My mum bought me this book as a gift and I thought it was so weird. I eventually realized that I LOVED this book. It gave me so much motivation as a teen! Please give this book a read! You won't regret it!

Growing up is difficult, there is absolutely no doubt about that. Having read, and been fascinated by Dr Zoe Williams’ You Grow Girl I also think that of all the topics she covers for girls there is not a single one that could not be relevant to, and read about by grown women. I know that I found some of it very reassuring as someone who still deals with complex body issues, mental health and confidence, this book gave me plenty of things to think about and mantras to equip myself with. Principally the message for everyone from this book is that growing up is strange, confusing but also incredibly exciting.

Dr Zoe Williams is an NHS GP, an expert on debunking the sometimes-confusing world of medicine. In this book she does that and more as she helps girls ride the rollercoaster of growing up more smoothly. At first sight the book could be considered to cover all the ‘usual’ topics such as periods and body changes, but it truly does more than this. Exploring individual confidence and who we each are as a person, how to keep ourselves healthy - body and mind - family and friendships this is not in any way a ‘usual’ book addressing growing up. Among the top tips and great advice are absolutely brilliant illustrations. The bursting spot and the new hair growth may look a little OTT, but they bring great comfort as we realise it could never actually be that bad! For anyone going through the process of growing up, at whatever stage they may be, for anyone with body or mental health issues at any age, this is an outstandingly reassuring, accessible book.
