The Witch and the Sunflower Girl is a unique fairy tale with a timeless enchanting story of how kindness and karma can overcome tyranny, and free will can overcome fate. This is quite a short tale, and I have to admit I found it slightly confusing at first, so actually read it twice! The story is about a witch/fortune teller and a king and his people. it's really difficult to say a great deal without giving away the plot/storyline. I am not totally sure what to say about it really. The plot is kind of twisting and turning a little. I thought the short tale was a "nice enough little read", perhaps suitable for a quick read with a cuppa mid-afternoon! The type you would find in a women's fiction magazine.
I liked the telling of the story as it captures that true fairytale feeling. It definitely had some creative elements to it as well that are not in traditional fairy tales. There were times I felt it needed a bit more explanation before it embarked on a new part of the story. I was left feeling like something was occasionally missing but over all not bad for a quick read.
I would call this a well written fable instead of a tale as it definitely teaches a lesson in story form and is a favorite to read with my grandchildren
What a charming little story! This book really DOES feel like a new fairytale, which is perfectly fine by me because I freak'n love em. The ending made me a little sad, but my word, I completely loved it. (Bittersweet ftw!)
It didn't take me very long to read this, maybe ten minutes at most? I would love to see this story continue in a bigger novel, as I believe it has a lot of potential for that.
This story is suitable for all ages, do check it out sometime!
I think the idea for this story was great, however the execution of the story leaves much to be desired. Too much happens in too short of a time period so that many important details seem to be missing.
This is was an enjoyable read for me and I could see this novella easily becoming a full novel by just stretching out the details and adding the back stories.
