No-nonsense stunt woman Isabella Douglas will do anything to stop an unwanted divorce and reclaim the happy life she had, even allow her old friend to concoct a magical spell to turn back time. But when the spell goes awry, Izzy finds herself trapped aboard a 1768 Caribbean pirate ship with a captain who’s a dead ringer for her sexy as sin husband, Ian. Convinced he’s playing a cruel joke, she’s furious – until she realizes he doesn’t know her or believe they’re married.
Captain Ian Douglas does not have time to deal with an insane woman who claims to be his wife; he has to save his kidnapped sister. But as Izzy haunts his dreams and fills him with erotic memories he can’t explain, he’s forced to admit he feels more than lust.
Trapped in a vicious cycle of past mirroring present, Izzy knows they only have days to find Ian’s sister and prevent disaster from striking a second time. If she doesn’t, their marriage will be destroyed again – along with the man she loves.
Jennifer Jakes' first love has always been reading. Summers were spent in the library with Sacajawea and Pocahontas . . .until her mom handed her a Harlequin Romance. From that day on, Jennifer was hooked on romance. Now she combines her love of the Old West and Romance in her writing.
Her debut novel, RAFE'S REDEMPTION, was a 2010 RWA Golden Heart Finalist in the Historical category.

In the first place, I bought this book because of the gorgeous cover (by Kim Killion who also made my covers) and the interesting plot. This novella is a joyful read, it's like a time travel love story mixed up with a "Pirates of the Carribean" flair. I liked the outspoken heroine (a stunt woman!) who wasn't afraid to demand what she wanted from her man (in bed, too - LOL). The erotic scenes were hot and a bit kinky; I also liked the love story of two people who were destined to be with each other. The scenes in the past were well-developed and atmospheric.
The only thing I have to complain about is that the book was way too short. This cover deserves a full-length novel! *lol* A plot like this really should have been built up more slowly; I'd like to know more about the h&h and also wanted to see more interaction between the heroine and her pirate husband in the past. But maybe it's just me - I like it when a story is long and detailed. ;-) However, a great read that makes me want to read more by this author!
REVISED BELOW: Although the story is very good, the punctuation/exclamation/grammar was terrible or non-existent. Perhaps this was caused by the download of the e-book, but it was terribly distracting and I ended up having to stop reading it. I have read other books by this author and really enjoyed them, so hopefully this was a download problem and not the author.
REVISED May 3/05: After complaining to All Romance e-books, they advised that it was the reformatting of the Adobe to epub. So, my apologies to the author, Jennifer Jakes. I have changed my rating from 3 stars to 4.

REVIEW:
Ms. Jakes had me at the cover. I love pirates and all that they encompass. Sexy, driven, alpha but tender on the inside. What kept me in the story was the witty dialogue and captivating story.
Izzy is a woman that is on a mission. She doesn't want the divorce that her husband has decided between the two of them. Izzy still loves Ian very much and will do anything to stop the divorce. When Ian shows up on the set of Izzy's latest movie, she feels like something is off, something not natural. With the help of her friend, Izzy gets the one chance to make things right with Ian. What she didn't count on was Ian not remembering you she was.
This book was a joy to read. Quick, fun, sexy, hilarious in parts and a feel good read, too. Ms. Jakes weaves time travel and the real world seamlessly. One minute you are on the movie set and the next on a pirate ship. The dialogue between Izzy and Ian was great. I had laugh out loud moments and sigh worthy moments. The sexual tension you could cut with a knife and Ms. Jakes makes it all worthwhile in the end.
I would highly recommend Twice in a Lifetime for anyone that likes a little magic with their story and a heart stopping pirate to fill your fantasies.
Well, it was a quick read. It was one of the Kindleunlimited book that has been sitting on my kindle for over a year so I don't remember why I got it. It was a nice diversion away from some of the "heavier" books I reading and I'm try to clear out those Kindleunlimited books so I can get some I've seen lately. You can read the storyline elsewhere if you choose. I'll just say it was pretty good romance/fantasy store which ended with some rather graphic sex for the faint of heart. I was left wondering how it turned out but I can sleep, not so unfulfilled I'm ticked like I often get when I don't think it is finished.
A really short little romance. Cute concept but boring and lop-sided execution. I wish the heroine had saved herself a couple of times. She was supposed to be this bad-ass stunt-woman so she should have been capable of doing so. What a wasted opportunity!
OK but it wasn't a real winner for me. I don't think the logistics of the plot really hung together. I understood the author's intent, but it wasn't quite accomplished. Plus, the whole thing seemed like an extreme response to a minor problem.
Clever time travel story - short and sweet and hot! The heroine is spunky and their chemistry makes it a fun read. Can't wait to read Jennifer Jakes other story, RAFE'S REDEMPTION.
I would like to thank Amazon and the author for the wonderful free read. I truly enjoyed this read, it was fun sassy and totally a twist on life and death. Yay for Ian and Izzy.
I could not get into this story at all, the whole time travel, reincarnation, or whatever it was made no sense to me and was chock full of holes. Glad it was short.
OH IF ONLY I COULD GIVE IT A 0 ! IT WAS A FREE BOOK , THATS WHERE THE GOOD POINTS STOP. BAISICALLY IT WAS A SHORT TOSSED, TOGETHER , MAKE NO SENSE , COMBINATION OF SENTANCES .
