I inhaled this book! Perfect for lovers of Fantasy Romance with darkness, banter, and amazing detail.
The MC makes a pact and through this she learns so much about herself and the world she is in. Sandriel and Lucifer gave me life! I enjoyed their interactions and all the tension. And can we talk about the fallen angels? It’s been a while since I read a book with angels that completely pulled me in. This enemies to lovers had great characters, there was lots of character development. The glimpse of the past we get from Sandriel’s life helped me put together a lot about her character.
The world building was easy to put together! It became so colorful in my mind! I love the descriptions given by the author. We have a world with all types of creatures, vampires, witches, gods, and so much more! There were different plot lines to this story but it all weaves perfectly as the author unravels the story. I cannot wait for the next book!
Huge thanks to the author for sending me a copy. All opinions are my own.
Another bad boy with a big wing span you say??..GIVE IT TO ME! I've been given the opportunity to read some amazing fantasy ARCs this year and Lucifers Fall is now on my favourites list, second to vampires, fallen angels are my *thang*, the premise sounded promising, I love an enemies to lovers, and I couldn't wait to dive into this, this was an amazing dark fantasy, the writing was superb and the character development was top notch (omg I sound like an old person, do people say top notch anymore?? Did they ever!?)especially Sandriel who is our complex protagonist, I loved the setting of Hell and thought the unique twist on Lucifers story was refreshing, the world building was rich and vivid, I couldn't put this down, this was an exceptionally well written first installment to a series I most definitely want to continue reading and I can't wait to see how it develops, if you love dark fantasy and morally grey handsome fallen angels and a bad ass female who have sizzling chemistry I highly recommend! Thankyou so much to the lovely @verusharobbins_author for sending me a copy!
I flew through this book…and I think a lot of that was because of the TENSION. I looove some good tension and chemistry and this book absolutely delivered. It’s basically the ultimate forbidden romance…an angel who makes with the devil. He promises to release a few captive angels as long as she agrees to spend a few days with him in Hell. And I love a good bargain trope, especially when it results in some forced proximity 😍 the character development in this book was fantastic and I loved the use of flashbacks that allowed us and also Sandriel to discover more of her story.
Def looking forward to the sequel!
Thanks to the author for gifting me a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
If you're looking for a book that doesn't romanticize Lucifer but paints him as the brutal Fallen angel he is, this is the book for you. With bribes of Sandriel's memories, you can start to piece back together their shared history and you can start to guess why he fell from Heaven. As there are other books in this series, you don't get an answer as to why, but some events start to unfold and it leaves you wanting to know more. The writing is very descriptive, some scenes are not for the faint of heart, but it really puts you in Hell's atmosphere. This first book also sets the tone for an uprising. Is Lulu's throne in danger ? * gasp *
I had such a fun time reading this book. This is my first angel/fallen angel novel and I need to keep reading about them because I thought the whole spin on this was so interesting and well done! We are following an angel, Sandriel, as she makes a deal with the devil (literally) in hopes of getting a few angels released from the grips of Hell. Lucifer agrees, as long as she agrees to spend a few days with him in Hell. This first novel follows Sandriel as she begins to learn about her past-life self & uncovers that she has a very strong link to Lucifer from that past life. Not only is she trying to piece back together what exactly happened in that past life, but also what exactly happened to Lucifer and why he is the way he is now - or is he really as awful as everyone thinks??
The TENSION between Lucifer and Sandriel was sooo palpable, I loved every interaction they had because their banter was just top tier and I was just waiting for them to fire their past life romance back up. I also loved how we were getting flashbacks of Sandriel in her past life in pieces and learning/making sense of it all right alongside her.
There is so much brewing in this first novel, there are many different plot/conflict points being touched on that I just can't wait to see the chaos that will seemingly erupt as the series moves on. I enjoyed every second of this novel but it did just what a good first book in a series should do - leave you wanting for MORE!!
It was so interesting seeing the different dynamics between the angels, the fallen angels, even different gods/goddesses from other religions and how they interact with each other/intertwine together. We see a lot of freaky demons (soo fun because they are all so different), witches, hellhounds, get introduced to all the different "levels" of the afterlife, & the focus on reincarnation is also so interesting. There are so many different aspects to this story and I loved every second of it.
Overall, this story was beautifully written. Verusha has a way with her writing that is effortlessly elegant. I had just finished reading a novel by Carissa Broadbent prior to reading this and I feel like their writing styles are comparable! I can't wait to read the rest of this series to see where it goes and hopefully get much more of Lucifer and Sandriel - I love their slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers (hopefully again in this current incarnation) chemistry!
LUCIFER’S FALL was such a compelling read! It features all of the elements that fans of the most famous fallen angel will enjoy: a dark, dangerous and seductive “villain”, a struggle between Dark and Light, angels vs demons, but admittedly this Lucifer is probably one of my favorites I’ve encountered across all media. The primary reason? The way the author layered his character and added the most angsty, romantic past storyline to the mix! If you love fated mates and slow burn, this is the book for you.
The author has a lot of interesting world building in her hands. While it seems that there is a stark distinction between darkness and light, the more I read, the more I convinced myself that things are more complicated than they appear. Nowhere is this more evident than with the main characters, Sandriel and Lucifer. Sandriel starts off as little more than the angels’ pawn against Lucifer, unaware of her past link to the fallen angel—of which the angels instead are very much aware—and of the true potential of her abilities. At the end of the book, she’s much stronger and confident, although her feelings for Lucifer only grow more complicated as past memories resurface, and her current attraction to him grows more insistent. Lucifer, on the other hand, was an absolute dream. His dark, seductive aura jumps off the page from the first moment he is introduced to the reader, but I immediately sensed there was more to him, and more to his relationship with Sandriel.
The flashes of the past not only helped to solidify Sandriel and Lucifer’s relationship, but I think they also start to paint a much more complex picture on the reasons that caused Lucifer’s Fall, and why Sandriel has the powers she has in the present. Also, I don’t trust the angels, as you’ve probably realized.
I’m very curious to dive into the sequel (which is already out). I have many theories that I need to be proven right, and I can’t wait to see the tension between Sandriel and Lucifer explode! The slow burn is really burning, and the payoff is going to be so good!
Thank you to the author for gifting me an ebook copy. Opinions are my own.
"Humanity will always have a choice, in everything they do, to choose light or dark. That choice is made in every moment of their lives. They have the capacity for incredible goodness, love, and empathy as much as they have the capacity for hate, fear, and greed. There is always a path of redemption, even amongst the most lost of your kind.”
A group of warrior angels of Heaven are tormented in the lower levels of Hell; the deadliest Fallen angel in existence has captured them. In order to free the warriors, Sandriel, a Light angel, is sent from the heavens to negotiate a deal. However, the encounter with Lucifer triggers a flood of memories of her past human life as Nadia, a young village girl whom Lucifer had saved from a demonic assault prior to his fall from Heaven. Sandriel tries to negotiate for asafe return, but in turn finds herself at the mercy of the dark lord of hard muscles and dark sultriness. How will Sandriel save the others, and herself, and ... does she want to be saved?
This was a really enjoyable read! Set in the depths of Hell, there were also clever glimpses of other religious beliefs, which I really appreciated. The co-existence of beliefs was refreshing. I liked that I didn't really see what was coming in this novel - there was a clever pace to the plot: there were some flashbacks, but also some other characters lines coinciding at the same time, which really developed this strong sense of impending doom to come. Maybe would have liked it a little spicier for my tastes, but the growing tension between Sandriel and Lucifer was palatable. Like complicated and believable. Indie author Robbins has done an all round great job of this and I def recommend picking it up.
“Every gift that you are born with is given for a reason. Failure to use it to its fullest potential insults not only yourself but the life you have been given.”
Lucifer's Fall is a compelling dark fantasy, first book in the Fallen Chronicles. The story follows Sandriel's journey, a Light angel sent to negotiate with Lucifer to free her fellow angels from his captivity. Sandriel is a complex protagonist, whose memories of her past life as a human add an additional layer of depth to the story. Sandriel's visions create a sense of connection between her and Lucifer, and she experiences conflicted emotions as a result. Her capture and subsequent discovery of her unique abilities, hint at a character who is resourceful and capable of handling the challenges thrown her way. The characterization of Lucifer is particularly strong, he is portrayed as a powerful, dangerous figure who enjoys instilling fear in others, he is also very handsome and mysterious with too many secrets. The chemistry between Sandriel and Lucifer is instant and sizzling. I immensely enjoyed their moments together. The use of Hell and the Fallen angels as settings and characters respectively, also provide an interesting backdrop for the story, creating a richly dark and intense atmosphere. The combination of Hindu and Greek mythologies with the story of Lucifer's fall is unique and exceptional. The author has given an amazing twist to Lucifer’s story which makes the story sensational. There's also an interesting sub-plot running in the story, where the other inhabitants of Hell are conspiring againts the King of Hell. Witches, Vampires, Demons, and greek gods are also involved in this plot. The writing style is vivid, the dialogue are well crafted, and the author has done an excellent job of building tension and suspense, sense of danger and intrigue, which keeps the book thrilling and engaging throughout. Overall, it is well-written and exciting first installment in a series. I cannot wait to find out how the story moves forward and excited to meet Sandriel and Lucifer again in next book.
First of all, I want to thank Verusha for gifting me a copy of her book to read! 🥰
This book was a nice break from the typical fantasy with fae and witches and such! It was full of twists and turns, with obstacles and challenges galore!
Sandriel, our FMC, is an angel who is sent on a mission involving Lucifer. She makes a deal with the devil himself, but during her time spent in his realm she is reminded of a past life she had with him. With flashbacks and dreams of the memories they shared, she finds out they are more connected than she could’ve ever imagined. She faces many trials and tests, including facing her own dark side and fighting off demonic beasts.
Lucifer is dark, handsome, broody, morally grey and angry about his past. Throughout the story he pushes Sandriel to grow into her power and realize who she really is and what she really wants.
It ended on a huge cliffhanger that has you needing to know what happens next. I would suggest giving this a try if you like:
Fated mates Enemies to lovers Slow burn Dark, brooding mmc with a jaded past Reincarnation Angles & demons Greek mythology
I just finished Obsidian light (2nd book in this series) and oh my goodness I am dying for the rest of the series to come out!!
I’ve been a fan of this story since it was on Wattpad and I was devastated when Verusha took it down thinking I wouldn’t be able to read it again… but when I saw that she was publishing it on Amazon I was so so happy and especially excited for her since her writing is fantastic and deserves to be published!!! I was so excited to buy both the books and I can’t to see how this story is going to pan out!!
If you’re looking through the reviews to see if this story is worth the read, let me tell you now, IT IS!!
I was seriously and pleasantly impressed with the quality and content of this dark fantasy romance. The world is complex and yet very well described, and the characters are well developed. The romance component is definitely a slow burn, which I hope develops further. A wonderful mix of gods, angels, demons, witches and other mythology. I am very keen to read the next book and see where this story goes.
3.75 just cuz there were a few clichés I don’t like and also the character building is a little... I can tell these books used to be joined cuz WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT ENDING??? but damn me if I didn’t love the writing.
Loved this one! Really enjoyed the plot of this book and how quickly the reader gets into the story! I though the pacing of the book worked well with the plot! The characters were well thought out and developed creating well rounded characters that were easy to connect to! I loved the romance between Sandriel and Lucifer! I thought the tension was built up really nicely throughout the book! That ending has me so excited for what will come in the next book! Definitely recommend this book if you enjoy dark fantasy books, books with angels, fallen angels, and demons, and romantasy books!
If you are a fan of Jaymin Eve’s Shadow Beast Shifter series, C.N. Crawford’s Hades Castle trilogy or K. F. Breene’s Demon Days, Vampire Nights series, you’ll love this book! It is a DARK fantasy and Robbins seems to enjoy torturing her readers along with her heroine, but this book builds an incredible world with characters that make you think this romance will be impossible.
I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, but I was so anxious to see what would happen that I immediately purchased book 2 (Obsidian Light.)
Book one doesn’t have any romantic steam, but book 2 has a little. I am hoping that side of the series will heat up in future books and I can’t wait to see how Robbins’ story unfolds!
just boring and unnecessarily long. i skipped so many pages hoping for something interesting to happen. 1000+ pages of uninteresting words lmaooo. extremely drawn out only to be left on an extremely underwhelming “cliffhanger”. they had challenges but my battle was fighting sleep. i can’t even point out my exact issues because nothing memorable took place here. However, there’s a part 2? hoping something actually goes down in that book. otherwise this is a complete waste of time
A big thank you to Verusha for allowing me access to read this amazing dark fantasy romance!

Thoughts🔥
I loved every minute reading this!
As a big fan of fantasy romance, this book DID NOT disappoint. Firstly let’s talk world building, the world that was built was absolutely beautiful, and what I loved most was the complete contrast between the two worlds.
This story is told in a dual timeline, using flashbacks. These worked so well to give us an insight of how life was for Sandriel and Lucifer beforehand! This helped a lot with understanding their characters, but also helped with character development.
Now, let’s talk TENSION. This book had me going insane over the tension. The chemistry you could feel between Sandriel and Lucifer was unreal and I loved every interaction between the two!
This story is really well written, and some description used were somewhat poetic. The plot was amazing, with definite means of development which I can’t wait to read more about in the second book!!
Overall, if you are a fan of dark fantasy romance, definitely give Lucifers Fall a read!!
THANK YOU @verusharobbins_author for my gifted copy of Lucifer’s Fall! I seriously don’t know how I went so long without reading this book. If there is one book I think deserves more hype, it’s this one.
Lucifer’s Fall is a fast paced fantasy romance book that centers around an angel named Sandriel and the fallen angel, Lucifer. Sandriel makes a bargain with Lucifer so he will let warriors from the City of Light go, in exchange for her to spend 15 hours worth of time with him. However, things don’t go to plan during their first meeting after the negotiation and he kidnaps her.
It was AMAZING to read about Sandriel’s growth throughout this book. She really learns how to hone her power and she learns just how rare and special her power is. I love the connection that she has with Lucifer and the “thread” that she feels toward him.
Lucifer seems like he is really fighting an internal battle with himself and you can see the way he fights his feelings toward Sandriel. He constantly says that he doesn’t have a soul but the way he acts towards her makes me think he still has one! Their tension towards each other was amazing! I loved their scenes together!
I absolutely loved the time jumps between the present, and Sandriel’s past life, when she was Nadia. You get to see another side of Lucifer when he and Nadia were together before he Fell.
My biggest love from this book, aside from the romance!, was the mythology and world building. Robbins brought in Gods and Goddesses from all types of mythology, including Greek and Egyptian, and this was so cool to see! I loved it!!
This is Book 1 in The Fallen Chronicles series and I seriously can’t wait to read the next book, Obsidian Light! This book does a PHENOMENAL job of setting the world and plot up and I am so excited to dive more into this world!
Thank you so much Verusha Robbins for sending me a copy of this book!
Lucifer’s Fall is the first book in a Fantasy Romance series with angels, demons and enemies to lovers romance that I really enjoyed!
When angels are captured by the fallen, Sandriel is sent to Hell to negotiate their return. But what she doesn’t expect is for her first meeting with the devil to bring back memories of her previous life as a Nadia, a human girl who was in love with Lucifer before he fell. Forced to make a bargain to spend time with him in exchange for the angels’s freedom, Sandriel will have to deal with her confusing memories of a gentle man who is much different from the Lucifer she knows all the while trying to survive Hell’s nightmares.
I’ve read a lot of books about angels and Lucifer, but this one is definitely one of the best. I loved reading about Lucifer and Sandriel’s relationship, both in the present and in memories from her previous life and it was so interesting to see how much they both changed, I can’t wait to find out what exactly happened in the next book. While there is not a lot of romantic scenes between them, there is so much tension I was always waiting for them to finally give in to their obvious attraction, I just loved all their moments together and can’t wait for the rest of their story. Amazing love story aside, I also really liked the unique world the author created, there are not only angels, the fallen and demons, but also gods and goddesses from different mythologies and I loved seeing them interact with each other and am curious how it will all come together.
Lucifer’s Fall is a really great fantasy romance with a lot of my favorite tropes that I really enjoyed and recommend to everyone who enjoys this genre, this book is amazing!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The writing is highly descriptive and the author takes care to use nuanced words to infer shades of meaning. The scenes built themselves in my head as the words flowed on the page.
The main protagonist is very likeable - the irony of an angel with faults and imperfections allows one to connect more with her human tendencies. I found this endearing and also amusing. Sandriel's humorous, often self-deprecating little quips after tense scenes were a delight and I found myself laughing out loud more than once.
The Lucifer character is a complex entanglement of contradictions. The author does a great job of setting readers up to feel the same frustrations that Sandriel did in her dealings with him. I am loathe to say much more without ruining the story for readers of this review.
One may (incorrectly) assume that the premise of a fallen angel and the age-old trope of Light vs Dark would leave nothing new to be said. This book adds a fresh perspective, layering in and exploring spiritual themes and belief systems that go beyond the Christian theology of Lucifer.
I actually think this book is an intriguing metaphor for modern life. Not everything is quite so black and white in our world these days. What one might assume to be inherently good or inherently bad may just be superficial judgements and compartmentalised, restricted thinking. Far better to understand that both can, and need to coexist as they fundamentally define the other.
I read the first book in a day (!!!) and it left me keen to read the second, Obsidian Light. Can't wait!
To set the tone of how much I like this book: I made a goodreads account just so I could leave a review lol. I practically inhaled it over the course of a couple of days.
I have loved this book ever since it first appeared on wattpad years ago - and please don't let the wattpad tag wrongly bias your opinion, this book is pure ART. It is everything I want in a dark fantasy romance, and it executes the genre beautifully well. The characters are interesting, complex, and have a depth that is hard to come across in many popular fantasy romance books **cough cough ACOTAR cough*. The romance is carefully woven throughout the plot, progressing in a way that feels natural and real. In fact, I would say real is a keyword when it comes to the book, and probably the reason I love it so much- the way the characters act and react, and the way the story unfolds mimics reality in a way that makes it so captivating. It's like, if these events were really to take place, this is probably how it would go. There's no cringe-y love at first sight, our main character isn't quirky, and things don't just magically fall into place. It's a slow burn, requiring time, effort, emotions etc... and I LOVE that! There's also a really interesting sense of mystery - you don't really know how things will work out, and what some of the characters' true intentions are, which makes it all the more exciting.
I know I'm just a random voice on the internet, but if you see this review and you are debating whether or not to read this book, I implore you to give it a go!!
And thank you Verusha for sharing your talent with the world, I hope to witness more of it :)
The author of this book reached out to me and gave me a copy of this lovely book! LOTS of world building and touches of angst between the lead characters keeps you coming back for more! The beginning was definitely a little slow for me as the world building was taking place but I could feel the story, characters, and world really hit a stride and find their place about half way through the book. This isn't a negative thing as it is supposed to be a 3 (or maybe 4?) book series and readers will be glad we know all this info later on!
We do love a morally gray bad boy, don't we? And captain of that team is our male lead Lucifer. Nothing more intriguing than a fallen angel ruling hell who seems to have a glimmer of a conscious?! My favorite part is that Luci (I can call ya that right? ;)) isn't one to come in guns a blazing to save our main girly pop. He's teaching her to defend herself. Teach a man to fish and all that.
The book is filled with metaphors and similes I had never read before but are perfect for the time and place. The author did a great job with how well written the book is and I would gladly pick up the next book.
My only real tiff is that it did seem a little like the book included everything but the kitchen sink in a way. It's not really a negative as I can tell the author is excited to get all of their ideas on the page but it could become a hinderance to the story if it isn't focused in a tad bit more.
Thank you so much to Verusha Robbins for the opportunity to read and review this book!!
Lucifer’s Fall is a paranormal romance and book 1 of The Fallen Chronicles. The Warriors of Heaven are imprisoned in Hell, and angel Sandriel is sent to negotiate their release. During the negotiations, Lucifer demands 5 hours of her time in exchange for every angel he releases. Desperate to save the warriors, Sandriel agrees but soon realizes that she might have agreed to more than she bargained for
There was a lot going on with this book, and to avoid spoilers - I’m gonna keep it as vague as possible. This book follows two timelines - one of Lucifer before his fall, and the other is the current timeline with Sandriel and Lucifer. While I enjoyed both timelines, it felt like two entirely separate stories and characters and I personally struggled with the cohesiveness of how they all tied together, but that’s a “me” issue and not a book issue
Overall this was a 3 star read for me. While I did feel conflicted about the timelines, I did like the potential of where this series could go. I felt more romance from the past timeline than the present one, so overall two flames for spice
If you like books with dual timelines, soul mates and multiple underworld pantheons, then absolutely pick this one up!
I received an ARC copy of this book and am leaving a review voluntarily.
The book is available currently.
So, as I’ve said before, I’m always fascinated when authors tackle angels and demons. It’s not one I see often and there’s so much room for exploration. The author takes full advantage of that here. We may not go a lot of places but the places we do go have layers.
So, Sadriel is our protagonist and I admit, at first, I wasn’t sure what to make of her. She initially comes across as very naive and even a bit intelligent but as the story goes on, you realize this was deliberate. She’s closed off what she really knows and we get to see why.
Sadriel has memories of a previous life, and she knew Lucifer…before he fell. And these memories are causing conflicting feelings in her, causing her to question everything she thought she knew.
We get to explore hell and the author is creatively twisted in all we see. This is a dark place, a place where even the good can be corrupted. But there are layers, hierarchies and things are more complicated than even Lucifer believes.
Those of you who like the bad boy trope? This is the pinnacle of it. Lucifer is not a nice person. He can be cruel, malicious, manipulative. And yet, he is intoxicating and you can’t quite hate him.
Absolutely a dynamite start and I will definitely need to see where this goes!
First off, I love the writing. The author has a way of crafting sentences that are so beautiful. I love the concept of this story (I have a weakness for a romance with angels). There was enough action throughout to keep me hooked. I got through this book much faster than my normal reading pace so that says something towards how I felt about this book. I have very high standards when it comes to reading and I tend to be very critical of the books I read, so take the following with a grain of salt.
Overall, it just felt like something was missing. I think where we come into the story has something to do with that. We jump right into Sandriel making a deal with Lucifer without any further explanation as to why he was the way he was towards her. I felt little connection to the characters so therefore their “romance” fell a little flat to me. This story had the potential for such a significant romance and it just didn’t deliver. In fact, everything in the present time felt devoid of any romance. And I don’t think that was the authors intent.
I did enjoy the writing and feel that this author can deliver something impressive in the future. All the bones are there. It just needs to be built upon.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an e-copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book had me hooked from the start and I flew through it. I liked that we’re thrown straight into the story. It didn’t feel confusing or lacking even thought there wasn’t much build up or world building, it just made me more invested in the story. The world building happens throughout the book.
I especially enjoyed the flashbacks to Sandriel’s past life, where you get to see her and Lucifer fall in love. How their story starts and the slow downfall of their relationship.
I did however find it a bit difficult to connect with Lucifer, as the book heavily focuses on Sandriel, but I feel like that will change in book 2. Also, I found Sandriel to be quite reckless at times which was a bit frustrating. The story dragged at times, but I’d still say it’s fast paced and despite all of the things mentioned above, I did really enjoyed the story.
This book did leave me with more questions than answers though, some parts didn’t make sense and felt random, but I do think this is a build up to the next book and will be answered there, so I’m excited to see where the story goes.
This is the first book that I’ve read with Fallen Angles and I loved it! Throughout the book you get revelations as to how the FMC(Sandriel) and MMC(Lucifer) are connected through dreams that Sandriel has.
This story is dark and mysterious and the plot twists and cliffhanger at the end were glorious.
Lucifer. Lucifer is written beautifully as this cold and calculated powerful being and I couldn’t help but to love his character.
Sandriel. Sandriel is written as someone who you are made to think is weak, but throughout the book perseveres and comes out stronger. This on its own had me rooting for her the entire time.
It’s hard to put into words the parts that I loved about this book without including spoilers for the book. With that being said one of my favorite scenes in the book was whenever Sandriel was in the Dungeons of Hell. The scene felt slightly similar to one of the trials UTM that Feyre had gone through in ACOTAR and I was here for it.
I cannot wait to see how the story between Sandriel and Lucifer develops in the next book, along with how Sandriel as a person continues to transform.
I enjoyed this book and I am moving on to the next installment! I have to know more! I love fallen angel books and this was a new direction to go with said fallen angel plot that I appreciated.
This book, to me, is not "morally grey shadow daddy" Lucifer. There's no "cinnamon roll just for her" trope here. This book is a much more raw look at Lucifer and the levels of hell and light VS dark.
The general story may feel slow to some in the beginning but the descriptiveness is necessary to the complex character development. The FMC and MMC are certainly not black and white/cut and dry characters. They are deeply layered and I feel peeling back their layers is extremely important to this story. The world building of the different levels of hell and the characters unique abilities is much the same.
The only reason for my 4 star VS 5 star rating is that the change from 1st person to 3rd person can be abrupt and confusing at times. There are many different story lines that I assume will converge in future books (which I will be starting ASAP) but have yet to in this first installment.
I just finished the book and it was incredible to read. The story is very well written and easy to follow. There are certain plots not fully developed because it's book one of two published yet. But it leaves you with only a mild cliffhanger.
What you can expect from the book is a rollercoaster of emotions and actions. Also a switch to the past of the protagonist as it is part of her journey to understand what she really is and what she can really do. That, combined with the always lurking seduce of Lucifer as you expect him to be, very masculine, very intriguing and very beautiful, is a mixture of a good love story.
There is no real spice but it doesn't need it to be honest. There are hints of feelings but it's clear that this book is just the beginning of the story of Sandriel, the little light angel and Lucifer, master of the hell.
So if you want to lose yourself in a dark fantasy of heaven and hell with all the realms in-between then read the book. I couldn't put it away and enjoyed every single minute and will continue to get into book 2 now.
I shouldn't be so attracted to the Devil, but HERE WE ARE
I thought the intricate story spun by Verusha was overall well done! It did lag a little for me at around the 70% mark, but then it evened out, and we were left on a great cliffhanger!
Lucifer was my favorite character! Anytime he was on the page, I devoured the story. His smoothness and sensuality, the hint of an underlying story, was just so well done!
Sandriel was a great FMC, but I am excited to see her grow a little past her indoctrinated beliefs in the future books. I can see she has the potential to be a game changer, and I'm eager to see where her story goes!
Overall, anyone who loves stories of light vs. dark, angels vs. fallen angels, light magic, witches and gods, and then dark fae were mentioned (!!!) will like this book! It really has a little bit of everything. There was definitely some tension between the two characters, but no on page smut.
