Overcoming Panic Attacks

Rate this book
In the United States, 1.6 percent of the adult population, or more than 3 million people, will develop a panic disorder.

More than likely, someone you know is suffering from the devastation of panic attacks. Maybe that "someone" is you. And more than likely, you're not sure what to do. But Ray Comfort has answers. He knows from firsthand experience that these practical principles are keys that unlock chains and open immovable doors. He knows because this bold evangelist, author, and television host was once the unlikely prisoner of debilitating panic attacks.

People who are having panic attacks aren't losing their minds and aren't destined to be controlled by addictive prescription drugs. There is real hope. Ray shares how he was able to:
Conquer paralyzing, irrational fear. Overcome despair. Restore peace, joy, and confidence. Live fully again.

Solid advice. This would be a good, short read to give to anyone experiencing panic attacks.

One of the quickest reads I've ever done. This book is a wealth of information and makes you grapple with roots of anxiety and panic. The perspective shift simultaneously encourages but also spurs Christians on to share the Gospel despite despair and fear. If you struggle with anxiety and depression, I highly recommend this even if you aren't a Christian.

If you are a Christian and struggle with any kind of anxiety or panic attacks this book is for you. If you don’t struggle with those things and want to know more about the fear of the Lord this book is for you. It is a excellent tool to help and point you to the ultimate book.

Great book

Very helpful, encouraging book to put my panic in perspective. Thankful that the author shares many Bible verses and relays his own experiences with panic.

This book starts off very good, and then gets a bit preachy. It does have some good advice, and it made it to 3 stars because the Author made good use of Spurgeon, whom I've always found beneficial when depressed and/or panicky.

Sadly I felt the Author did add too much "shotgun theology" at the end - by that I mean he seems to want to quickly cover many points, including arguing for Immersion Baptism in a couple of paragraphs. In such a short book, why bother cheesing off all us Infant Baptising Christians. Whilst I don't think the author intends it, the last two chapters almost come across that unless you have the particular type of Christian belief of the Author (at a guess I would say American Baptist of some flavour) then you are letting yourself down by not having a good defense against or support during things such as Panic Attacks :(

Even that said, there are still a handful of quite worthwhile sections in those last chapters.

The author shared some personal examples that could resonate with readers, and I appreciated that, but some of the rest of the book seemed to me either off topic or not dealing with the issue in a sensitive enough way.
