At 10,425 words, "Wake" is the longest in "The Runners" series.
More in "The Runners" Runner (The Runners, Part One) Caught (The Runners, Part Two) Rescued (The Runners, Part Three) Wake (The Runners, Part Four) Eden (The Runners, Part Five)
Wake is the forth in this series by Logan Rutherford and we are finally getting answers.
However, to the answers, I was in complete shock towards them. I most definitely didn't see it coming and I loved that it was even more of an bigger twist then what I read in a review for this bad boy.
If you've read the last three then this will most absolutely put a smile on your face. We enter a world we don't see coming and it's amazing. You wont be disappointed, I tell you.
On the other hand if you've haven't read it and you're looking for something fast and short, go and check this series out.
I can't say much or it'll spoil the big news but I can say is....
that I am happy and can't wait to get and read the final, Eden. Plus, I can't wait for his latest project. Twist and turns, a little romance blooming and a big decision has to be made before their world goes down in crumbles.
The plot of the story is good and different. But the editing is so bad and annoying that I don't want to read anymore of the story. This and the first short story were so obviously not proofread. Honestly, how hard is it with a story this short and quick to read, to not do a quick read through. Almost every other sentence has either a spelling or grammatical error, or both, so obvious they smack you in the face. In the future, with any books by this author, I'll read a sample first before spending my money. Even if it's a great story when the editing is this bad I can't enjoy it. Making it not worth my time or money.
Wow, what can I say? The writing has gotten better and you can significantly notice the improvements. It is definitely not as bad as the first one. With a little bit of practice this author can go far!
This book begins with Adam and Eve caught in the basement of the safe house. They went looking for answers but the Kappa soldiers found them and tried to kill them. With the random pop up knowledge of knowing how to shoot and aim, Adam and Eve killed the remaining men. After they were all done, a girl named London submerged and introduced herself. She zapped Adam and Eve with a gun and they both disappeared into another world. Eve wakes up Adam and tells him of a woman named Athena who will answer all of his many questions. There is a lot of information to process at one point and I found myself a bit confused at others. Basically he was zapped into a world underground called Wake. It is an all metal base hidden beneath the many layers of the world. Athena told Adam that he was a clone of Marcus, the ruler of Kappa. Adams whole life was a lie and was all made up by the programmers of Eden since the real world was destroyed years ago. Adam knew how to shoot before because a programmer named Brutus was downloading all the information to his brain for him. They need Adam to kill Marcus but they fear he will die once Marcus died since he is part of him.
Sorry if you are confused. I think you will have to read it to understand. Because there is so much more to their world that I just really don’t want to type out. I am definitely eager to read the next one and I would not recommend this series to everyone. Here I go!
So I thought this was the last of the series, but I get to the end and there is one more, lol. More action in this one. Adam & Eve find themselves sort of trapped in the basement of the house they're staying in, surrounded by men who are after them. They kick butt! I gotta hand it to them; they held their own pretty well; though found it a bit disturbing that they were not more 'shocked' if you will, that they killed every one of the men who had them surrounded. After a shocking revelation that Eve is not quite a 'runner' herself, and knows more than she had initially let Adam think, he is taken to Athena, an elder of a coucil of sorts, who explains to him why he's being hunted down by these men of the Kappa. It is a lot of info to deal with, but Adam takes it pretty well. He makes a very important decision at the end of the book, for the good of others. Let's see in book 5 how he does!
Rutherford is taking a good story idea and breaking it up into bits that are too small. The books do not have the content to stand alone, but together they make a pretty interesting story. Rutherford has created characters that are interesting, but has only begun to develop them. SERIOUSLY - the editing is horrible, on the verge of making me put the book down. Trying to read a story with poor grammar and many spelling mistakes is extremely frustrating - I just never realized how frustrating until reading this book.
Part 4 is where the revelations happen. Finally we discover what the whole Runner thing means and why Adam is so relevant. At first I was a little shocked by how things changed because the previous installments are different of this one, not only because of the length but also the written seems a bit more mature.
Being a short tale the story moves really fast which gives dynamism to the action. Now we have a more description and evolution of the characters and there are more feelings involved.
If you enjoy the three previous books this one is a must.
I've enjoyed all of the stories so far but thought that this one definitely needed to be looked over by the author again and re-issued. There were so many errors, not only punctuation and grammar, but a misuse of words (ie. soldier instead of shoulder). It almost seemed like this one was rushed to be put out. All things considered, I've thoroughly enjoyed this series and look forward to the last installment. Make it soon, Logan!! :)
This was definetly a good one because everything is revealed now. It was a bit confusing in the beginning but became clearer as it went on. I'm thinking there is sonme significance outside of this for the names and Eden but i may be reading into it too much. The "love" story finally coem full circle and I know something'll go wrong there. Definitely a step up from the last one
By far the best of the series up to this point. The three previous parts were good, but kinda left you hanging as to what exactly was going on...all those questions are answered in this one, taking you on an unexpected trip down some science fiction goodness. :P
