There were parts of this book that were interesting but by and large it was not. Imlausible story of birth of daughter to the President and young beauty. Solving the mystery that surronds the death of Mom is the plot. Ho hum. Detail about Dina was good, she was believable. Simon, the narrator, less believable as were others. Many better books to read.

Enjoyed this one.

The heroine was interesting but a little too perfect. The hero fell in love with her looks, first sight. I did enjoy that she restored gardens. I think I'd have like to see her actually working on an history garden and giving a little history.

The hero was interesting too, but I would have liked to see more passion from him (grief when Miles died), more grit as he was a journalist.

I did like the bad 'guy's' perspective, in secret.

I liked Jude.

I think the best conflict was between Betsy and Jude.

This was my first Mariah Stewart book. After Nora Roberts, Kay Hooper, whose books i loved, I feel that Mariah Stewart books would be of the genre that i love. Detective, serial killers..
So excited to read her others book..!!

Good read. Did not know if I felt like a mystery romance. I almost put the book down but again glad I finished it. This was the first book I read by this author. Great story and good characters. I’m glad how she did not have somebody being murdered at every scene. She kept a good flow to the book.

I love a good mystery. this was a real good one. I had less tnan 76 pages left when I figured outt who did the deed. the writer had
a lot of interesting facts about different. things that kept you intersted. she led you down the primrose path just to end it in a blackberry patch. she directed you then redirected and then did it again. great read. ps facts and location directions matched very well. I enjoyed this story about a straight-arrow president who has a daughter born to his beloved mistress. A reporter is asked to write a biography of the deceased president because his son is going to be running for president. The reporter discovers that the mistress was murdered 30 years ago, and the killer was never found. He senses a story that will make his career when he reveals the truth about "Mr. Straight-arrow". Then he meets the daughter and everything changes.

This book from 2002 was awesome.

There were times when you have to remember it was it 2002 because cellphones are scarce, GPS was not a thing so that added a cute layer to the book. Really good political thriller with a romance element to it. Reminded me of James Patterson, David Baldacci, James Rollins books.
