The VALEFAR VOLUMES tell the story of Collin Smith and other Valefar.
The dangerous and beautiful Collin Smith just made the biggest mistake of his life, and there is no way to fix it. In his quest to restore his soul, he destroyed the only person he truly cared about, Ivy Taylor. Collin tries to deny his love for her, but his desire to protect Ivy drives him to do things Valefar shouldn't do. If Collin exposes his weakness—his affection for Ivy—he endangers them both and risks the wrath of Kreturus.
H.M. Ward continues to reign as a NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author who surpassed more than 23 million books sold, placing her among the literary titans. Ward has been featured in articles in the NEW YORK TIMES, FORBES, and USA TODAY to name a few.
This novella picks up right where the last one left off. You're instantly thrown into Collin's world as he tries to fight for Ivy, while still trying to remain below the radar. They are written lighter, similar to Demon Kissed (Ivy #1).
I love the way these book go with the main series. Without them, nothing is lacking, but with them - OMG. Is it possible to <3 Collin more? Cuz after reading these I totally do. And at the end of book #5 The 13th Prophecy I was feeling for Eric.
I can't wait for the next one. I heard there are several of these. My suggestion is reading Valefar Vol. 1 and Vol 2 AFTER reading Demon Kissed. The great thing about these is that you can read them in any order (Valefar Volumes, then Demon Kissed), but I really like the ah-ha! moments that happen after reading Demon Kissed. And it doen't spoil anything to read them in that order either.
Recommended for people who like dystopian, paranormal romance, fast pacing, dark YA. If you liked UNEARTHLY, HOUSE OF NIGHT, and FEVER SERIES, I think you’ll really enjoy the DEMON KISSED series, too.
From first reading Demon Kissed I have loved Collin. He's so totally sexy even though he's evil and not evil, but he is evil. Okay that didn't make sense. Let me start over. Collin Smith is Valefar, which is a soul sucking demon who isn't supposed to feel emotions of any kind. Now that being said, Collin also has a soul. Which means he is a soul sucking demon with feelings. Making him completely sexy. I was extremely excited to hear that H.M. Ward was going to be writing a back story on Collin. I always love reading the back story on different characters and really wanted to know what life as Collin would be like. Valefar Vol. 2 didn't disappoint. I loved how he is such a strong, loyal, and caring person, but also lets his Valefar side out. Hearing about why he let the word "SLUT" to be written across Ivy's locker, and reading about why he hung out with Nichole was interesting too, because I never would have thought that he hated her as much as he does. Totally awesome to hear. This is a short read, however, wouldn't suggest reading this unless you've already read Valefar Vol. 1 Favorite Quote: "It's not optional, Taylor. You need some sunshine." She rolled her eyes, but didn't say anything, Collin reached for her. Caught her off guard, she didn't know what he was doing. Ive felt his hand slide around her waist and before she knew it, Collin was thrusting her over his shoulder and standing up. She screamed, arms flailing, "Put me down!" He laughed, "Yeah that's not gonna happen."
It's Collin's point of view (YAY!), and this is after he's killed Ivy's sister Apryl (yes this has some scenes from "Demon Kissed" but it's as how they unfold from Collin's eyes) Personally I think he's hanging around Ivy a lot because of the guilt he has for killing her sister, (even though Valefars can't have feelings) Ugh Collin I want to kill you in this book, I disliked you and your actions so much it wasn't funny! The way he talks about Ivy is just wrong especially how he's talking about her to a hoe, a HOE people! "Of course, Niki you know what I like, and there was no way I'd let her lose it to some random guy at a party...not when she's marked for me." Pig much Collin! don't worry Ivy finds out about it and puts him in his place. I hope there's more books like this in the future as I like seeing things from Collin's point of view, and no matter how much I want to kick him in the nuts I'll always love him.
I have to admit Collin is a favourite of mine despite being the ultimate demon and bad boy, he loves Ivy and is desperately trying to save her from himself, the world at large and Kreterus the demon king. This book takes places just after giving up her sister Apryl by mistake thinking she was the prophesy one when in actuality it was Ivy all along. Trying to protect her, he keeps on hurting her as she has feelings for him but he pushes her away to keep her safe. This novella while short gives you an insight into Collin and how he felt about Ivy even in the beginning, something so pure and innocent yet she drives him crazy as he struggles to keep her safe. He truly loves her and will do anything even sacrifice himself to save her but will it be enough.
I love the fact that we get to see things from Collin’s point of view. It’s nice to know what’s going on inside his head vs. Ivy’s head. Valefar #2 kind of made me realize how deep Collin’s feelings for Ivy really were. During the books I felt like Collin was being mean to Ivy but, from his point of view it makes more sense! It’s like someone flicked on the light bulb! It’s the same for when Kreturus summoned him. That was crazy and I never knew how hard something like that would have been for Collin. I was always on Collin’s side and it is really nice to get to see things from his perspective. I will be getting volume 3! I also love these covers! Just throwing that out there as well!
Not only is Collin the single Valefar to feel remorse and love. He also has to live with the fact that his actions have hurt the only girl he's ever loved more than any other. And to hide his weakness, he must continue to allow his fellow Valefar to make her life a living hell.
This is another short novella in the Demon Kissed series. Enjoyable, but not essential. I will however, pick up the third and final installment as soon as it is released.
I just loved the Demon kissed series. Colin what a complex character you really felt you were living life through his eyes. How would I describe him. A wolf in sheeps clothing. You are drawn in to the menacing madness a must have read!
Great continuation of the story from Collin's point of view. Although Collin is a Valefar, a soul sucking demon, you sympathize with his character in these stories. Great work laying a foundation for the Demon Kissed series.
