Leaving Church, Finding God: Discovering Faith Beyond Organized Religion

Rate this book
So, you've walked away from the church? Or you're thinking about it? You’re not alone.

Over three thousand believers in the USA walk away from the church daily, and the reasons are many.

Some have biblical doubts they can’t reconcile. Others have been hurt by church authorities who supposedly represent Jesus Christ on earth. Some are discouraged, feeling they will never meet God's approval or measure up to other Christians' standards. And, to be frank, some don’t want to be part of institutions that seem to have missed the simple message of Jesus altogether.

Many of these church refugees still long to know Jesus, but they are tired of playing the game of religion. Often, those who leave the church are people of real inner integrity and spiritual intelligence who can’t “go along with the program” any longer.

Maybe you are one of them.

If so, the question remains; can you have a deep and meaningful faith beyond the church walls?

The answer is yes!

Leaving Church, Finding God is a raw and powerful testimony of a former pastor’s journey from disillusionment, doubt, and disappointment with the church, which ultimately leads to a vibrant and transformative relationship with God.

Through his raw and honest storytelling, Dan Foster shows readers that it’s okay to question the church and even leave it if necessary. He challenges the reader to look beyond the trappings of modern-day legalistic, performance-based religion and, instead, seek a deeper, more personal connection with God.

Leaving Church, Finding God is a powerful and uplifting story of redemption and renewal and is a must-read for anyone struggling with the church. Dan Foster’s message is one of hope, healing, and the transformative power of faith, and it is sure to resonate with readers of all backgrounds and beliefs.

Just Another “No Hell Bell” False Teacher

If there is one subject the Bible is VERY clear on, it’s eternal punishment for the wicked. Unfortunately, this former pastor doesn’t agree. It’s at this point, he lost me completely. Don’t waste your time or money on this filth.

The church is in trouble at the moment and all studies point to large declines in attendance. Where does that leave Christians disillusioned with the church yet still clinging to their faith? Daniel Foster examines that in his thought-provoking and daring book. I came away feeling more positive about my own faith and convinced that there are plenty of routes to God that don't involve the institutionalized church. This is a must-read both for those who have left the church and for those still there but with questions as to why church numbers are in such steep decline.

Leaving Church, Not finding God

I enjoyed reading this book and found that Daniel Foster really touched on points that coincided with my experiences in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. I, however, did not discover faith beyond organized religion. I am currently an atheist and I am enjoying freedom and peace for the first time in my life.

I wish this book had been around decades ago. My relationships with God and with others (especially church people) would have been far less complicated, and less fraught with anxiety.

This had many parts that resonated. However, it also had moments that I questioned. But then again, I know I don’t have the answers as does anyone. It was comforting to read that I’m not alone in certain feelings as I navigate.
