There’s Gold in Those Hills

New girl in town Kayla Smith is determined to make Bend the location of her next big romance. But why this outdoorsy Central Oregonian Town?

Because everyone knows that Bend is where the rich singles roam – and Kayla wants to marry one by the end of the year!

But what this gold digger least suspects is finding herself on the other end of a BMW. While the driver is a formidable catch in his own right, it’s his cousin Tove who goes ga-ga for Kayla when they inevitably meet.

And They’re Still Handing Out Shovels

Tove Fredriksson’s relationship with her wealthy extended family has always been fraught with favors, expectations, and the assumption that she remain a bachelorette for the rest of her life. But at fifty years old, Tove is ready to open her heart again – even after being out of practice for twenty years.

Yet it’s the young and vivacious Kayla who convinces Tove to cast off the steadfast life of the family accountant and to go all-in on love. The woman she initially assumes to be a gold digger chasing the Fredriksson men soon declares she only has eyes for Tove.

Until the lies become too hot to handle, of course.

It’s the Boom Before the Bust

As winter snowstorms give way to desert summer heat, Tove must decide if she’s willing to go against her family for love. And Kayla must keep up the illusion long enough to put a ring on it. The sooner, the better.

One rediscovers the youthful heart inside of her… and the other discovers that love and marriage aren’t just about securing one’s future.

They’re also about the ridiculous, pompous family that comes with it!

JUST FOR HER is a steamy age gap romance. The happy ending may be a guarantee, but it doesn’t always come easy!

I laughed a number of occasions and felt sorry for the unveiling situation.
A practical life situation story that got me imagining in any of the positions of these women and glad i was not.

I always try to find things that I connect to in a book and this one was so hard to read for me. What I liked most in books is feeling with characters so, when I read romance I expect to feel their love. I don’t even have to love the characters, I even like morally grey and complex characters. Of course, it's better if I like them. I didn't find this in this book. It's the least romantic book I have ever read. I didn't feel any love in this book. Kayla doesn't fell for Tove, she is just : I am not queer but I don't hate the sex. It’s like she was saying : I expected to eat a good steak but I am trying fish and I don’t hate it. It was not romantic nor steamy, because I also found the spicy scenes disappointing with no chemistry. I was expecting to feel Kayla shift from seeking money security (which I can almost understand with her backgournd)to falling for Tove and ending up with guilty feeling, but she is focused on money 95% of the book. The ending could not make me forgive her or see her as something else but a gold digger. But reading the comments, I am clearly in the minority here.
I hate to write this kind of review but the writing was clearly not for me.

This is a great age-gap, gold digger story. Kayla is self aware and focused on her goals, but there’s a deeper drive to her than greed and wanting that princess life. Kayla is experienced at being a sugar baby so she’s well versed in fitting into the mold her partner wants. I enjoyed the pace and progression of seeing her adjust to her new target and eventually realizing there’s a greater possibility on the horizon. I love Tove. She’s the family fixer in that her role has been to take care of their money and then cleans up the messes her family throws at her for other’s indiscretions. Unfortunately, the weight of her obligations to family, while always being kept on the outskirts hasn’t allowed her the freedom to really live, be herself, or go after what she wants. The two of them together could be a great match but the lies, omissions, and self denial seem set to see them self destruct. The supporting characters are (mostly) a delight and provide obstacles and assistance to both Kayla and Tove as they navigate their relationship.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

It's a rather confusing story, definitely romance, definitely sapphic. But, I'm not sure I liked the premise.
I am not a stranger to the trope of "sugar baby" or "gold diggers" that fall in love with their mark. This book, however, rides the hype and takes it a bit further than I was comfortable with.
I found the younger MC very hard to like, despite many redeeming qualities, and I could not figure out the older MC who was acting like a 90-year-old woman with no reason to live. Seriously, the first part of this book had me frustrated and confused.

With the 2nd part came a slower pacing and that made everything more credible and less confusing. I started to believe in the attraction, the feelings, and the possibility of a real relationship... the slower pace made it all better for me.

Finding Love

Kayla Smith moved to Bend, Oregon, in hopes of finding a rich man to lure to the altar. Her first day in town she is “bumped” by a BMW driven by a Fredicksen, the local royalty. When she meets Tove, the family accountant and fixer, she changes her target to the fifty year old lesbian. A story of lying, lust and love with a bunch of heart ache thrown in. Love the author.

I really enjoyed this book - I think it is my favourite form these authors so far.

The characters were fleshed out really well and the storyline went at a really good pace.

The only thing is, I wanted to wrap Tove up in a huge hug for the majority of the book. i felt for her so much! I wanted more of her by the time I had finished reading!

a great read

It takes honesty to come to terms on what you want out of a relationship. Sometimes when you’re not paying attention love finds it’s way out of the most non romantic relationships.
One can even find that HEA.

Having just finished The Dommes, I was very disappointed in this book. I hated Kayla, how could she do that to Tove? She was all about the money and then decided she was bi? Not very believable I'm afraid. A bit of a disappointment from this author.

This the First

Love the ending on a funny note.
There are reasons you don't hit someone with a car, or a little love tap.
