The Marriage Solution

Rate this book
Julie
My hot, fiercely protective best friend Landon just dropped to one knee in the middle of the Bellagio with the perfect solution to all my problems.

After an unexpected diagnosis and a run of bad luck, I’m officially down and out. That is, until my best friend of two decades offers me his name… and his health insurance.

We’re in Vegas for someone else’s wedding. The last thing I ever expected was a proposal of my own—especially from Landon, my rock, my closest friend even when we’re miles apart. He’s always been gorgeous, but except for that drunken almost-kiss back in college, the only thing between us is friendship.

What’s a marriage of convenience between pals? Besides, Landon lives hundreds of miles away. Nothing has to change.

Right?

Landon

I popped the question, put a ring on it, and slapped Julie’s name on my health insurance policy. Problem solved.

It’s supposed to be a marriage of convenience. However, when my job relocates me to New York and I move in with my wife I find out there’s nothing convenient about our arrangement.
It all seemed so simple until the Elvis officiant said, “kiss the bride.” The second our lips touched, nothing was ever the same.

Es la primera vez que leo un romance donde la protagonista padece Lupus y te lo dan a conocer, al igual que todo el proceso de aceptación y adaptación a su condición.
Es muy bueno para el tipo de romance que me gusta y que andaba buscando jaja 😍

If you’re interested, this has friends to lovers, fake marriage, forced proximity, more mature characters on the brink of 40, a good dash of sexy, and dealing with chronic illness.

Nothing really bad but nothing exceptionally really good. Standard MF fare that was an easy read and thankfully, with minimal drama.

The Marriage Solution delivers some of my go to tropes and it didn’t disappoint. Best friends to lovers, marriage of convenience and cinnamon roll hero to name a few. Landon was a fantastic cinnamon roll hero who absolutely adored Julie. They’re in their late thirties , which I love to read about, and their history only made their connection more strong and palpable.
Their twenty years of friendship only solidified their bond but also how comfortable they were around one another. First as friends and then as lovers.
So it was so entertaining and sweet how they slowly started to see each other as more. As THE ONE.
The chronic illness rep was flawlessly and authentically written and my admiration for Julie grew as the story progressed.
The secondary characters were amazing. Their close friends Dean and Maria of course but also Julie’s neighbor Karen made an impression.
If you’re in the mood for low angst, great characters and swoon worthy romance then The Marriage Solution is just the right book.

Julie and Landon’s story was a gorgeously told friends-to-lovers story that had me swooning and celebrating right along with the characters. The way Landon fiercely protected and stood up for her and ensured she took care of herself, made him the perfect hero. Their love was true and sweet and so deliciously steamy. This was an utterly relatable story that made me feel seen and understood as someone dealing with a chronic illness. Julie’s struggles were real, deeply personal, and yet also inspiring. Her strength and resilience were truly beautiful to see. I can’t recommend this book enough.

Stephanie Rose’s “The Marriage Solution” is a standout in the vast sea of romance books. It offers a beautifully conceived and profound take on the “marriage with convenience” trope. Rarely have I felt such a strong connection with a fictional heroine as I did with Julie, who exuded strength and resilience that left me in awe.

The genuine friendship between Landon and Julie is a highlight of the story, complemented by a supporting cast of characters that are all likable in their own way. Refreshingly, there is no contrived drama. Instead, the narrative feels authentic, mirroring the ups and downs of real life. It serves as a powerful reminder to appreciate those who are there for us through thick and thin, to cherish our health even when it falters, and to embrace every birthday as a precious gift.

“The Marriage Solution” is not just a love story. It is a heartfelt celebration of friendship, a powerful testament to the beauty of life, and a gentle reminder that it’s okay to rely on friends in times of need.

Julie and Landon have been best friends since they were younger. They’ve always had each others backs and cared about each other a lot.

When. Their friends wedding day comes up and they finally meet up again Julie has a big secret to tell that she’s been hiding, a secret that’ll knock him for six.

Julie is kind, caring and loving. She’s dealing with an I’ll was that is life changing and an ex that cheated when he realised how things were going to change.

Landon is such a sweet character, the love he has for his family and friends is beautiful especially Julie. He would do absolutely anything for this woman and this book just goes to show it.

I only had one problem and that was how slow it seemed to go but other than that I enjoyed it.

The Marriage Solution is a best friends to lovers with the forced proximity twist. A fun and exciting read about two best friends and just how far they’d go to help each other.

This standalone is written in first person from an alternating dual POV and ends with a HEA. It is worth much more than 5 stars: I would easily give it ten if I could.
Landon and Julie have been best friends since their freshman year of college twenty years ago. Through relationships, job promotions, grief, and life they have always leaned on each other. Their friendship is so solid and true and deep. They have been each other’s people and would never consider an alternative. They arrive in Las Vegas to attend the wedding of their other two college friends after not seeing each other for 6 months. When Landon learns of Julie’s recent diagnosis and the problems she is facing, he doesn’t hesitate to suggest a solution.
First, Landon was incredible. I loved his protectiveness toward Julie. I loved how tender and caring he was. He handles his fear of her diagnosis with research and all the ideas. He does everything right. Oh, and he is gorgeous, kind, intelligent, driven and really everything a girl could want. Then there is Julie: her confidence and sense of identity have been shaken by her diagnosis and the events that followed. She questions who she is. She wonders what kind of future might be possible. She worries about the unknowns. And she learns to accept herself as different but never less because of the turn things have taken in her life. She is afraid to make those she cares about worry about her. She finally leans on Landon and accepts his solution. I love that their first kiss is when they say, “I do.” I adored the passion and heat between them that took them by surprise. They have been in some kind of denial about their true feelings for a very long time and it takes them both a little while to fully realize what all these feelings mean. Their friends and parents are wonderful additions to the book. I really liked the fact that they have a support system that lets them figure things out on their own- but with little nudges. Once they come together, they are insatiable and steamy as they make up for lost time.
This book is something special. I am full of emotion trying to find the words to do it justice. Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and this is at the top of my favorites list for books with it. Julie’s emotions as she finds her new normal, deals with illnesses that become more too fast, and sinks into the feelings she has always had for the man who is now her husband are turbulent, raw, and real. I appreciate that their black moment is scary but not due to anything in their relationship. They are so solid. There were lots of romantic and steamy moments with a side of fun banter. I am left with all the warm fuzzy feelings. I don’t know if this review actually expresses how much I loved this book. I will just say, “Read this book now.”
I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance review copy of the book.

Julie needs some luck and maybe health insurance. Her best friend Landon decides he can help with one of those. Marry him for her health. They are friends after all so what could go wrong? Well, maybe when their real feelings come to play, a fake marriage may finally turn into something more. What a touching and sweet story about being enough just the way you are. I could relate to so much Julie was going through and loved how sweet Landon was with her. What a beautiful friends to lovers romance story. Told in dual POV

Sometimes the love of your life is right in front of you and you don't even realize it. That's what it's like for two best friends from college, Julie and Landon. When they find themselves in Vegas to celebrate their friend's wedding, Julie confesses that she was recently diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called Lupus. This completely throws Landon into a spiral, and to be honest its a spiral I am extremely familiar with. It's been 20 years since my mom was diagnosed with that same disease. He falls down a rabbit hole and Landon would do anything to make her better. When Julie also confesses she lost her job, Landon has the perfect solution--they should get married. What could possibly go wrong when you already love your best friend.

Their marriage of convenience was supposed to be simple, that is until they share their first kiss as husband and wife. The moment their lips touch, feelings start to come to surface. And when they explode, phew, Stephanie Rose did NOT hold back! These two had 20 years of buildup.

The drama is low but the angst is high in this one. Rose brings a captivating friends to lovers with real life issues and thoughts.

Honestly, I've never felt more seen by characters before as not only did I understand that Landon's thoughts and fears about his wife's new diagnosis and struggles but I felt seen by Julie as well. As someone who has battled her own "invisible" disease for 4 years, it was as if I was hearing my own thoughts. Her fears of mortality and the what ifs will have your heart in a vice and can hopefully help readers who don't deal with this on a regular basis understand the trials and tribulations others go through.

Guys... DO NOT sleep on Stephanie’s books! She writes the best stories with the most swoon worthy men, I am obsessed. I loved reading Julie & Landon’s story, as Karen said it made me giddy as f*ck! The friendship between these two was the most precious/amazing thing. I loved how protective they were of their friendship. Julie was so relatable, trying to do everything and keep it all together. Landon is an alpha cinnamon roll king. I couldn’t put this one down, and highly recommend. You will be swooning right away with these two.

This book is absolute gold and I haven't stopped thinking about it since I finished it two days ago. Best friends to lovers is becoming over of my favorite tropes and Stephanie Rose hit the nail on the head with this one! Things to look for in this book:

Best friends to lovers ✔️
Marriage of convenience with a fake Vegas wedding ✔️
Cinnamon roll Hero ✔️
Heroine with chronic illness rep ✔️
Forced proximity ✔️
He falls first (and HARD) ✔️
Spicy moments ✔️

Landon and Julie have been friends for over 20 years and even with distance, their friendship has never wavered. Now they are in Vegas for their friends wedding and Julie opens up to her recent troubles - from being laid off to being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease - Landon steps right up and offers to marry her for insurance purposes. But when they share their first kiss, the fire that has been simmering all these years has finally caught a flame.

"So this is it? We're doing this?
Yeah, Jules. We are. I love you. I've always loved you, but I'm so in love with you I can barely see straight."

When Landon needs a place to move in when he moves to New York, Julie of course lets her "husband" live with her. Which is both of their undoing - which was absolutely amazing to see! When we are hearing both of their inner thoughts, we can see and literally feel how much they both care about each other, and ultimately are in love with one another. But when they finally realize it, it is beautiful.

"I'd never believed "the one" existed until I'd married her - and then I'd realized that she'd been there all along.

I loved their relationship and the 20 years of build up that led to this point for them. I loved how Landon was such a caretaker and even though Julie didn't know that she needed that, he is the missing piece to her puzzle. And the dirty talking mouth on that man will make you blush!

As usual, Stephanie Rose has put out another feel good romance that will give you all the emotions. Can't wait to read what she puts out next!

DNF @ 35%.
So much overexplaning, paragraphs that don't flow well into each other - I kept getting confused when someone randomly popped in or a sentence didn't make sense. Didn't really care about the two main characters. Next.

Friends to lovers is my favorite trope and Julie and Landon were the perfect match. This author writes the swooniest heroes and Landon was there for Julie every step of the way. They were best friends in college and the closest of confidants. Although they remained in touch, when they met up at their mutual friends’ wedding 20 years later, everything changes. I loved their honest communication and how they genuinely liked and respected each other.

They were both in their 40s now (and I loved that they were older and more mature), and when they decide to act on their romantic feelings, it’s full steam ahead.

The Marriage Solution is clever and witty, yet sad and emotional at the same time. She discloses a health issue and Landon’s solution is to marry her. They are already in Vegas so what the heck! They knew each other on a deep personal level, and I loved their journey as their marriage of convenience became their marriage for real.

Love all the secondary characters and the reunion of their mutual friends, and how they all knew it was only a matter of time before Julie and Landon saw what they saw all along. The Marriage Solution is a low-angst, feel good romance told in dual POV that should be on your must-read summer TBR list!

QOTD: Have you ever been to Las Vegas?
My A: Nope!
.
After reading and loving my first three Stepahnie Rose novels, I knew I wanted to read more. So when I was sent this arc I immediately knew it would be my next read. I was not disappointed! There is something so easy and fun about Stephanie’s writing style that keeps me coming back for more. The characters are likable and relatable, the plot is believable (a biggie when it comes to the marriage of convenience trope!), there's plenty of chemistry, always some steam and a happily ever after to wrap it all up. I mean, honestly, what more could you ask for?
.
It’s been awhile since I’ve read a true Friends To Lovers like this and it was super fun to dive back into what was once my favorite trope (enemies to lovers got its claws into me). This was super low angst (as in non-existent), and on the fluffy side, but I wasn’t mad at it. My last few reads have been emotional whiplash and it was refreshing to read a book where two people actually TALKED. I loved that they kept their friendship first and foremost and was the highlight of the entire book! I’ll definitely be picking up more Stephanie Rose novels in the future!
.

The Marriage Solution is everything I love in a friends to lovers romance!

Landon and Julie took me on an emotional ride that I was not prepared for, and I fell hard for their story. I loved seeing these two friends realize deeper feelings for one another and how they supported each other through Julie's recent diagnosis. It had me laughing, tearing up and tugged at all of my heartstrings!

What an amazing story. Julie and Landon are the sweetest couple and just so loveable from the very beginning. This book is an incredible love story that gives the reader all the feels and happiness. Julie's medical struggles also make the book even more relatable as we watch her and her loved ones facing the realities of what life becomes. Her struggles with her self perception and body images is something that almost any reader can find in themselves. I loved reading her realize both her love for Landon and also herself throughout this book. ❤️

This was my introduction to this author’s work and I couldn’t have asked for a better reading experience!

This is best friends to lovers perfection. Flawed and relatable characters and experiences make this story super special and realistic.

Julie & Landon have been best friends for twenty years. Fresh off a failed engagement, a lay-off, and a sudden Lupus diagnosis which she’s kept to herself, Julie finds herself in what feels like a hopeless situation..and the loss of her health insurance is just salt on the wound. After finally sharing the details of her situation with Landon, he proposes what sounds like a crazy solution..they’re in Vegas, so why not get married? It would only be on paper and she’d be covered by his health insurance. So that’s exactly what they do..a Vegas quickie wedding that they will keep to themselves. The only thing is, they didn’t expect to feel what they did when they shared their first kiss as fake husband and wife.

And so unfolds an all-consuming, “it’s always been you,” friends-to-lovers romance that they never saw coming.

Read if you like:

💖 Marriage of convenience

💖 Chronic illness representation

The love that radiates from Julie and Landon's story is unlike anything I've read in a long time. There's so much more to them than their two decades long friendship and when they realize it, magic ensues!

I love how they have been each other's constant over the years. When Julie admits her new health struggles to Landon, he wants to do whatever he can to help. So he proposes a "Marriage Solution" to get Julie the health insurance she needs. Little did he know, he would be making the best decision of his life by marrying her. These two are seriously the sweetest and most definitely get the HEA they deserve! The sexual tension and easy banter between them is everything. Landon is protective and supportive and so loving. Julie is stronger than she knows and a total sweetheart. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and even teared up a few times!!!

Not only is this an amazing story about love, it's also about perseverance and figuring out how to live a life that wasn't part of the plan. Autoimmune diseases or any form of chronic pain can change your entire life. I really connected with that part of the story and I know others will too. Stephanie writes in a way that makes you feel every little thing like it's your own. It's truly beautiful.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

I am delighted with this reading.

As a Lupus patient, I loved how the author reflected the reality of a disease that is becoming more common every day and yet remains a great unknown.
All the things Julie experiences are so real: her fear of being a burden, her desire to be able to come and go, being limited, the unfeasibility of pregnancy and you can go on and on. Because it is so general the anxiety for the person is immense. It's a shame that real life is rife with Nate's and scarce with Landon's.

Landon and Julie's story felt real. Their friendship of years, their newfound love, but above all the loyalty and companionship in the most difficult times of someone enduring a chronic illness.
It has been a reminder of how to value life, live it to the fullest and be thankful for those we have by our side.
Julie is a strong girl, with her moments of weakness in the uncertainty of something new and unknown, while Landon takes care of her and protects her, like a true friend and husband.
They really moved me and even made me reflect on certain things.

I am such a fan of this authors work, so when this landed on my Kindle, I couldn't wait to dive in! I LOVED the fact that these two were such close friends for over 20 years, so they already solidified their connection, and they were older too, so the level of maturity was just amazing. The slow progress from good friends to realizing they were the one for each other was just *chefs kiss*

Landon absolutely adored Julie, and he was such an adorable Cinnamon roll hero who was just so unproblematic that it made for such a good escape read. And the authentic recreation of Julie struggling with a chronic illness was just flawless! They just fit so seemly together, and I loved how Landon was there and supportive of her through it all. Plus, the steamy moments were VERY good. *winks*

So if you're looking for a mature romance with impecible representation, this is definitely for you!

The Marriage Solution is the story of Landon and Julie. They have been best friends since college. Over the years they have stayed in touch regardless of where they lived or their relationship status.

The book starts off with a weekend in Las Vegas for Dean and Maria, Landon and Julie’s college friends, to finally get married in a small wedding. Landon and Julie have not seen each other in months. Julie has been keeping a huge secret from Landon, and spills everything to him over drinks. Landon wants to help Julie in anyway he can, and decides marriage is the solution.

I am not sure how else to explain The Marriage Solution without giving everything away. All I can say is that I fell in love with Landon ❤️ He is incredibly sweet and giving. I loved seeing their friendship blossom into more. Julie is so strong, I was inspired by her strength throughout the book.

I absolutely ADORED Stephanie Rose's THE MARRIAGE SOLUTION. Not only was this sexy, smart, and a ton of fun, it also tackled some difficult subjects beautifully. I loved how fleshed out and REAL the characters felt. I bought their friendship and their growing attraction to each other, and it was refreshing to see them openly communicating as their relationship unfolds. I'm a big fan of Steph's books, but this is definitely my favorite. Five stars all around!

This was such a good “Marriage of Convenience” book! The friendship between Landon and Julie was so sweet, and their love was so believable. Landon was such a lovable character, he never wavered in his protectiveness and love for Julie. Julie was so easy to root for. She needed someone in her corner, and Landon stepped up. It was just so sweet seeing them work through their feelings that they were blind to for so long 💕

DNF at 13%

While this book has a lot of tropes I usually enjoy, I was just bored starting off. I wanted to keep reading until they at least got fake married before DNFing, but I could not bring myself to pick this up again. I think that maybe the fact that it was painfully obvious they both already have feelings for each other made me not want to continue reading.

Maybe I'm just more of an enemies to lovers girlie.
