A very nice book. I have the 1909 fifth edition rather than a reproduction and devoured it. The artwork and illustrations are fantastic. A thorough coverage of Christian symbolism from the early Church to the time of original publication in the 1800s. Art. stained-glass, paintings, literature, etc. are cobered in detail. Some symbols covered include: the Alpha and the Omega; the Good Shepherd; the invocatory cross; the lion; emblems of mortality; the color white; the slayer of the dragon; symbols of the saints; the flabellum; and crocodilian tears. This work is in the public domain in the USA. First Edition is from 1891.
