Doveva essere più lungo e allora entrava a far parte dei bei gialli, o anche romanzi, indimenticabili.
Le narrazioni psicologiche, i drammi, le incertezze e le paure dei protagonisti sono vividi, descritti con grande realismo. Ho immaginato tutti i luoghi, le persone ho vissuto il sogno... e quando mi accade significa che il libro è scritto bene.
Tratta argomenti pesanti, l'alcolismo e quindi le dipendenze presenti nelle famiglie che si ritiene "la zona bene della società", dove ci sono tutte le possibilità per trascorrere una vita serena ed invece i drammi sono presenti, tanto quanto in altre fasce sociali. Si vuole coprire lo scandalo, rimanere "dei bei sepolcri imbiancati" ed invece tutto è noto, basta avere un po' di acume, anzi in questo caso proprio l'acume non serve affatto.
Immagino che un'accorciatina al testo la Mondadori l'abbia fatta perché in alcuni casi l'ho notato sbrigativo o forse l'originale è così e confermo la mia convinzione che se questo libro avesse avuto 300 pagine e non la metà, innanzitutto non sarebbero state noiose per la qualità della scrittura, ed inoltre non avrebbero tolto, anzi avrebbero aggiunto qualità all'opera.
Sono sicuro che di questa autrice cercherò ancora qualche libro.

This is a very short book, and a bit dated.
It involves family anger and disrespect, as well as extra marital affairs and alcoholism.
The main characters are pretty selfish and without many redeeming qualities.
It was two thirds into the book before the murder happened. At that point it started to get more interesting.
I would not be quick to read more of this author unless I received a recommendation from a reliable source.
I borrowed this copy from the library.
