Will Annie find treasure in her field of sunflowers? Annie Jamison is the sister who keeps the peace. So when her mother goes missing, Annie's the one sent to retrieve her. There's one problem. It seems the town Willa Jamison (willingly) ran off to--Sunflower, Kansas-- doesn't exist. Sure, it's on the map, but when Annie drives there, she finds herself in the middle of a field. Of sunflowers. In nearby Bonner Springs, Kansas, Annie finds her errant mother...and Joe Kelly, a handsome veterinarian who thinks Annie is part of a team of con artists out to swindle his father. It takes some time, but eventually, Joe's working with Annie instead of against her to bring their wacky parents to their senses. When this unlikely team turns into an unlikely couple, Annie no longer wants to leave her field of sunflowers. She wants happily-ever-after with Joe Kelly. But when evidence of the con resurfaces, will Joe have enough faith in Annie to recognize the truth?

This book's blurb made it sound so good, but I wound up very disappointed in it! The plot was extremely slow moving, almost to the point of not being resolved, except for a last minute save! There is very little chemistry between Joe and Annie, and they both had a hard time in giving up control. In fact, it seemed that Annie had to micromanage everything! I felt like everyone was acting rather childishly and judgmentally throughout the entire book, and I wound up rather bored with it all. The faith aspect was barely there, and I felt that much more could have been done with it, especially since Annie had long since fallen away from the practice of her faith. This was my first introduction to the author, but I think it might be my last, as this is definitely not a keeper for my shelves!
There will be no clicking your heels three times to get you home from this whimsical romance, nor will you want this one to ever end. I just finished a great summer novel, Love Finds You in Sunflower, Kansas by Pamela Tracy and it left me with such "ah" moments! This feeling alone is one of the reasons I am so addicted to reading and trust me, you'll want to pick this one up for a great summer book to add to your list.
An unexpected encounter in a cornfield when a car runs out of gas will change the lives of the residents of Bonner Springs, Kansas starting off with Joe Kelly. He's the local town's veterinarian who happens upon a rental car left on the side of the road. What he doesn't expect to find inside is the girl of his dreams and his Christmas wish list all rolled into one, asleep on the back seat.
Seems her GPS got her a bit sidetracked trying to find Sunflower, Kansas which he explains to Annie Jamison is pretty much an abandoned and deserted town. Most of the residents now live in Bonner Springs just outside the town limits of Sunflower. Offering her a lift into town, he learns the reason she is here is to bring her crazy mother back home to Tucson, Arizona. It seems her 53-year-old mother has taken up the notion that she is a private detective after completing some courses at a local community college and is there working on her first case.
However when Joe learns that her mother, Willa is the one his father, Max has hired, he believes that the two women are conspiring to steal from them. Will this be the beginning of a love story or the case of the century to find what is missing from all their lives?
I received Love Finds You in Sunflower, Kansas compliments of Summerside Press for my honest review and I LOVED this one so well, I was sad when I turned the final page. I honestly felt like Pamela Tracy created such believable characters, I didn't want their story to end. From all the lovable encounters they all wind up in, to the search for the lost items, Willa was hired to find, you'll love each and every moment because the story is an unforgettable one. This one rates in my opinion a true 5 out of 5 stars and will be welcomed in my personal library forever. I could see having a series of sequels that come from the characters you'll find in this one!
SUMMARY: Will Annie find treasure in her field of sunflowers? Annie Jamison is the sister who keeps the peace. So when her mother goes missing, Annie’s the one sent to retrieve her. Of sunflowers. In nearby Bonner Springs, Annie finds her errant mother… and Joe Kelly, a handsome veterinarian who thinks Annie is part of a team of con artists out to swindle his father. It takes some time, but eventually, Joe is working with Annie instead of against her in order to bring their wacky parents to their senses. When this unlikely team turns into an unlikely couple, Annie no longer wants to leave her field of sunflowers. She wants happily-ever-after with Joe Kelly. But when evidence of the con resurfaces, will Joe have enough faith in Annie to recognize the truth?
REVIEW: This LFY novel had more depth to the storyline than some of them I have read with several minor plot lines i.e. the relationship between Max and Willa, the 3 lost/stolen coins, the relationship between Annie and her sisters, and the tension between the Hicks and Kelly families. I enjoyed the developing relationship between Joe and Annie and the manner in which Joe encouraged Annie in her reconnection to her faith. The humor of the Armchair Detective Agency specializing in finding lost things was a nice thread. Looking forward to see more from this new-to-me author.
FAVORITE QUOTES: "Most people don't understand that there are two categories of worry...... There's the worry that leads to anxiety--anxiety so crippling that one ceases to function in a healthy manner. Then, there's worry that inspires one to action.....That worry might best be called concern."
"If you know God, then it doesn't matter where you are. He is there and He's all you need."
"You leave now, you're like one of the wildflowers that sneak into my garden. You grow, amaze everyone with your beauty, and then you're gone before anyone can full appreciate you."
"She pushed God aside one step at a time. Then she'd pretended she hadn't noticed His apparent absence."
I'm typically not a fan of a romance novel where the first kiss is not until the next to the last chapter of the book, but with this book, it somehow seemed to work. It was a sweet book with a happy ending.
Love Finds You In Sunflower, Kansas by Pamela Tracy Annie Jamison is a workaholic, must fix everything, middle daughter. She has started two business's and really does not have time for what seems to be her mother losing her common sense. Annie's controlled life flips upside down when her mother disappears on her new business of being an armchair detective. Annie and her two sisters have to become detectives to find out where her mom disappeared to and it all leads to Annie going to the retrieve their wayward mother in some non-existent place called Sunflower, Kansas. A trip that will challenge and change Annie forever.
Joe Kelly is attracted to Annie the minute he lays his eyes on her until he finds out she related to the woman he’s sure is conning his dad. They get over their rough beginning and work together so she can help her mom finish finding what is lost and get her back to Arizona. Only within a few days of meeting her, sending Annie back to Arizona is the last thing Joe wants.
This is one of those books where once I picked it up I didn't want to stop reading. It’s full of humor, a touch of, “who done it?” type mystery and even love at first sight. Tracy adds little things about the characters to make them seem like maybe they are the guilty party and keeps you guessing to the end. Most of the book takes place in Bonner Springs since the real Sunflower is deserted.
The Love Finds You series are individual books by Summerside Press. Different authors writing a romance story that takes place in towns with unique names. These towns are real. When finished the series will contain at last one story from all the fifty states. http://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com/...
Annie's recently widowed mom becomes involved in an ammeter armchair detective group and suddenly disappears--she ends up being in Kansas on a job. Annie rushes there to bring her mom home and Joe stumbled onto her--his dad is the one who hired her. Joe thinks his dad is being conned, but in reality, that's not at all the case.
Annie and Joe are both so determined not to like one another and to protect their parents, but things don't always go according to plan.
These Love Finds You books are totally clean Christian fiction and gentle romances--with the romance developing throughout, but not blooming until the very end.
This book was a fast and easy read. It grabbed my attention since I live near Sunflower. The map at the back of the book really needs to be updated as it has Sunflower located near Wichita when it is actually a suburb of Kansas City. I thought the book stopped short of really filling the story, almost like the author was looking for a quick ending and needed to cut pages rather than go a few extra chapters and give a more full conclusion.
This is definitely a feel good, sweet novel. While there wasn't a lot of action, the story moved along at a nice speed. Read my full review: http://faithlovebooks.blogspot.com/20...
