well I enjoyed it anyway

(2003 notebook): (got up to) George and John give up the day job. Paul carries on with drivel after two good albums (BoTR and Venus and Mars). Ringo goes to film festivals, hangs out with Harry Nilsson and gets pissed a lot.

You´ve got to be a proper Beatles nerd to actually enjoy this but there are parts of it which are fascinating: John´s vision of a UFO floating above his New York apartment (later referenced on Walls and Bridges) plus the various meetings of John and Paul through the 70´s including the famous one where they were watching TV together and almost decided to head down to a TV studio on a whim but couldn´t be bothered.

Pages of TV appearances, magazine articles and the like are dull, despite the subjects, but, as the wise person says, you got to be like the ant and search through the dirt for the useful stuff. There´s plenty of that here if the Beatles and all things Beatle rock your yellow submarine.

(On a second re-read (don't ask) I've just turned up the gem that the final signature taken to legally dissolve the Beatles happened at Disneyland, which I think is great.)
