Labrador retrievers are athletic dogs. Poodles are some of the smartest dogs around. What happens when theyre bred together? Introducing the Labradoodle the happy go lucky dog that doesnt shed!
Short children’s book that gives an introduction to the Labradoodle with simplified tips for dog care. Includes four chapters: Designer Doodles, Meet the Parents, Beauty and Brains, and Doodle Dos and Don’ts.
At the end there’s a five question quiz to help the reader determine if a Labradoodle is the right kind of dog for their family. There’s also a code for access to websites, but two of the three sites were no longer valid URLs. Not surprising for a book published in 2012.
Some of the tidbits were fun. I didn’t know that in the modern version of Monopoly Here and Now, the Scotty dog playing piece was replaced with a Labradoodle. I also did not know that the name Poodle came from the German for “puddle dog”.
If the photographs were better, I’d give this book a higher rating. While the dogs were cute, the lighting for the photographs seemed pretty sloppy resulting in dull coats on these gorgeous dogs. The composition was also uninspired. If you’re going to create a children’s book about dogs, the photography should capture my interest and make me want to cuddle up with this designer dog much more than the photos chosen.
