All I wanted was to live my life peacefully alone within the Allura Empire. But my serene existence was put into jeopardy when five mages barged into my adventurer’s guild uninvited. Their orders came from the Lethium Empire, and they were clear; I had to free them of their curse or replace them as the shield of the empire. The problem was, breaking their curses wasn't the only thing on my mind when it came to these mages. Casper and Jasper, the psychotic twin mages, one light and one dark, that shattered my resolve every chance they got. Aimon, the caring earth mage that broke down my walls one meal at a time. Bastian, the quirky potion mage who stole my breath with each failing concoction. Silas, the insufferable dual-classed mage that annoyed the spirit out of me with every empire-damned opinion he spouted. It started out as breaking a few curses, but their curses were only a fraction of the true threat looming over us all.

I was given this book as an ARC read and I am so glad I got to read it.
I don’t really read a lot of fantasy but it was a really good book. It took me a little bit to get into it but then I just wanted to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next.
I can’t wait for the next book to come out because this one definitely stop on a cliffhanger…
So maybe an unpopular choice but I think Silas pulled me in and I am rooting for him in the next book.
I love Bastian and I want so much more for him.
The twins were a little to much but I think that’s just because I don’t love pushy men and I don’t love siblings in a why choose but I definitely didn’t hate them.
And I wasn’t sure about Aimon until closer to the end. I liked him but I felt like all he did was cook and push food on everyone… Their spicy moment finally made him more for me.
I can’t wait to see more of Bastian’s and Silas’s relationship since they are so close.
I kind of feel bad for Declan and I hope he finds his love. Maybe Ash……..🤔
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I really enjoyed this author's academy series so I hoped to love this one as well. While there were aspects that I liked, I had difficulty finishing this story.
What I Liked: *The magic. I thought the magic set up and usage was fun. If I continue the series, I hope to learn about and see more of it. *The phantom cats. I am a sucker for animals in stories.
What I Didn't Like: *The pacing of the relationships. I kept thinking that it would end up being a fated mates or destiny type situation because nothing else in my mind could explain the instant connection/attraction/love(no clue how to describe it). If that was the reason, it wasn't stated in book one but even if it had been, it sucked any fun out of the romance. I have enjoyed fated mates and even insta-love in many books but for me it has to be done in a way where there is still tension, chemistry and relationship building. In my opinion, none of those were present in this book. *The characterization of the main female, Fawn. I didn't dislike Fawn. She was compassionate, powerful and had a compelling backstory. My issue was that she was this over-powered 400 year old guild master but once the guys came into the story she was a giggling mess that got her butt handed to her in almost every fight. With her past, her fears and insecurities were understandable but she just didn't feel super strong or super old.
All in all, I think there will be many who will love this one. I truly wish I did as well.
I've said before and I'll say it again, Lyra is amazing!! I love the worlds she builds and find myself wishing I could disappear into them, with the good and the bad. This is a why choose and I love how Lyra makes sure to show each man's relationship with the FMC and how they react and act when everyone is together. This storyline reminded me of a more grown up fate hollow academy but it is entirely different plot wise. Spice was on point and I can't wait for the next book!!
Fawn is strong and a total badass. She’s been around for a few hundred years and has access to all the elemental magics.. so naturally she’d be a badass.
The FIVE guys are hexed and have requested her help in breaking the curse, thus unlocking all their powers. They all seemed to have the INSTALOVE trope, except for one who gave us the E2L vibes.
I do wish there had been more world building, and slower character connections. I don’t mind INSTALOVE, but to have it with 4/5 guys off the bat made the middle part of the book drag a bit.
The twists and turns were great, and I was guessing up until the end which I love. I’ll be interested to see where the story goes from here.
DNF 10% I didn't like much about this book except the idea of it. The writing needs work, I barely made it through the first chapter and the words are already so repetitive I'm annoyed. Everyone is described so bright and colourful it's hard for me to take any of them seriously. The instant nicknames and come ons after they barged in rudely and interrupted a meeting, and have a audience, just struck me as dumb. Honestly the beginning of a book should be intriguing, it should pull you in. You shouldn't dislike all of the mmcs right off the bat and be completely lost to what's happening. First we get some kind of info dump write up right off the bat, then all of these references to events that have happened previously. The FMC is 400 years old and I feel like this is book 3 of her story, instead of book 1.
Fawn is a mage that is immortal and has been alive for four hundred years. She is runs a guild that protects the other mages from monsters in Allura Empire. There are two other empires Lethium and Revivium that have guilds of adventures. While in her office five mages come in Silas, Jasper, Casper, Bastian, and Aimon from Lethium, and Fawn doesn’t like the Lethium empire. They are hexed and need her help because she is the strongest mage. The attraction between her and these mages gets more intense as they spend time together trying to break the hex. There are mage assassins coming after them and the monsters have been attacking more frequently. Can she break the hex ? Great characters and storyline Highly recommend Amazing book. I love Fawn strength and her ability to take care of everything. Love The dynamic between Fawn and Silas, Jasper, Casper, Bastian, and Aimon. Great supporting characters and so many twists and turns. The spice is very nice
This is the book for everyone who never managed to forget about Damien in "Fate Hollow Academy", for those who reread the series mostly for him, and for those who compare the male characters in other RH series to the unhinged masterpiece he is. Basically; people like me :-D. Lyra Winters was so kind to not only give us one possessive psycho male in this series, but two! And they are twins! Yeah, I'm swooning over here, because Casper and Jasper are absolutely perfect. They are all in from the start, and dedicated to make Fawn theirs for all eternity. And as if their personalities weren't already perfect from the start, the author also gave them some shiny jewelry in interesting places... Yeah: these men are my perfect fictional men.
If that isn't enough to convince you to read "Cordially Hexed", you should know the storyline in itself is great as well. The worldbuilding is very interesting, with different kingdoms, war brewing and mages protecting the world from monsters and other threats. When most authors write about immortal characters, it's usually the female who's young and the males who have been living for centuries. In this case, the storyline is reversed with the fmc being immortal for a long time, and the males technically being a lot younger than her. It created a very interesting dynamic, especially with the men not understanding the downsides Fawn had experienced throughout her life in constantly losing the people she loved.
Even though Jasper and Casper are my clear favorites, I think it's good they are balanced out a little by the other (potential) harem members. Bastian has some similarities to Kai (another character of "Fate Hollow"), and he touched my heartstrings in this first book. I'm excited to see his relationship with Fawn grown in the rest of this series (and the same can be said for her relationships with the other men). There is a lot to look forward to in book two, and I can't wait to read it!
This why choose was equal parts cozy and angsty. Fawn has been on her own for so long when 5 mages show up demanding she help them. They have to come together before they all lose.
I loved the different speeds of the relationships within the group.
Loved how fierce Fawn was and how she wouldn’t take any BS.
The guys were great and loved how different their personalities were.
This book has just about everything you can think of. You like magical worlds with world building themes? It's there. You like fast paced romance? Yup, you got it. You like a grumpy MMC? Or a teddy bear MMC? How about obsessed MMCs? Maybe the shy/nerdy type MMC? They are all in there. And don't forget, she doesn't have to choose and neither do you. There are so many different types of magic involved in this book, it's insane (in a good way). There's more than just elemental type magics and there are mages with multi-class magics.
I will say to check the content/trigger warning for this as there are some heavy themes mentioned throughout the book. With that being said, I do think the book is light and fun read. It's not very long and a easy simple read if you're looking to clean your palate from some of the heavier stuff out there.
Now a little about the plot (FYI I will be dropping spoilers if you don't like that, stop reading here.)
Fawn is a fierce immortal mage and she blocks herself off from getting to attached to anyone because the pain of grief knowing she will live on is a hard one. One day 5 makes come storming in her Guild to demand her help, and let's just say 2 of them go completely insane for her. Screw anything else, their mission is her and it doesn't take long for that relationship to blossom even if Fawn fights it at first. Throughout the book Fawn is pressed to break the Hexes on the five guys but monsters and other problems keep popping up, and these hexes aren't easily broken to start with.
Casper and Jasper. If you like deranged MMCs these two will fit that checkbox for you perfectly. They are all about Fawn from the moment they see her and they will detach body parts from others if they don't like the way they look at their woman. I mean Fawn's immortal and these two will still jump in front of her to keep her out of harms way, and don't let them see blood on her because I'm pretty sure these two will start a riot for Fawn. Although neither one is bothered by Fawn loving both (all 5 really) of them, it's funny to read about how they tease each other if one gets time with Fawn. While Jasper is the dark mage so it makes sense he's deranged, Casper is a light mage so it's different reading him just as insane as Jasper is.
And then their is good ole Aimon, or how I'll be referring him for the rest of the series, Teddy Bear Daddy. I mean, he even calls her bug; it's adorable. He just wants to make sure everyone's taken care of and will cook all the meals. It makes sense, he's got an earth affinity so spices and herbs and all that come naturally to him. There's a part when Fawn tells him she only really eats once a week and I can just imagine how horrified Aimon was by this statement. He won't be letting that slide anymore.
Broody Sir Silas, I mean you got to get through about 70% of the book before he loosens up. He's dual classed with both water and ink, and I am so ready to see some of the things he can do with Runes in this series. Silas is in charge of the 5 and although he grew up idolizing Fawn. when he meets her she's not what he expected. He just wants her to break their hexes and then he can go back to doing what he's supposed to do for his Empire. He constantly fights back with Fawn even though I would think after 400 years being alive, she probably does know best and clearly knows what she's doing. Like I'm so shocked she was right. I guess I shouldn't be too hard on him as he does feel bad for his crappy attitude.
Bastian, the reserved Potion mage. Oh the poor thing just can't get anything right in the beginning. What was supposed to be a healing potion ends up being a heat potion and Fawn drinks it! (Don't fret, the twins were there to tame the heat). He is able to figure it out towards the end when some of his hex is broken.
There are some characters that I haven't gotten a good read on so I want the next books so I can get to the bottom of them.
I received this book as an ARC. A new series from Lyra Winters!
This is a story of an immortal mage who is asked/ordered to break the hexes of five male mages who show up at her adventurer's guild. Along the way, they fight monsters and deal with assassination attempts.
Fawn is a great character, I loved how she was the strong one in the story, she's been around for a few hundred years and has five elemental magics at her disposal, and she's immortal, she does not stay dead. It was nice to have the FMC be the strong one, often in these stories they are still learning and weaker than the MMC, here it was the opposite for a bit at least. Not that Fawn couldn't grow and learn, she did, but it was as a person and her views on life and relationships, not in the power sense.
The five, yes there are five MMC, were all hexed to not be able to reach their magic, which is why they go to Fawn. They all pretty much fall instalove with Fawn, except Silas, who seems to be the token asshole, but he grows. I was a bit annoyed with the instalove only because it seemed to hint at a connection like mates in Winters other series but those don't seem to exist in this world.
I would have liked to see a bit more world-building, there were comments about modern things like stoves and the guys all wearing boxers, next to hearths for potions, and everyone wearing long robes. Also, one empire was described as concrete and steel buildings, but everything else sounded like something from Dungeons and Dragons. I love it when the two are melded together but it wasn't described well enough to know if it was a melding or not, a bit more description of the settings would have helped this.
Overall I enjoyed the story and the relationships between all the characters, there are fun side characters as well and the plot was intriguing in that I didn't have it all figured out beforehand. I'm looking forward to the rest of this series!
Cordially Hexed is a reverse harem supernatural romance that is already starting out strong with hot MMCs, a strong FMC, magic, spirit kittens, magic, monsters, betrayal and tyrants.
Fawn has been alive for over four hundred years and was cursed with immortality, she is unable to die. She makes a life for herself as a Master who runs adventurer guilds fighting the monsters that plague their land. Recently there as been more attacks by monsters throughout the empire, and they are trying to figure out why this is happening. All why doing this five very attractive mages show up demanding she breaks their deadly hex that was placed on them.
I love Fawn, and how strong she is, especially all that she has been though. She's lost friends and family, she also cannot die, doesn't matter how her life is taken or who, her soul is always pushed back to her body. She keeps everyone in her life at an arms length, to keep herself from getting hurt.
Jasper and Casper the twins are very obsessed with her, and they make it clear just how much they are and how they plan to stay right by her side no matter what. The romance that is building between Bastian and Aimon as well is absolutely adorable, sweet and a slow build, but Silas is one hard to crack, he's harsh and rough around the edges, but also has another sweet side I am looking forward to see more of.
All of these men have lost loved ones before finding their purpose in the position they have been offered with one of the empires, but now they are finding a different purpose and something more to look forward to with their new obsession, Fawn.
I cannot wait for the next book to come out and see how these characters grow together!
Thanks Lyra for having the chance to be apart of your ARC team!
This was such a cute book. I think this was my first based around adventure guilds and it was quite fun and a great way to branch out from my usual tropes!
Fawn is our FMC who is blessed - sorry, cursed, with immortality. After living for a few centuries, she doesn’t see the plus side of her long life, just the negatives. She is the master at her empires one and only adventure guild, and she does an excellent job.
In come Jasper, Casper, Aimon, Bastian, and Silas - the “shield” for a neighboring empire, which happens to be the empire Fawn was from and wants nothing to do with. Reasons why are explained on the book. Their emperor has tasked them with enlisting Fawn’s help at breaking hexes placed on them.
J & C are twins and they are immediately infatuated and obsessed with Fawn. They decide they want to be with her forever and set out to convince her it won’t be a bad thing.
Bastian was my favorite from the get-go. His shy demeanor just pulled at me.
Aimon is the caretaker of the group, and Fawn quickly realizes how beneficial he is to the group.
Silas is our grumpy one. But for good reason. Not being able to use his magic gives him a feeling of loss of control that he struggles to deal with.
The 6 of them get to know each other and start to fall for each other throughout the book, all while Fawn works to break their hexes, avoid assassination attempts, monster attacks, and running her guild. It’s an adventure. I mean, obviously. They’re a bunch of adventurer mages!
This does end on a slight cliffhanger, but I’m sure the story will continue right back up in the next book!
Cordially Hexed by Lyra Winters was everything I was hoping it would be and then some! I love fantasy and Lyra definitely delivered with the world she built! Fawn our FMC is a strong, confident woman who has been through a lot. She has been around for a few hundred years and her life has not been simple, she has seen a lot and experienced some. Also known some amazing people but living for so long isn’t what it is cracked out to be. The main men of this book crash into her world, no like they literally crash into her office. Which does not make Fawn happy whatsoever. Can’t really blame her because I would be pissed also if people hulk smashed into my office. There are five men and they are made up of the broody, Silas. Two golden retrievers; Bastian and Aimon. Of course this would not be complete with a psycho. But! We do not get one psycho, we get twin psychos. Personally, this is my favorite. This book has instant love and lust, plenty headbutting thanks to our resident brooder. There are multiple points of views and with how Lyra writes you can easily tell who is who, thanks to her giving them all distinct personalities. There is no mm or ff in this story. There is an age gap and I love that it is the female who is older. This story does end on a cliffhanger but I felt like it was not a horrible one but I definitely need the next book in the series soon. I think there is going to be more action in multiple ways. I highly recommend this book and the series they will follow!
I might return to this series on a later date, it wasn't bad per say just kind of fell flat for me? It felt a little like an AI generated book, I didn't really connect with any of the characters and while there was a lot of interesting concepts it felt disconnected.
Possible spoilers, but I didn't make it too far into the book.
There are 5 MMC, the twins are carbon copies of each other and two other men are completely interchangeable, exactly alike. Again, I didn't make it far so maybe they become more of their own characters later on but it didn't seem like it was heading that way.
How they spend their days is a little odd too? It feels very stiff. They wake up, eat, finish a task/activity that seems like it should only take a couple hours, eat, then go to bed just to do the same thing over and over again. They seem like they are only awake for maybe 5 hours max before going back to sleep. Also, I don't understand why they go to her tiny cottage when it seems like her Guild (where they meet) has much more room along with books/artifacts/scrolls/ect that could possibly be helpful. They have these "private" conversations that supposedly the FMC doesn't hear at all, even though her bedroom doesn't have a door and as I said, the cottage is tiny. How is she not hearing every word they are saying?
I'm just not sure this series is for me, though like I said the concept does sound very interesting.
It’s well written, and the men are sugary sweet. However, I’m not a fan of fast-burn, I’m really not, but I stuck it out because one of the men wasn’t absolutely smitten with the fmc from the start, and he was sort of providing the slow burn I needed to keep me interested in the story.
Not only that, I’m a huge fan of immortal fmc’s and this story really tugs at your heartstrings because you can understand the turmoil the fmc goes through, loathing her immortality curse, and how she’s had to watch everyone she loves die of old age and other things. I really liked that melancholic aspect of the story, but I couldn’t do the romance. It was insta love with most of the men, especially the twins and while they were endearing in some ways, they were also annoying. It might just be a me thing but the twins were almost too assertive, there was no mate bond to speak of and no reason for them to be absolutely IN LOVE with the fmc upon meeting her. There is many things to like about the fmc and it could have been a great build up, of the men falling slowly in love with her, but I mean a lot of people like fastburn and if you do this will probably be an amazing story for you.
I would actually recommend this story to those who don’t mind fast pace romance. I just can’t do the pet names and instalove. Insta lust and slow burn romance is more my jam. But I will admit this story has an interesting plot.
ARC Review of Cordially Hexed by Lyra Winters * * * * * A building reverse harem supernatural romance that has gained my attention and already providing all the drama in a worl of cruel tyrants, monsters, elemental kittens and betrayals!
Fawn has been alive for over four hundred years...not exactly something she wants. After being cursed with immortality, unable to die or find peace at the end of life, she makes a way for herself fighting the monsters that plague their land. There as been many unexplained killings lately, and trying to figure out why is already tiring enough. Now she has to deal with five attractive mages with a deadly hex on them. They don't know who placed it on them, but they know that don't have much time left and by royal decree she is their only hope.
Love Fawn, the strength and pain she holds really builds her character. She has lost so much. Her family, her freedom, her choices, and even her life. No matter if she dies unexpectedly or at her own hands, she is stuck on the mortal plains. After losing so many loves of her life, she doesn't want to go through with it again. However, twins Jasper and Casper are very much inclind to remind her how obsessed they are with her and how they most definitely plan to stay by her side. The building romance between Bastian and Aimon as well is proving to be an excitment, and Silas is one tough nut to crack. All these men have lost their loved ones before finding a purpose in their position, and now they are finding something more to look forward to with Fawn. I am interested with some of the connections I am finding and seeing if there is a further conspiracy. Cannot wait to see what happens next!
This is the first book in the series, it doesn't end on a cliffhanger as such, but the story continues in book 2. I love that the author has given us a map of the world, it made it so much easier to place where everything was.
Fawn is the only immortal mage, she is also guild Master helping to kill the monsters that threaten other mages. She is sent an order that she's not happy about but it does bring her into contact with 5 male mages. It also brings up her tragic past.
This is a sweet storyline, its set in a paranormal world but the world-building is easy to follow, the guys are all different, you have obsessed, sweet and reluctant - something for everyone.
We follow Fawn as she tries to complete the order given whilst also dealing with an increased guild workload and some potential traitors. She shows everyone why she has been a guild Master for so long. Fawn takes the lead with the guys, she is the most powerful and she doesn't take any disrespect from anyone. I love how she puts different characters in their place. She's lonely being the only immortal, having watched many people die, and she has been a little closed off, but the guys turning up show her that maybe she needs to open up a bit more.
Lyra Winters does it again! The first book in a new series and I am already obsessed!
Fawn, the FMC of this series is such a great character! I loved that she was the one saving the guys and not the other way around like it usually is. She is an immortal being that saves the world daily and is just trying to help people. She is not looking for any drama or trouble, just doing her own thing. She is flawed and is not pretending that she is perfect. She is also incredibly strong in all the ways that matter.
The MMCs of this RH series are all very well written and very unique as characters. Sometimes in a RH, the guys blend together as one person but Lyra has an amazing talent of distinguishing all characters and creating very different personalities. I honestly love all her guys, even though some of them made mistakes and haven't treated Fawn the best all the time.
The first book in the series is just a perfect blend of world-building, spice, plot, character development and, as Lyra does, the pacing of the story. I am excited to read more about this world in the next series and can't wait to see what happens next with this beautiful love story.
I have received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The FMC, Fawn, is strong which is a really admirable thing. She’s also a real badass who has the life experience, skill, and general attitude to take down anything and everything that enters her path with little to no effort.
Fortunately, Winters’ stories always have a female character who is always willing to stand her ground. This is a trait that Fawn definitely needs - especially when dealing with one of the MMC’s, Silas, who is very stubborn and standoffish.
Speaking of the 5 MMC’s, we have:
Aimon - a complete sweetheart! Jasper & Casper - psychotic but ADORABLE (to Fawn of course) twins that are equal parts possessive & loveable Bastian - all-round great guy Silas - as mentioned above, standoffish & super rude
The five mages come to Fawn to get their magic back and seem to instantly fall in love, all but Silas (don’t worry, he starts to come around!) They’ve been hexed to not be able to use their magic and Fawn is believed to be the key to doing so.
Sort of reminds me of Fate Hollow but with a bit of a twist. (And more psychotic mages 😍) We also get a huge chunk of Fawn’s backstory in this first instalment which is great, but I can’t wait to learn more and get some more world building.
I really enjoyed this book! Fawn is a great character. I really felt her struggles and all the pain she’s gone through being immortal. She learned to close herself off from people so it wouldn’t hurt when they inevitably died. But then 5 mages burst into her office-and her life- and all bets are off. Casper and Jasper were all in right away, not a second of hesitation or doubt and I love that. The twins were my favorite. I love how they complement each other, Jas dark and Cas light. They’re both a little crazy, but in the best way. Aimon and Bastian were interested but more reserved. They took their time, but Aimon made his move before too long. Silas was a jerk, but he came around. And he actually admitted when he was wrong and apologized. I very much appreciate that. I can’t wait to see his and Bastian’s relationships move forward with Fawn. There is a lot of action, mystery, drama, and intrigue in this. It starts with a bang and really never slows down. So much happens, but there are still slot of questions. I can’t wait for book 2 to learn more and see the relationships progress.
A whychoose paranormal fantasy with a wonderful strong FMC and 5 hot mages who fall for her.
Fawn- An amazing mage with 5 classifications but a horrible gift/curse Jasper - Dark mage twin that vows to worship his goddess on his knees in front of her. Casper - Light mage twin who is determined to win over his sunshine. Aimon - Earth mage who keeps the shield going with his amazing food and calming personality Bastian - Potion mage is desperate to be able to make potions again in order to be useful Silas - Water and Ink mage who is the grump of our storyline but he has a soft side that he rarely shows.
A wonderful first book in this series with phenomenal characters and a delicious plot. Through the story we learn why Fawn hates the Lethium empire (really all of them) and why the men had all agreed to be used as the shield for the same empire that cursed her. While this book really dives into the lives of each of our main characters and essentially setting up for the next book - it was wonderfully done and I'm super excited to see what's in store for us next.
Also there are adorable cute phantom elemental cats!!!
I am so in love with these characters I have no clue where these amazing story ideas come from but Lyra keep them coming. Fawn is a complete baddie with a heart of gold. I instantly fell in love with her kind of like the twins LOL. Fawn is brilliant, beautiful and strong especially for everything that she has been through seeing as how she can’t die and has been alive for over 400 years she doesn’t allow herself to get close to anyone for any length of time then enters these five men who she is instantly drawn to. The twins Jasper and Casper are to die for. Aimon and Bastian are pure sweethearts and then there is Silas the broody a-hole who I happen to love to death because I know when this man falls it is going to be so hard. I love how each guy has a special relationship with Fawn that we all get to see grow. They are all unique and they all bring something special to the table for her. Everyone of these men have a story which has shaped who they currently are but meeting Fawn has defiantly brough a light to their lives that wasn’t there before and I cannot wait to see where it all goes.
It was a good story and I cried and laughed a couple times. But I still think it was almost too much of insta love from the twins, it was s bit over the top. I still don't like Silas, I actually hated him at one point. He basically slut shamed the FMC multiple times, force her to do her work, push her till her death, doesn't trust her even though she has more to lose, thinks she needs to respect the empire when he doesn't respect her, thinks immortality is a gift (how stupid can he be). I read in the beginning that all characters are 20-30 and FMC is old , but he acts more like a teenager. Don't really care for him at all , he reminds me of wrens first mate in fate hollow academy. Silas said that he actually looked up to her, but then was disappointed to meet her? Sounds kind of sexist. And the fact that he said he didn't start to fall for her until he learned about her past, yet next scene he treats her like crap. I'm sorry but I'm not satisfied, ik he apologized multiple times and stopped trying to get her killed and being an asshole. But nope he still needs to grovel, like the whole next book for me to be satisfied because I'm petty.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Pros: -Fawn is a badass. She can take down monsters and traitors with one hand tied behind her back if she wanted. -We get a good chunk of Fawns back story in the first book instead of learning about it throughout the series. -the GUYS. I’m obsessed with Jas & Cas, adore the shit out of Bastian, want to snuggle up with Aimon andddd want to nut punch Silas. I can’t wait for his character growth in book two! -Fawns phantom cats 🥹 so freaking adorable. -Fast burn, insta-obsession, (good)possessive MMCs.
Cons: -Silas, for now. 😂 didn’t not like him one biiiiiit. Curious to know how I’ll like him at the end of the series though. -The world building could use a bit more polishing since this is suppose to have a fantasy setting. -Fawn takes A LOT of naps. Like, a lot. Granted, she uses a ton of power during her fights but it seemed like we got a quick fight scene, reminder about the hexes, maybe some spice and then bam she was back to snoozin’.
Lyra has done it again with this amazing book in creating a new world with Fawn and the five guys that come waltzing into her life. Fern is cursed with immortality and she’s incredibly power, having lived so long, she’s reluctant to get close to anyone but she can’t help but let these men in. The twins, Jasper and Casper are amazing 🔥🔥🔥🔥. I definitely need them in my life. They are utterly devoted to Fern and ruthless. Then you have Aimon, the giant teddy bear who is sweet as can be and makes the best comfort food to warm your heart and soul. Sweet Bastian, the shy potions mage whose potions unfortunately always backfire with the curse the men are under. But thankfully can also lead to some spice. And lastly we have Silas, the most loyal and dedicated to his emperor so he’s to blinded to see things other than his own way when he first meets fern. But slowly they’ll get to see more of who each other really are. This story has plenty of action and some spice. Great start to a new world! I can’t wait for the next one.
Fawn has been living her life pretty peacefully until 5 mages show up. She has been ordered by the Emperor of Lethium to break the hex that these five have been cursed with. Breaking their curses wasn’t as easy as it should have been and there’s still the question of who cursed them. Of course in the midst of trying to break their curses there’s other bad things happening all around which has Fawn more than busy. Seems like there is a lot more going on than just these curses. I was addicted to this story from the very beginning. It is definitely a huge page turner. Each main character has their own distinct personality and I loved each and every one of them. Fawn’s relationship with her mages are just so sweet and heartfelt that you can’t help but feel their bonds and of course there’s some spice thrown in there too. I just loved every bit of this story and I can’t wait to read more of their adventures in book 2!
I loved this book so much. Fawn is life goals. She is immortal and a bad mamma-jamma. But the path that lead her to her current superhero status is sad. Fawns past was hard to read, she never asked for anything, so I completely understand her hesitancy to help the 5 newcomers demanding help on behalf of the Empire. However, the newcomers have no hesitation (Except Silas, my grumpy mage) on wanting Fawn. The twins Casper and Jasper are hilariously possessive of Fawn, love at first sight almost. Bastian and Aimon aren’t far behind on the love train. Silas has 1 goal, and that is to fix his hex and get back to the kingdom that saved him. But nothing is ever easy, and silas’ piss poor attitude doesn’t help. I will say I have a suspicion of who the big bad is…. But then again all of this authors books leave me speechless so I could be wrong. This is a favorite of mine, I love Fawn and her little cats. Easily a 5/5 for me.
