Now an Amazon bestselling author, Sylvia Price is an author of Amish and contemporary romance and women’s fiction. She especially loves writing uplifting stories about second chances!

Sylvia was inspired to write about the Amish as a result of the enduring legacy of Mennonite missionaries in her life. While living with them for three weeks, they got her a library card and encouraged her to start reading to cope with the loss of television and radio, giving Sylvia a new-found appreciation for books.

Although raised in the cosmopolitan city of Montréal, Sylvia spent her adolescent and young adult years in Nova Scotia, and the beautiful countryside landscapes and ocean views serve as the backdrop to her contemporary novels.

After meeting and falling in love with an American while living abroad, Sylvia now resides in the US. She spends her days writing, hoping to inspire the next generation to read more stories. When she’s not writing, Sylvia stays busy making sure her three young children are alive and well-fed.

I enjoyed this new book by Ms. Price. Beth is trying to get a better life after losing her husband. She goes “back home” for a visit and finds what she feels God is leading her to do. I like the frequent references to her faith and letting the Lord lead her into happiness and joy. There are stumbling blocks along the way, as there are in everyone’s life, but she lets her faith guide her. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series and learn where her life ends up.

Ok, so we know that Beth wants this house really badly but Kathy is not sure she is up to the job of refurbishing it. Also, Beth has chickened out every time she thinks about going to Sean to find out if he will really sell it to her. She returns to her home and informs her boss that she will be leaving her position and meets with the lawyer about selling her husbands business. Then she heads home to take the things she want and sell the rest of the items along with the house. Much to her chagrin, her son shows up and attacks her verbally telling her she can't sell the business, the home or do anything but listen to him and stop this crazy notion of going back to her hometown. Beth finally realizes that she has to take control as the mom and lets her son know if he wants the business he can buy it. If her wants the house he can buy it but that she is the mother and it all came to her after his fathers death and she is going to live her life now as she sees fit. Had to really cheer for Beth during this part, no matter how old your children are you are the one in control of your life and should never give that power away.
Finally Beth decides to just go see Sean and confront him on if he is willing to sell or not. She walks to his house and actually looks more like a stalker talking to herself and standing at the bottom of the driveway. As in the past Sean saves her by coming out of the house to see if she wants to come in and talk. The start to talk about the past but Sean has moved on and suggests that Beth does the same. It is then that they get Kathy and go look at the house. Beth was wrong, it needs a lot more work than she originally thought but she still wants it. Kathy and Sean as well as her daughter say that they will help her and off the team goes.

Love Sylvia's Series books as they are easy to read and you usually finish one in the evening and then can move on to the next book the next day. Great beach read for sure.

Set in picturesque Nova Scotia, Finding Hope is the first book in the Rainbow Haven Beach series and I'm looking forward to reading more. Introduced to the characters in the prequel, I looked forward to reading more of how Beth's life changes once she returns to the place she couldn't get away from fast enough after the death of her husband.

There are vivid descriptions of the area and the home she sets her sights on to help her come home. I liked her relationship with her best friend, Kathy and her daughter, Lillie although her son's attitude was hard to swallow. Reconnecting with a first love has its own difficulties especially since Sean has put the past behind him and Beth hasn't quite yet.

The story has a good flow and a lot of references to God and her faith as Beth tries to put her new life in perspective and get the most out of it. I liked that there wasn't a cliffhanger this time even if I know the story will continue in subsequent books.

Ms. Price is an author whose books I enjoy whether a contemporary romance or an Amish one. I look forward to reading more of her books and not just those in this series.

Both Beth and daughter, Lillie have fallen in love with Rainbow Haven and, while Lillie’s stay is potentially temporary, Beth has decided to cut ties with Ontario and return to her childhood town permanently. Finding a new home awakens further possibilities. However, doubts about fulfilling her dream and feelings of guilt towards Sean offer their own challenges.
Sylvia Price has opened a whole new insight into her writing talents as I’ve only previously read her Amish novels. This beautifully written book holds the reader’s attention from start to finish with the primary story-line as well as added detail about other residents of this gorgeous little town.

She has real dreams of turning it into a beachfront b n b , then she discovers who the present owner is and finds it to be Sean Pennington her first love…. Helped and coaxed by friends and family she makes a go at it hiring Sean himself to help with the carpentry and as the pair work together they grow close , can this be Sean’s second chance with his first love and can Beth have faith it will turn out the way it should in the end . A very lovely well penned story

“Finding Hope” Rainbow Haven Beach, book 1 by Sylvia Price
Step 2 …
This is book 2 of 7 in the Rainbow Haven Beach series. It is a good book. But, you probably should know that I prefer series where each book in the series is a stand-a-lone story. This book does not really end as a cliff-hanger, but it left me knowing there is more to this story but just not in this book. And for me, the rest of this series has not been released, yet. (and, patience is not one of my virtues). Happy Reading ! !
Note: This review expresses my honest opinion.

I felt for Beth when her husband passed away. Returning home won't be easy but it's what she feels she has to do. Nova Scotia. The abandoned house was something I was excited about, and also the anticipation of how she was going to move on.

Will she be able to move on as she hopes? Sean Pennington is someone who caused pain in her past. But will they be able to restore the house and past feelings?

I was excited to start this new series and hooked by the mix of struggles, pain, faith and moving on. The setting was unique.

Beth Campbell returns to her hometown in Nova Scotia after the death of her husband. She finds a beautiful old abandoned house which she lived at first sight which was ideal to run a bed and breakfast inn. But unfortunately it belonged to Sean Pennington who she didn’t have a good relationship within the past. But working together they are able to forgive each other and have a good relationship once again. A warm-hearted read . I enjoyed this book which I received via booksprouts and leave a honest review. I recommend this book to other readers.

This book drew me in very quickly. It was like these characters are real people that I can identify with. Reading about what they are doing and watching the dynamics of their relationships evolve is fascinating. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. Her books are always encouraging with uplifting thoughts sprinkled throughout the story.

I don’t like spoilers, but I encourage you to get the book and read it. I encourage you to the prequel and read it first as it explains who the people are and the background of their lives.

Finding Hope is a stand-alone book about loss, love, healing and second chances.

When Beth returns to her hometown in Nova Scotia following the death of her husband the last person she expects to see is her first love Sean. He owns the house she wants to run as a business. Working together gives them both a new perspective.

This is a good read with genuine, likeable characters. The setting is absolutely stunning and the author makes the place come alive. I enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it.

Can you really make major changes in your life after your spouse dies?
After Beth's husband dies, she is determined to make a new life. She moves back to her childhood home and takes on a major project. She has her daughter with her but her son and his family are not with her. He thinks she is losing her mind and wants her back 'where she belongs'.
See what decisions she makes and see just how that affects her life.

Nice one.

I really enjoyed this book. Beth has recently lost her husband and moved back to her child hood area in Nova Scotia. In this book, she reconnects with an old high school boyfriend. Will they find love again? Beth's life has taken a turn for the best as she rediscovers what really matters in her life. It's not all about the big job and pay check. Read this book to find out more of where her journey is leading her.

Finding Hope (Rainbow Haven Book 1) by Sylvia Price is a great short story of how easy it can be to get caught up in chasing our hopes and dreams that can cost family relationships. How often have young couples who loved each other walked away to pursue a career and later end up alone with a life full of regrets. In this story Beth wakes up in time to realize it is not too late to find hope. I recommend reading this book and ask God to guide you on a path full of hope for the future.

Beth decided to stay in Rainbow Haven despite big opposition from her son. After some time she found purpose for her life there- she wanted to open Bed & Breakfast in the house which belonged to her old friend Sean. Would she be able to restore the house or would it take to much work. You can find the answer in this book. It is good and inspirational read.

This is my voluntary review of a copy I received from Booksprout.

I get the title. Hopeful is how I felt when I finished the story.
There was no romance in the story, but there was some character grown for Beth.

We get a couple of surprises, too, making for an enjoyable story.

Hard to put down.

Beth's life is so similar to mine. I married someone my Mom thought I should, rather then someone I really wanted to. That marriage turned into a disaster.

Will Beth and Lillie Make Wise Choices?

by Barbara Kelley

Finding Hope is Book 1 of the Rainbow Haven series, written by Sylvia Price. Be sure to read the prequel before reading book 1, so that you will know why Beth returned to her childhood home of Rainbow Haven. This has, so far, been a really good series. Beth is a woman who returns to her childhood home in Nova Scotia, after her husband dies from Cancer a couple of years ago. Her daughter, Lillie, a young college student, goes with her. Each woman is escaping from a boring life, as well as from manipulative relationships. Beth's son is a controlling and manipulative individual who thinks his mother can't take care of herself and needs him to watch over her. He thinks she's lost her mind in moving away from Prince Edward Island and moving back to Nova Scotia. He thinks life is all about working at a job and making lots of money. However, Beth enjoys the peace she has found in her old hometown, and even thinks about buying a big house that she can turn into a Bed & Breakfast right on the beach. Too bad that the home she's looking at is owned by a high school love interest named Sean Pennington. Will she get over her fear and dread of past events and buy the house and open a Bed and Breakfast, proving to herself and her son that she is fully capable of living her own life? Lillie, Beth's daughter, is enjoying the peace and tranquility that Rainbow Haven has to offer. She left college and a manipulative boyfriend who is as controlling, and probably verbally and physically abusive, to take this journey with her mother. She receives many phone calls from her boyfriend, just like Beth receives from her son. The first few calls they each answer are demands for the two women to return home. Afterwards, the women just don't answer the phone when these men are the ones calling. What worried me was that these men would show up in Rainbow Haven and cause trouble. Will this happen? And if so, how will Beth and Lillie deal with it? I gave this book 5 stars.

I received a copy to read via booksprout and this is my voluntary and honest review.
