Now an Amazon bestselling author, Sylvia Price is an author of Amish and contemporary romance and women’s fiction. She especially loves writing uplifting stories about second chances!
Sylvia was inspired to write about the Amish as a result of the enduring legacy of Mennonite missionaries in her life. While living with them for three weeks, they got her a library card and encouraged her to start reading to cope with the loss of television and radio, giving Sylvia a new-found appreciation for books.
Although raised in the cosmopolitan city of Montréal, Sylvia spent her adolescent and young adult years in Nova Scotia, and the beautiful countryside landscapes and ocean views serve as the backdrop to her contemporary novels.
After meeting and falling in love with an American while living abroad, Sylvia now resides in the US. She spends her days writing, hoping to inspire the next generation to read more stories. When she’s not writing, Sylvia stays busy making sure her three young children are alive and well-fed.

Beth is still grieving nine months after her husband died. She decides to return to Rainbow Haven and her childhood friend, Kathy. It's the prequel to a new series and the start of a new beginning for Beth. It's well written, moves quickly and smoothly and has me looking forward to the next book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
I can tell I am going to love this series! For such a quick read, I became invested in the characters and want to see how this story develops. It's free to download, so if you like clean, Christian romance, go download it!
When I started reading I wasn’t sure if I would be able to read the entire book. It was afraid it would be too sad and heavy. But as I continued reading it drew me in more and more. It reminded me of important life values and by the end I was so glad I read the book. I highly recommend it.
This short story is a soulful journey about love, loss and new beginnings. I felt as though I was watching a Hallmark movie. It's extremely well-written, and the dialogue is so raw and so real. And now I'm hooked and look forward to reading the next book in the series.
Finding Healing is the Prequel to the new Rainbow Haven Beach series, written by Sylvia Price. This is a beautiful story of Faith, Love, and Grieving Loss. Beth Campbell is a 58 year old woman who was married to the love of her life for 35 years, and both she and her husband were wealthy beyond their dreams. They have 2 adult children, a boy, in his mid 20s,who is married with a child of his own, and a girl, Lillie, about 19 or 20 years old, who is in a Canadian University, and has a boyfriend named Lukas, who appears to be selfish and manipulative. Everything is perfect for Beth, until her husband, Ken, does from Cancer. Now, 9 months later, Beth is alone, and all of her money cannot bring her any happiness. Her daughter, Lillie, is home with her during Spring Break. When Beth prays for an answer about how to continue forward with her own life, she received a letter from her best friend in Rainbow Haven, Nova Scotia, requesting her help with a renovation project. Lillie urges her to go, and Lillie will go with her. So they leave Ottawa and head for Beth's old hometown, which is a coastal town, and Beth's best friend, Kathy. While there, Beth runs into her old flame, Sean Pennington. Will something rekindle from their past? Also, we find out just what kind of man Lillie is dating through a phone call. Will Lillie stay with this guy? Or will she find somebody better? Will Beth and Lillie return to their current lives? Or will they choose to remain in Rainbow Haven? I will impatiently await the arrival of Book 1 in the series. I gave this book 5 stars and recommend it to anyone who needs healing and hope in their lives.

After reading the Prequel and figuring out what Beth's story was all about we travel with her and her daughter to visit her friend Kathy everything seems to change. She is calmer, more focused and happier than she has been in a long time. The only problem she has is her son who see's her as a decrepit old woman who would be better in a nursing home so that she is out of the way and causing no problems but close by enough for him to control her. Beth realizes that she needs to find something to do to start over so on one of her exploring journeys around the peninsula she discovers an old abandoned Victorian house that if fixed up would make the most awesome B&B. Problem one, she has to quit her job and sell her husbands company and move permanently to the town. Two the owner of the house is Sean Pennington which we have found out she has a past with. Something went wrong a long time ago when they were a couple and she can't move on. She left and never returned and neither of them has found the happiness they once had. Will Sean sell her the house, will she be able to fix it up and make something of her new life, and will her son understand what she wants out of life and leave her alone. Thank goodness she has Kathy and her daughter with her to smooth out the edges.
This is the first book of a series, and I am looking forward to reading more of the storyline. Beth is trying to adjust to life with the changes that occur because her husband died and she is unsettled. Her daughter Lillie comes over school break to spend some time with her mom and to get away from her demanding, controlling fiancé. She had hoped to talk with her mom but decided not to because of her mother’s situation. After receiving a letter from Beth’s childhood friend, Kathy, they went to help her with a project. Long story shortened… Beth decided to stay there instead of going back home to the city.
Questions which will most likely be dealt with in future books: Who is the man Beth reacted to from her past when she saw him again? What will Lillie decide to do regarding her schooling, job, and fiancé? And probably more. Looking forward to seeing where this story goes.
I received an ARC copy and am leaving a review as a thank you.
The story of Beth who is so lost after losing her husband of many years, she doesn't know how she can go on without him. Her daughter Lillie comes to visit her during her spring break from university. Beth's childhood friend from Nova Scotia gives her a call and asks for her help to get her house painted and ready to sell on the market. Beth and Lillie head there to help out Kathy and Beth is feeling so relaxed in such a long time just being home again. They have a great time thinking about when they were younger and the time just flies by.
When it is time to leave, Beth changes her mind about going back to Ottawa and stays with her friend Kathy in Nova Scotia. Beth needs a new beginning to her life and she feels that she is in the right place. Her daughter helps wth the move and Beth is finally at peace.
Finding Healing is a prequel with promise but it fell short at only eighty-four pages and a cliffhanger to boot. Especially since I didn't realize I was at the end of the story until my Kindle wouldn't turn another page.
This is Beth's story. A widow who is having difficulty living her life with meaning after her husband died. There are hints of things but we don't yet learn of them. Her daughter travels with her back to the town where Beth grew up. It seems to be doing them both some good but... That's unfortunately all we've learned.
I do want to continue the story and see where life leads them. The cover is attractive and the title seems to be spot on.

This is the prequel to the Rainbow Haven Beach , which gives us the back story to how they ended up there. It's a warm fuzzy story of a mother's love for her family and the struggle to regain herself after a family death. It's also the story of a daughter's love as she come to see her mother as a person in her own right and as the become friends as well as family.
You can't go wrong if you want a quick read to left your spirits.

What an incredible read and great introduction to the Rainbow Haven Beach series by one of my favorite authors, Sylvia Price. I felt an instant connection to Beth and am excited to share her new journey as she returns home after the passing of her husband. If you enjoy inspiring heartwarming series, don't miss this one.
Since this book start off not long after Beth's husband has passed, it starts off sad - but with Beth solid in her faith. By the end of the book, I was once again reminded of how God loves us and always has a wonderful plan for us!.

I enjoyed reading Beth story. As a widow myself, I can identify with the paralyzing fee!ings of hopelessness as we face life without a significant loved one. Beth returns to her hometown to help a dear friend with a project, and her eyes and mind are opened to the possibility of relocation and a new beginnings. Beth finds hope and future!
4.5 stars for this adorable prequel to a series I can see myself getting hooked. I already love the 3 women and boo hiss to the controlling boyfriend. I see fun times, romance, drama and Lillie and Beth finding that they have both come home. I can't wait to see what happens in book 1. Thanks to Sylvia Price for sharing this book with me. Much appreciated.
I enjoyed this novella. At first I thought it might be depressing but then I could see the promise it held. I really want to read the follow up as I want to see Lillie make the right choice about her boyfriend Lucas. Sure there will be a good book coming out of this.

I wish this prequel was book length, rather than a short story. When I was done reading, I was left with a bunch of questions. I know that was probably the point, so that I would be tempted to seek out another story by this author and keep going, and that's why I gave it four stars because I can see the potential in the series.
