Dixie Divas #3

Dixie Diva Blues

Trinket and the Gang Will Stop At Nothing To Clear A Diva's Husband of Murder Charges.

You'd think a midnight prowler would have sense enough to get out after being discovered by a group of middle-aged women armed with flower vases. Or at least stop what he was doing. Not this one. Despite our menacing appearance, he kept opening cabinet doors and drawers. Our intruder wore what looked like a black Ninja outfit. It did not flatter. He was a bit chunky and not much taller than me. Nor did he move very fast as Gaynelle and I bore down on him like a freight train. Instead of screaming in fear and fleeing out the front door--which stood wide open to help facilitate his escape--he turned away from the cabinet he had opened and threw something heavy. It was a Mason jar, and it hit poor Gaynelle right smack in the middle of the forehead. She dropped to the floor like a sack of flour. I looked down at her, then up at the masked intruder. Eyes glittered at me from the tiny eyeholes, and as he seemed to be unarmed--no more Mason jars at hand--I left out a bellow and charged him.

Since writing her first romance novel in 1984, Virginia Brown has written nearly 50 romance novels. Many of her books have been nominated for Romantic Times' Reviewer's Choice, Career Achievement Award for Love and Laughter, and Career Achievement Award for Adventure. Her works regularly appear on national bestseller lists. Having written under several different names about historical eras such as the old West, Regency-era, and the American Civil War, she now writes under a new pseudonym, Juliana Garnett, to focus upon the medieval era.

A native of Tennessee, Virginia spent her childhood traveling with her parents as a "military brat,” living all over the US and in Japan. This influenced her love of travel and adventure, which is reflected in her work.

Twice a year, Virginia visits England to research her novels, and includes Scotland in her travels. She feels this adds a new dimension to her work, and enables her to more authentically impart the true flavor of the geographical and historical sites.

In addition to appearing on the nationally syndicated television program What's Hot, What's Not, Virginia Brown has been interviewed by Jane Pauley on the Today Show, and regularly appears on local television and radio shows in addition to coverage by the press. She also experienced a first for a romance writer by appearing on the cover of Memphis, the magazine.

Virginia is the mother of four grown children, and now enjoys her menagerie of dogs that includes a fat beagle, two part-chows, a hound and five cats. As the grandmother of three lovely children, one of her greatest pleasures these days is visiting with Justin, Christina, and Gaby.

Trinket Truevine and Bitty Hollandale are two Southern Belles who are just on the other side of fifty. When one of their friends' husband is accused of murder the two are on the case looking for the real killer and clearing his name.

These books are very much caper books, packed full of hijinks and snarky banter. Trinket and Bitty are characters who really lend themselves to the archetypical definitions of a fifty-something Southern woman. What I really love about Dixie Diva Blues is the author has managed to write them without going down that lazy path. They are depicted as intelligent even if they occasionally screw things up.

The real fun in this book is the witty banter between the Dixie Divas, the murder mystery was good but in the end it was just the support act for the Dixie Divas who were the real stars of the show.

I absolutely love the Dixie Diva series. The books are humerus cozy mysteries that keep you laughing. The characters are from their 30’s to their 60’s and I love the ideas the different generations to the books.

I am a sucker for a good southern novel. One with lots of "ya'lls" and "howdy's" and "bless her heart". The Dixie Diva series delivers all this and more. While this is the third novel in the trilogy, I found it just as entertaining as the first two. Bitty and Trinket regularly find themselves in the worst possible situations and it takes nothing more than souther charm and hospitality to save their necks.

The series is a light and fun mystery read - check it out "ya'll!"

I was really disappointed with the 3rd installment of the Dixie series. I was able to guess the culprit half way through the book, the clues were obvious and certain scenes that have run through all 3 books I am really getting tired of (ie Trinket and her parents dog and cats). The only reason I read to the end was to see if I had guessed the right killer, which I had. I should've just skipped to the end. Felt this book was very boring. Seriously doubt I will read the 4th book in the series.

Dixie Divas Blues, Virginia Brown, is the third book to the Diva series. It is a hilarious mystery about a woman's husband from the Diva Club that needs to clear his name from all charges of murder. Trouble seems to always find the two main characters, Trinket and Bitsy. What happens to the criminals is hilarious. You must place this on your shelf, ladies!.

I love this series! Love it! Being from the south, well, I can truly relate. I have laughed and laughed at Bitty and Trinket. They seem to get into more trouble without even trying. I love the bantering between the two and then throw in the Divas and you can't help but laugh.

This is the best one yet. Glad I kept on with the Divas, their characters are developing and the stories are getting better. Now I can do without the constant digging at each other between Biddy and Trinket, a little goes a long ways. The reader has lost most of the lisp for Trinket, thank you!

I love the Divas! These books are such a fun read. This one had lots of nice twists and turns and LOTS of humor. I really enjoy the southern touch and the way the author uses it for humor. I will read more, for sure!

The South Shall rise Again!

That is if the Dixie Divas have anything to do with it. You don't have to be a Southern Belle to love the antics of Trinket and the girls as they stick their stilettos in places where they don't belong.

This series has basically the same premise in every book, yet they still are entertaining and funny. I'm impressed that they manage to not get boring or overly repetitive.

My fault I did not like it - I do not care for detective clubs made up of silly women. I'm sure some people will thoroughly enjoy the series, I personally should not have chosen it.

This was a quick and fun read. The mystery wasn't what you would read this book for, it was the outrageous characters and laughter.

While I usually like a funny cozy mystery, but this series is so formulaic that it's starting to get to me. Also, I hate that freaking dog.
