Written nearly one hundred years ago, Ernest Wood lays out the seven rays of our strongest motivations. The seven rays are a theosophical understanding of personality and purpose. Much like the others, Ennegram, Myers-Briggs, Freud, Benoit, Jung, and so many others who are curious about what makes us human and what makes us an individual, the usefulness is again, understanding our self and accepting others, Wood does an admirable job. We strive towards becoming conscious, developing character, and practicing love for others. One of the benefits of reading the older philosophies is validating once more the basic truths of individuals being unchanging. Wood's intelligence, vast experience in India and teaching gifts are patent.
Good book on western esotericism. Uses a lot of indian terms which can muddle the finer details but an interesting exposition overall. Sheds some light on alchemic symbology of the primordial elements.
One of the better books that I have found on the rays. There is a nice summary here of the teachings, while also adding some good clarity and insight. It's some advanced spiritual reading though, and familiarity with the concepts discussed is recommended.
