Jane Rosenthal's Souvenir takes place in 2070. Global warming has reached a stage where the Antarctic is melting, causing cold tsunamis. In some ways the world has gone back to simpler ways: a lepidopterist travels the Karoo in a donkey cart, getting excited when he finds uncloned butterflies. The Energy People send out their 'windmill' maintenance staff in dirigibles.
Our endearing eponymous heroine is a barbieclone, blonde and gorgeous.
Fun, thought-provoking and peopled with engaging characters. A strong environmental message.
