Have you ever allowed yourself time to think about what's really important to you? Something you have always dreamed of doing? In a moment of reflection after the loss of a friend, Sebastian Terry's answer is a list of 100 things, the things he's always wanted to do. Sebastian embarks on an incredible adventure which sees him Get Shot in Colombia, Crash the Red Carpet at the Cannes Film Festival and Cycle Through Cuba - all in an effort to ensure he lives a life without regrets. Now more than halfway through his list, Sebastian has realised that his journey is part of something so much bigger . . .100 Things is a humorous, action-packed story for anyone who's ever dreamed about living every day like it was their last.
In Sebastian's own words: It's always hard to explain to someone exactly what it is that I have chosen to do with my life. From the outside I am a young Australian who has shirked responsibility for the purpose of living an outrageous life consisting of adventure, adrenalin and fun. I've married a stranger in Vegas, broken a Guinness World Record, sky dived naked, and even delivered a baby. Stating that I have a 'list of 100Things that I want to do before I die' is the easiest way to explain to a stranger what I do.
Please take the time to buy and read a copy of Sebastian Terry's 100 Things, as you will not regret it and you will be helping the amazing Camp Quality cause! Not only is the book so amazingly well written and easy to read, it is utterly captivating. The story of Sebastian Terry's 100 Things adventure will make you laugh, gasp, cry and even cringe at times, but mostly it is just so inspiring. The message that Sebastian is trying to get out there is so much deeper than 'make a list of crazy things to do' - it is about living life as the universe intended you to live it. Story after story illustrates how everything can fall into place if you have the courage to just let it happen. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone and I am so glad that I had the opportunity to experience Sebastian Terry's amazing 100 Things journey documented in this book.
Can't remember where I first heard about Sebastian and his 'list' - probably tele. Anyway checked out the website then grabbed the book which I finished off quickly. Interesting read, and looking forward to following his progress online.
Everyone has those things they want to do in life, I know I do. I've ticked off a few, but never really put it in a list - since visit 100things.com.au I've made a list of mine - only 45 so far although its made me consider it more closely and start thinking about ticking off a fe more.
I picked up a copy of this book as I awaited a flight to NZ back in 2011. I was meeting a friend and we were to go on a campervan trip. It was the best choice I could have made to read this at the start of a big adventure. This book is an easy and entertaining read but above all encourages the reader to take chances, have fun and to give. So much appreciation for what Seb the message he shares with the world. I still follow his travels to this day. Definitely a great read for anyone who needs a little nudge to be bold and have fun with what you do.
Would give this 3.5 / 5, or 7 out of 10. Great book overall, inspiring and easy read, good few laughs, but suffers somewhat from a weak narrative and writer skill. For a first book from Sebastian 'Seb' Terry, and for the journey leading to it, would recommend this for a fun read or ideas for planning out your next year.
I didn't think I would enjoy this book, but I enjoyed it because it was easy to read and escapism. I enjoyed reading about Sebastian and his adventures. I thought the end finished abruptly. I recommend this book
A great book for those who believe their life is bigger than them and want to contribute something to this world. Sebastian Terry shows us the power behind motivation and is a great read.
Habe das Buch gelesen, nachdem ich Sebastian bei einer Präsentation gesehen habe. Ich fand es großartig. Aber für manche ist das zu viel Show. Ich liebe es.
So, what are YOU doing with your life, and are you enjoying it? This is the question that will play on your mind as you read the tales of this modern adventurer. He looks for opportunities, he goes with the flow. Resources to achieve his goals appear just in time to help. It's a magical life and the author is well suited to it.
Most of us, I think, wouldn't be able to tolerate the degree of uncertainty that the author faces every day. Some of the situations he gets into are pretty uncomfortable - like trekking across France without the budget for a bed and shower every night. Sleeping under a rat-infested jetty. But through it all he maintains a child-like anticipation and excitement about what could be coming next.
Not surprisingly the media siezed upon this quirky individual and helped promote his cause to raise money for charity, even though that wasn't what originally drove him to start his adventure of 100 things. What seems to have started him off and kept him going is answering the question that many of us are reluctant to face honestly: "So, what are you doing with your life?"
My favourite thing about this book was how much it had me laughing. Sebastian Terry is often hilarious with his comments throughout this book and I enjoyed reading every bit of it.
After a close friend passed away, Seb wondered what his mate would have answered if asked the question 'would you change anything about you life'. After asking himself this same question he realised that he could not answer 'no' and that there were indeed aspects he would want to change. He realised that he was living the life that other people expected him to live - finish school, get a degree, buy a house etc. After realising this Seb set out to make a list of 100 things that he wanted to do. And simply set of and began doing them. 100 Things outlines Seb's journey so far and shares some of his items he has ticked off his list such as 'marry a stranger', 'deliver a baby', 'get shot' and many many more.
I have followed Seb on his website for a long time but reading the book has come at the right time for me and I am so inspired - I've had list for a long time and loved the "Bucket List" I have ticked off several things but I still thought something was missing and now I know what it is - very few of the items actually challenged me . They were nice to do's......... I always imagined that I needed a lottery win to go out and pursue a lot of the items on my list but reading Seb's story and getting the inspiration behind it has made me more aware that its about being self sufficient - counting on the universe to give you a helping hand - I am currently re-writing my list to "challenge me" I have no idea how I will fund it but I am now believing that if I want to do something for the right reasons it will happen - watch this space for my list!!!
Best book I have read, since Ray Martin and Fiona Oloughlin , I love reading an Aussie, letting us know what they have been up to , its that simple ,its what apeals to me as im learning. I will be recommending 'SEB' to all my Friends, and thinking about what to put on my list! Thanks Seb for what you have brought to not only Aus. but the world, well done. I look forward to your next book (I hope)!
I wouldn't recommend this book for the writing, as it's not exactly a wonderfully written or page-turning read, but I would recommend it for the inspirational content - it's a reminder that it's really not that difficult to do what we want to in life, if we can just identify (and remind ourselves) what those things are! Hence, I have started re-writing my 'to-do'list... :-)
This book was given to me by my sister for Christmas last year. It isn't one I would usually buy myself to read. I loved his story and the way he found meaning to his life via completing his list items. What a great learning for the rest of us. I've started a list of 10 things.
