in this. The Rajah has also declared the children enemies and put up wanted posters for them. It turns out the acid rain is the result of the tears of the Great Blah, a huge monster who causes apathy, but turns out to be fairly sensitive. He's referred to as a doito, which I believe is a kind of asura. Tuntuni, Pinki, and Sesha all make return appearances as well.

The Poison Waves was another wonderful book in the Secrets of the Sky series. I now look forward to reading the 3rd book, Secrets of the Sky, Book 3: The Ghost Forest.
