Brendan DuBois of New Hampshire is the award-winning author of twenty novels and more than 150 short stories. His novel, "Resurrection Day," won the Sidewise Award for Best Alternative History Novel of the Year.

A nice little post-9/11 terrorist/antiterrorist thriller. Pretty engaging, a little unrealistic (so, at the climax, I'm shouting a better solution at the pages, but the ink never changes... why don't authors listen to me?), but all-in-all an "almost couldn't put it down" cat and mouse thriller. People you care about die, a loose end hangs to perhaps come back and become a sequel (or at least unsettle the paranoid), things blow up, shots are fired, misdirection happens, and secrets are revealed. What more can I ask for?

I have read most all of DuBois Lewis Cole's mysteries, so I was optimistic when I picked up this book. I liked the nail-biting excitement when the pilots are doing daring flying feats. And the characters the DuBois has created are interesting. And the action is fast-paced. However, as a military veteran I strongly believe that most military veterans who have received the anthrax shots before going into Iraq would know that airborne distribution is THE BEST WAY to deliver weaponized anthrax and NOT the way to spread an protective antidote. So the book's proposition that a senior military leader would be duped by the plot that has resulted in a nationwide anthrax attack is woefully disappointing. The author should have talked to a military veteran or an infectious disease physician to suggest a better plot device.

Standard formulaic stuff - ideal for the beach or a long boring plane journey. Otherwise probably waiting for a movie deal

Scary

DuBois writes books to make you think. He wrote this in 2008, but it is still scary if you do not know what the future holds. There is a reckoning coming, but not from man. Man has dominated man to his injury for hundreds of years. People took no note of the warning of the Flood. People today with all that is going on do not seem to understand the end of wickedness is near, and the earth will become what God originally intended-- a paradise. They need to search for what will let them be a part of this promise.

Pretty typical post 9/11 terrorist thriller. Good pace, interesting enough plot.
Halfway through it was looking like a solid 2 stars, but a few nice twists bumped it to a 3.

Brian Doyle is a NYC detective who has been requested and seconded to assigned to Tiger Team , part of Homeland Security. The team is made of representatives from various branches of the government and tasked with searching out possible terrorist activities. The woman who heads their group given information that has been gathered believes that a terrorist anthrax attack is eminent and has worked with the CDC to come up with an antidote which she convinces the team and the bosses to put into use before the expected attack. The only problem is that the fatality rate of the antidote, while not as bad as the attack itself, is alarmingly high. Its not until well into the book that some of the members of the team start to have questions and Doyle, who was tasked to quietly run checks on the members makes an alarming discovery. So lots of things going on, action around the country and abroad before we get to the end. But how and what that is is up to you to discover by reading this one for yourself.

A cracking good story, set in the aftermath of 9/11. Terrorists are about to launch a widespread anthrax attack on the continental USA. Brian Doyle, a New York detective, is member of a 'Tiger Team', a special cross-agency anti-terror group. Slowly he becomes aware of a devastating master-plan to nullify their counter-measures, hatched by an extremely highly-placed traitor... The intricate plot builds to a nail-biting and highly satisfying climax.
