Nicki Sosebee's adventures continue...

Is a headline worth dying for?

Nicki’s love life might suck, but her sex life is great. The only way both could be spectacular would be if her best friend Sean would look at her as more than just a friend. Nicki knows she’s stuck in the friend zone, so she focuses her energies on her job. She’s becoming a better reporter every day, so when her editor asks her to interview a local politician, Nicki is thrilled. But when the politician’s secretary ends up dead, it’s anybody’s guess as to who did it. Nicki has a few ideas, though, and finds herself in deep trouble as she pokes her nose where it probably doesn’t belong.

Nicki Sosebee is a strong woman who's not afraid to go after what she wants, whether it's a man or a story. She's tough and her mouth shows it. She's a free spirit and feels no need to apologize for who she is or what she believes in. DEAD is #2 in the Nicki Sosebee series.

Warning: Not for the faint of heart! This book contains explicit sex and naughty language. Proceed with caution...if you dare.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

*pulls out Podium and coughs to get everyone's attention* I am proclaiming my love for this series and ESPECIALLY for hottie mechanic Sean *leans inclose to whisper* but I am also falling in love with his best friend since middle school Jesse....Wha is a book slut like me to do??? AHHHHH!!!

Ok so this book is about Nicki still pining for Sean (and who can blame her!!!) She is investigating a murder of a beeotch she knew from school named Sara. While she is investigating the murder, she pushed a few buttons with a high ranking official and gets an invite to A BIG WIG EVENT. She goes and is miserable but runs in to flirty best friend Jesse. They share a scorching kiss and she stops thinking about Sean and starts ti obsesses about Jesse. Jesse will NOT be one of her one night stands because *GASP* he is really into her!!! He is totally gonna take it slow with her which will make her obsess even more and drive her nuts!!! This is why I am falling in love with him. He knows Nicki and her patterns. He is going to be a long term guy if it kills them both...that is his plan anyway in my book.

The other bulk of the novel is the murder plot, totally was blind sided by the who did it and even the why of it. I was like "holy shit this is the murderer!!!" Nicki also hangs with a HOTTIE OLDER MAN....She is very sexually free and not the least bit apologetic about it *hi 5's Nicki* Get you some girl!!! Plus she is also dealing with her Sean obsession and his new not very nice girlfriend AMBER *Sticks out my tongue at her*.

So peps all I have to say about the series is READ IT!!! They are funny, sexy and had a great mystery plot!! I am totally addicted and will not stop until I have finished this series.....

This book starts shortly after the ending of book one. Nicki, once again, finds herself in the midst of a potential crime. She and Sean are still pretending not to have romantic feelings for one another.

At this point, I think it’s safe to say that Sean shares her feelings because there’s no way he doesn’t suspect how she feels about him (unless he is blinded by his own insecurities), and if he does know how she feels and continues to flaunt his “girlfriends” in front of her, he’s not much of a friend. If I find out at some point in the future that he doesn’t see her the way she sees him, I will be disgusted with him for being so selfish and self-absorbed.

Meanwhile, Nicki hooks up with another stranger in this book, has the time of her life, and moves on. By the end of the book, she’s reconsidering Sean’s other best friend, Jessie, as a potential love interest. Sean seems to be okay with that, for now.

Nicki finds herself in the crosshairs of another criminal, this time, a homicidal one. And because Sean rescued her the last time, I fully expected him to be the hero again, but this time, it’s Jessie (who had just procured Nicki’s number from Sean) who claims the role. I get the sense that Sean is disappointed that Nicki didn’t call on him for help, again indicating his deep connection to her.

I have enjoyed the two Nicki Sosebee books, but I’m going to take a break from the series now to read something different. I recommend this series for anyone interested in following an intrepid reporter/waitress/makeup saleswoman as she navigates learning to be a better journalist and potentially encountering deadly situations, while screwing around with various men in an effort to forget about the man she really loves.

Read as Bad News Travels Fast

I forgot how much I liked Nicki and this series.

At times I am like "calm ya tits Nicki" as the hormones run rampant lol

I like how she is a strong, fierce, independent woman who also shows hger vulnerability when it comes to relationships.

I had also forgotten how much I liked Sean and Jesse, and feel the anticipation I did reading for the first time.

On to book 3!

This series just keeps getting better!

Nicki Sosebee. I think I've seriously developed a crush on her. I love her character and her one night stands leave me envious. In book one, it was hottie biker Carlos and book two it's the sexy Ian.
Ian.... I would have liked a two night stand with him, but I'm not complaining!

In this book, Nicki is investigating a murder and in true Nicki fashion, she gets a little to close to the truth.
I really liked the story in this one. It was scandalous!

Other love interests in this book include Sean (of course) annnnnd his best friend Jesse! Which comes as a bit of a surprise to her seeing as he annoyed the shit out of her in high school, but hey, it's been some 10 years since then.
Can't wait to see what develops there!

I'm loving this series so far and I have a feeling Nicki is going to get herself in a lot more trouble.

Jade has written a great fast paced story never missing out any detail and I really love the fact I can pick up a Nicki Sosebee book and read it with such ease, but that's usually the case with a Jade C Jamison book.

At about 30% I almost dropped out. I really wish the h had some self-respect and stopped throwing herself at men just to get over Sean or make him jealous. It’s juvenile, and her general attitude makes her seem far less mature than her 29 years. I finished and it was a decent story. I’m also trying to figure out how the hawt, anti-government dude voted Democrat, shouldn’t he be a raging libertarian?

Mystery and Romance Tangles

Neal Black has asked Nicki to interview Commissioner Jeffery Cannon. The story leads to more than Nicki or anyone else ever expected. At the same time Nicki is still lusting over Sean and Jesse is not off the grid either. Jade C. Jamison hit the mark again with steamy romance, mystery and suspense all in one. Already started Book 3 of the series.

“Dead: Nicki Sosebee #2” by Jade C. Jamison
5 out of 5 stars

Has Nicki gotten in over her head? That’s the question in “Dead”, the second book in the Nicki Sosebee series. Used to sitting in a courtroom waiting for her instincts to let her know where there’s a good story, she’s a little bit irritated at having to interview Commissioner Jeffrey Cannon. It only makes matters worse when his assistant, Sara, turns out to be a not so pleasant blast from her high school past. Nicki decides to give Cannon the benefit of the doubt but soon realizes he’s no different than the typical politician cliché. What follows leads her into a homicide investigation that has her putting her life on the line to get her story!

I enjoyed the action and the pace of the story. Nicki continues to pull me in with her confidence and honesty. She’s a refreshing change of pace in a market flooded with wimpy female protagonists. However, I was disappointed with Sean here. It’s becoming more apparent that he has feelings for Nicki but he refuses to acknowledge them and it seems as though he is leading her on…whether intentional or not. I didn’t like the mixed signals he was sending out because it makes him appear unworthy of her affections. I’m ready for him to own up to his true desires.

Despite Sean’s indecision, Nicki wastes no time in securing another partner for some casual sex. Ian is likeable enough and he gives her a much needed confidence boost. The true potential love interest here is Jesse. He comes onto the scene completely unexpected but presents Nicki with another option for her heart. I like how mellow he is and even though I like Sean (usually) I found myself rooting for him to get his chance. I can’t wait to read the next book and see if Nicki will open the door to new possibilities with Jesse.

Overall, Jamison continues to keep me hooked. As one book ends I’m already flipping the page to start the next one. There is uniqueness and realism in her writing I find quite enjoyable. Once again, I can’t wait to move on to the next book and whatever madcap adventure Nicki will tackle next! I definitely recommend this book!

Nicki Sosebee is for sure my all time favorite character ever written by Jade C. Jamison. She fun, spunky, has a lot of fun, and most of all gives us a lot of mystery. Jade has written nine books about Nicki so far and i hope she isn't done!! I want to keep reading about Nicki's exciting life. Read about what new stories she will be reporting about, and for sure find out what happens with her and the man she loves. Nicki's best friend, Sean was the one man she wanted to make things work with, the man she wanted to love. Only thing was they were somehow stuck in that friend zone. So while trying to get her career and get the guy Nicki blew off steam with other men. Only in this series NIcki tended to make steam, Jade sure did make sure we knew Nicki sizzles. Things always seem to get messy with Nicki's life, but she always finds a way out. Her life is definitely an entertaining one, and it takes you on a wild ride with no stopping.

Dead (Nicki Sosebee #2)
When one of the employee's of the person you are investigating winds up dead, Nicki will be there to write about it. She may just solve the crime, hopefully without getting into too much danger. Nicki tries to focus on the story at hand and find out who is the murderer. Many people think Nicki needs to stay out of it, but Nicki also doesn't care what people think. And that is what makes Nicki just a great character

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

I am enjoying this series the suspense and drama is great. Each story you follow one of Nicki’s news leads and where they lead her you have no idea and the predicaments she ends up in can be nail biting. Not only do you follow her news leads but you get to see into her personal life too. Yes, we get to see more of Sean *sigh* OH sorry I was day dreaming and drooling over him for a minute Sean is one sexy man. Oh OK back to the review.

Nicki is looking into a murder of a not so nice woman that Nicki just so happened to know from High School. All fingers are pointing to one man the woman’s boss well in Nicki’s eyes anyway that is who the finger is pointing too. The local Politician invites Nicki to the Hoity Toity event he is putting on to prove there was nothing going on between them. Boy Nicki doesn’t hold back asking questions of the quest at this big affair and while there she sees Sean’s friend Jesse. Wow if Sean’s not careful he may have someone giving him a run for his money after those steamy kisses.

I so love Nicki and her no hold bar attitude no matter it be with men or her job she goes after what she wants no backing down. She is one smart tough cookie. I cannot wait to read more Nicki, see were her next writing adventure takes her, and how the whole Nicki/Sean/Jesse thing goes.

This book is part two in the Nicki Sosebee series. I loved it. With Got the Life, I was reluctant because I hadn't read anything but rocker stories by the author, so I was a little gun shy. But I knew going into this one that I didn't have to be afraid, so I was able to enjoy it from the very beginning. It picks up right where book one left off, and like book one, the timeline of the story follows the story Nicki is investigating. I was happy to see the same supporting characters, with a little more appearance from some of them, and another fun roll in the hay. Possibly a love interest? I don't want to give anything away. The books are definitely meant to be read in order, but you can certainly pick them up as standalones. The author includes just enough backstory to catch you up, but not so much that you feel like you're re-reading the first book. This series is like an adventure, like the subtitle should be "The Adventures of Nicki Sosebee," because that's exactly what they are. I really enjoyed this and can't wait to see what she's up to next!

Category /Genre: Romance
Received from: Jade C. Jamison in exchange for an honest review
Recommended for: 18 + due to adult situations and sexual content
Grammar/editing: A – near perfect

This is book two in the Nicki Sosebee and they do need to be read in order.

I knew I was going to love this series. Jade and I have talked about them often enough that I just knew, but I seriously love them even more than I thought I would. Nicki is a freelance crime beat reporter, surrounded by hot guys, and unapologetically engaging in hot sex. Nicki is everything I wish I were brave enough to be. She knows how and when to be a lady, but most of the time she’s just this real person with almost no filter on her mouth.

This is easy reading. Like eye-candy for the brain. I am loving this mental vacation.

Yeah, beginning book three immediately, NO PLACE TO HIDE. The triangle is fully-formed and I just know it’s about to get intense in here!

DEAD...book 2 in the Nicki Sosebee series and the second book in the 4 pack I'm reading. I LOVE THIS STUFF...it's like getting a delicious box of chocolates...taking a bite out of different ones (they are all chocolate, but slightly different and you LOVE the taste of all of them) and leaves you wanting to eat more!! And I will...
Nicki moves on to investigate the murder of a girl she knew back in high school in this one and becomes enamored with not only Sean, her "best" friend, but his friend Jesse and now things are getting interesting!!
Another short story that wraps up in the end but keeps the flame burning for a possible love triangle.

*****5***** sugar and spice and not everything nice stars =)
