Describes a year in the life of the elusive North American bobcat, accompanied by numerous black-and-white photographs, discussing behavior, habitat, and more
Author-Naturalist Hope Ryden has spent years in the field, studying and photographing North American wildlife. Her behavioral findings have been published in National Geographic, Smithsonian, and Audubon magazine, and her books have been translated into German, Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian, Dutch, Spanish, Italian and Russian. To date she has twenty-three books to her credit, all of which are illustrated with her own photography. Her most recent titles can be ordered through Barnes and Noble.com or Amazon.com. Some of her earlier books can be ordered directly from her or from iUniverse.com. Hope is available for school programs, and she also lectures for adult audiences. Her wildlife photographs are handled by the National Geographic's Image Collection or can be ordered directly from her.
Ryden did her research and since bobcats are almost impossible to locate and find, she spent time with live bobcats in zoos and captivity. Unlike her other books which are strictly centered around her years of observations, this book takes all her research and creates a bobcat story. Written from the point of view of the wildlife itself, Ryden captures the essence of bobcats and their lives. I learned so much about bobcat nature. I read this book because I want to locate and photograph bobcats. With all the knowledge Ryden gave me, but in a memorable story form, I will have more tools now.
Even though this book is older, and the photos are black and white, it's well-written and fascinating. Very skillfully researched and presented. And the photos are great.
